Jada Pinkett Smith to star in new TNT drama series "Time Heals"Jada Pinkett Smith (The Women), who just wrapped her writing and directorial feature debut, The Human Contract, is returning to television as the star and executive producer of TNT's drama pilot Time Heals.
Jada will play Nancy Hawthorne, a strong but caring director of nursing at Charlotte Mercy Hospital in North Carolina, "a single mother who always puts the pain of others first." I must admit the premise doesn't grab me. But after the success of The Closer and Saving Grace, TNT has proven they know how to make dramas starring strong female characters, and the fact that the show is being produced by — and starring — a woman of color gives me hope. So I'll probably give it a shot. But Jada in nurses scrubs will be a new look for her. Remember when she played Lena James in the TV series A Different World for two seasons in the early '90s?
Yeah, me neither, since I only had eyes for Jasmine Guy (funny) and Lisa Bonet (hot!). OK, and Cree Summer, too (such a cutey!) Check out BlackVoices' "Where are They Now?" feature on the cast for a stroll down A Different World memory lane. But back to Jada: I dug her kick-ass look in The Matrix Revolutions in 2003.
And the edgy thing she's got going as the frontwoman for the metal band Wicked Wisdom is pretty cool.
Then of course, there's her recent turn in The Women (2008) as the Sophisticated Lesbian.
"I know lots of lesbians." Jada said in an interview about The Women. "I think there is a lesbian inside of me that I just pulled out. (Laughs)." Donning a leather jacket will have that effect on a woman. Does Time Heals sound like something you'd watch? What's your favorite Jada look? Submitted by on September 19, 2008 - 2:52am. |

JASON'S LYRIC
My favourite Jada look was that of the movie Jason's Lyric. She had me mesmerized in those dresses :-)
Awesome! Yes, I'll watch.
I love what TNT is doing for women (and women over 40 too!). A woman of color in a leading role? It's a no-brainer. How often does that happen? I also love Jada so I will watch even though the storyline really doesn't seem that engaging. Oh..."The Women" look is the best.

The Matrix!
I loved Jada in The Matrix! There aren't many people in those movies who can distract me from Carrie-Anne Moss in tight leather, but Jada is certainly one of them (Gina Torres being the one other), and her character is very cool!
I'll admit the description of her new show doesn't exactly (not at all) grab me either, but for Jada, I'll give it a try.
Lena
This actually sounds like a good idea...
There is just something about Jada! She seems like a wonderful wife and an even better mother. She has oodles of talent and I love the fact she confronts things head on. She's a wonderful person to look up to and I'm excited about the show.
"I hate people, they hate me. So doesn't that classify as a healthy, functioning relationship?"
I don't care what Jada's
I don't care what Jada's in, I will love it. when i was a kid, i watched a really bad Tales from the Crypt movie at least 20 times because she was in it. i did not get enough of her in the Women. It's about time there will be a show that's all about her!
"what kind of rat bastard psychotic would play that song right now at this minute?"
wixked wisdom
jada
i love jada. the woman is beautiful, and sexy as hell. if i had to choose it would be her fly, laidback look from "the women" and her sexy, kinda hood look from "set it off".
"A Low Down Dirty Shame"
That is the movie I believe was the first time I had recognized Jada Pinkett Smith. (No actually it was the movies "The Inkwell" and "Jason's Lyric". I just really liked her in "A Low Down Dirty Shame".) I was a child when "A Different World" was on so I would not remember her on it.
Out of the three pictures, my first choice is "The Women" picture and second is "A Different World" picture. I chose the "A Different World" picture as second because it helps me reminisce about Jada in the early 1990s.
Wicked Wisdom
The Wicked Wisdom shot is wicked hot.
A fellow Afro-Punk-Metalhead. *sigh* Why must she be straight? Why?
.....
Hells Yeah!
Seen 'em live twice now!
*high five back!*
