The CW hides "Hidden Palms"

Am I the only person who's been watching the new teen mystery/drama Hidden Palms? Apparently so, from the CW's decision to burn off several episodes at once so they can air the season (and no doubt, series) finale on July 4th. You know it's bad when they're airing the finale on a national holiday.

I don't understand why this show wasn't a hit. Sure, it's a vapid parade of shiny, pretty people, but so is One Tree Hill, and that show's been on the air forever. Palms at least has a mystery to solve. Besides how many different ways Peyton, Brooke and Lucas can fight and become friends again, I mean.

Plus there's romance! Cute girls! Kevin Williamson! And did I mention the cute girls?

I mean really, what's not to like?

    I'm watching this show as well as everything else on tv but I'm liking the fact that there is a mystery as mentioned.  It makes it more interesting than it being another OC-type teen summer drama.  I'm loving Michael Cassidy as Cliff with all the hidden darkness and the Eddie mess.  And I have to say, that boy is cute. Heh.

    They play nice music too which drew me into the show actually.  Except they found a way to play the best song in the world in a scene/montage that didn't fit at all.  Not the way to use "The Blower's Daughter" but nice try. ;)

    Cute girls indeed! I wondered if anyone else was watching this. I love the whole mystery aspect of the show...What a bummer that this show is gonna get killed off.

    I dunno, i watched the pilot, and even though Michael Cassidy is cute in this, i just couldn't get engaged in it. Just me.

    Ugh, i got to season 3 in One Tree Hill, and i have to say, what went up Peyton's ass. She seems major bitchy. I miss cool season 2 Peyton, and season 2 Peyton hair. Gosh, i can't believe i'm talking about these shows, i'm blowing my kick ass cover.

    Anyways, this has got to be the shortest summer series ever. Like 5 episodes?

    By the way, what was the song they used for the advertising commercials?

    I am still in the bitter over Veronica camp.  They should have introduced HP before the announcements were made re: the fates of GG and VM.  That was foolish on their parts.

    Begin rant 

    I'm probably the only one in this camp -  but I really resent the fact that One Tree Hill was even compared to Hidden Palms. 

     I've watched OTH since season two (and own all the seasons on DVD) and while everyone assumes that it is your general teenage drama its actually a smart show. A smart show with a lot more going on than "Brooke and Peyton and Lucas' fight and love triangles"

     In my experience the people who say its nothing more than a bad teen soap have never given it more than a couple episodes worth of a try.

    Plus - Brooke and Peyton offer a lot in the way of believable femslash that makes this show worth watching even aside from all of its other good qualities.

    I guess my point is, Hidden Palms may not be worth something but One Tree Hill is. There is a reason it will have been on for 5 seasons as of this fall.

    I've watched a lot of OTH, actually - the whole first season, which I liked, and some of the second, and then again when they brought in bisexual Anna - but it's really gone downhill since about the middle of the second season, don't you think? At least, that's my opinion.

    yeah i saw the first two episodes on two different channels and so i got lost..i didnt know where the actual show was being shown. It wasnt that good though..i mean the mystery is entertaining but everything else is too much

    I watched the first episode the second time around cause I forgot when it was on, but I liked it alot. There were a lot of familiar faces like Tessa Thompson(Veronica Mars,Grey's Anatomy), D.W. Moffett(Thirteen), Michael Cassidy(the O.C.), Taylor Handley(the Texas Chainsaw Massacre:The Beginning), and Leslie Jordan(Will and Grace), and many other people. I liked the whole mystery thing it kind of gave me VMars vibes. I missed the other episodes but I'm watching them online to get me caught up. I think they should let it marinate before taking it off. One can get really into it when there is nothing on but reality shows. It also has good looking girls and guys, can you say Greta.
