    Re: Tila Tequila

The ONLY redeeming quality to THAT show was Ms. Futch herself. One wonders if she made in the final two with producers/Tila KNOWING that there would be no real winner. Cause lets face, Bobby was a loser in all ways possible in comparison to Dani. Or is it possible that Tila actually was "too" fond of Dani for the Tila's/producers' collective comfort? In any case, the show could not go on for Tila if there had been a real winner and unfortunately, everyone except MTV is the loser for it all.

    Couldn't agree more with

Couldn't agree more with your choice for #1.  Shot at Love really did have the potential to be positive representation, but Tila blew it on so many levels.  And then to have another season of that crap?  Disappointed and disgusted are my understatements for it.

Great vlog Sarah and Lori.  Always look forward to hearing from you two. :)

Good to see the right video

Good to see the right video up, for as many things that can go wrong i'm surprised that there isn't more of this, you are doing a great job. Anyways this episode was great. I can't believe that with everyone who complains about Tila that there is going to be another season. There is no way that I will watch it, even just to see what everyone is talking about on the blogs, not doing that again. Hilarious commercial but totaly wrong. I didn't even think they were lesbians and couldn't figure out why you were calling them that until the end. Keep up the good work, always enjoy listening to your opinions!!

Tila is wrong in soooooo many ways

I was seeing the videogames awards last week (most of the show was lame) and there she goes milking the stereotypes in a bit with the diferent games machines (now she is trisexual o whatever word she invented for this think) i have to say this is it for me, she is like paris hilton a MEDIA WHORE and like her i gona pretent she no exist
    Missy2003sl's picture

    waited impatiently

I really don't get the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus obsession. I mean seriously all this hoopla for tickets. I've just not gotten what's so wow about her. I mean when Britney Spears / Backstreet Boys mania was the thing i understood but this i don't understand.

I'm still laughing at the ridiculousness of that ad. What does girls in bikinis getting wet with a hose have to do with a dirtbike/racing video game. People will use sex appeal to sell anything. I guess the target demo is horny teenage boys.

    Down with tila Tequila.

    netgirl1983's picture

    hey now

T he best part of 'A Shot At Love' was the coverage (ie recaps) of it. At least then the episode were funny, if only they'd put the recaps as subtitles on the show!

I have a name for Tila's long awaited prize for all the stereotype propaganda: The Shame Award.

Geez, and I have a couple names to nominate to that award this year ¬¬

Thanks for the vlog. As always guys, I love your rants ;D

    Ugh

I love you two but I loathe the Tila Tequila show...and Hanna Montana.

Goddamn it. I too tried to give her the benefit of doubt but yeah when person you're trying to see good in keeps doing stupid shit then you have to realize the truth, that they like making dumb choices. I knew the show was going to be really bad but she didn't have to prove it to me.

The new name for show should be "A Shot at Herpes part deux"

I feel so bad for Karman. Sarah, if you truly love her you wont make recap that dumbass show. Unless she wants to then I'll be first in line to read it.

Thank God for the L Word :)

Ok...So I was hoping Tila would have found love, even if it was wit Bobby! But just like everyone else here, Im pissed that they would even think much less actually allow her to have another season. I doubt I will be watching it and I hope to God none of you guys have to do a blog/vlog on it. She is just milking it for the pay checks like u said Sarah.

Thank God The L Word is back on, else there would be notn for us to watch hehehe!!

After the debacle that was the first shot at love

Where are they going to find contestants for the second shot. Everyone knows what is up, that there is a good chance they will have to eat something nasty, and there is no hope of a payoff at the end. Unless you are an attention whore and just want to be on the TeeVee, there is no point to participating.  But hey, who am I kidding.  I'm sure MTV can find plenty of attention whores willing to suffer the humiliation of putting something icky in their pieholes (bull penis? bugs? Tila?) just to get their 15 seconds of fame on the boob toob.
    perfectflaw75's picture

    Ew...

I hope Tila's show doesn't air on this side of the Atlantic. It's great to hear you guys say what I've been thinking all along (while browsing your recaps): Tila makes bisexual woman, lesbians AND Asians look bad.

I've never heard of Hannah Montana, but I happened to read about it on some blog yesterday and all I could think of was "Is this for real? Don't reporters have real news to report?"

... And maybe there's something wrong with me, but the "teaser" for the game? Not titillating. At all.

Anyhoo, Lori & Sarah: great recap! Thank you.

    Cashmere Headlines

I'm no journalist, but how about something more simple and to the point like...

"Cashmere Mafia was a huge disappointment!"

I have to say, it was a promising little lesbian storyline in the middle of a vapid, vacuous, piece of...well, you get the idea.

Are you going to cover this in "She Made Me Watch This"?

    tarrabbit's picture

    I respectfully...

    ... disagree with you.

For me, the preview episode (read – retooled pilot) for Cashmere Mafia was an interesting start to the building of a dynamic, competitive yet supportive click of strong, forthright professional women living in a big city.

I also thought the intro of the lesbian storyline could possibly be a fascinating build to a really compelling relationship if they take their time to not rush through it simply to cast it aside.

And Bonnie Somerville had me hooked from her first scene at breakfast.

I don’t know where this will all lead, but I’m willing to give them more hours of my time. It wasn't a homerun - but it did at least get on base.

    beecharmer79's picture

    Pros and Cons

I am also willing to give them more hours of my time in hopes that it goes somewhere.

I just felt the writing kinda took a U-turn towards the end of the episode...especially with the Mia (I think that's her characters name...Lucy Liu) character's fiancee. Why on earth would he have been with her in the first place...a clearly work driven woman...if he was only looking for a housewife. It just seemed a bit contrived in order to single her up so as her character can have a dating storyline. Same with the other chick who is going to take a lover. Am I supposed to respect her for stooping to her husbands level!? I don't know.

That said, I did like the way they have handled the lesbian storyline thus far. Her character (can't remember her character's name either) is the most likeable, I find.

But...I agree with you tarrabbit...I will be giving this show a few more tries in hopes the characters reveal a little more depth.

    Next Week

Next weeks #1 who thought is was a good idea has got to be - Ourchart and Paris Hilton pics staring Kate Moennig and Ilene Chaikin.  I was a Kate fan.  Gave her the benefit of the doubt over the Kristiana Loken thing, mostly because not a fan of Kristiana.  I know, you all love her.  These pictures made me throw up in my mouth a little.  Talk about pimping.  How much do you think they paid Paris?  How did Ilene talk KM into hanging out with her? You realize in the advocate KM talked Sh*t about Paris.  Whatever, this whole publicity stunt has now put me on team Loken.

    Heterosbians

That game commercial is so over the top that I kind of don't feel exploited. Those women are clearly straight and not into each other, and they know that we know that they know that we know that. Er, wait... ::rereads:: Yeah. I feel more grossed out--like somebody just made me watch Jodie Foster make out with Tim Gunn. Yucky.

    Shellih's picture

I think I am addicted to these rants!!

Sarah and Lori......I swear I think I am addicted to your rants!!  I love them like melted chocolate with Baileys (secret addiction that is a bit unhealthy but I can't put it down).

I agree with the whole Miley thing who the hell turns a poor kid into a lesbian for hanging out with her buddys....nothing like making a mountain out of a mole hill.  It would be more suspect at that age for a kid to have those same pics but not be willing to share them out of embarrassment.  If a kid thinks they are innocent then they are just that....innocent.  Jeez people!!  Now if she is 21 and still doing that....then hell invite me to the party.  (bad Uneek bad)

Oh and the whole video game thing....oh now that was just horrible....it was so bad I had to watch it several times just to make sure I knew which game it was I needed to rush right out and buy ahem boycott.  (yeah boycott was the word I was looking for).

Ok what else was I going to talk about.....did I mention the video game....cough cough

A Shot of Tequlia in Your AS$1

I stop watching MTV since I found some muscle tissues in my skull start functioning, and I am freaking glad that it happened. I was asked to do some audition for a lesbian epd on MTV Next  2 years ago (I totally didn't go back ). WTF, The whole entire network is in denial! HOMOs are everywhere on the premises, and time after time , they still keep on producing shows like this Tequila shot bs !Now, when I do pay some penny attention to the shows MTV produces, I go furious about how hypocritical and idiotic MTV is. Wasn't MTV supposed to be representing the age of equality, age of distinction, age of daring truth, age of free mind, and most importantly MUSIC! because MTV was the first of kind and one of the kind!  What da hell happened! Tequila de vodka or whatever that girl's name is, seriously! Does any Asian staff working for MTV have the urge to smack that producer's ugly bolding head! Talking about hurtful stereotypes of ethnicity, wrongfully labeled perceptions about sexuality, and terrible influences on today's youth, MTV got it all! Out of some 26 shows MTV airs, only True Life and Made are somewhat inspirational. What happened to all other shows? All got drunk with tila de vodka, tripped down to hell and burn or WHAT! We do not need any more absurdity from MTV, and seriously ! entertainment doesn't need to be made this way. Laughers can be created by witty jokes, intense story lines, mind stimulating conversations, or even watching Bush giving a speech. Thinking about MTV makes me feel like I am PMSing, which I am ,anyway the point is : MTV please, have some audacity to be "RIGHT!"
    ReluctantVlogger's picture

    It wasn't just me

Great comments from everyone! Glad to see it wasn't just me getting feeling indignant about Tila.

As for Cashmere Mafia, Sarah and I will go into details about what we think about last night's episode. We have many thoughts on the subject. But I will share that we think Bonnie Sommerville is a cutie!

    MelissaC5's picture

    There's something really

There's something really really cathartic about seeing your rage on the weeks ick-issues, like some sort of community LTE yelling, "no, the world isn't like that!"

Hannah Montana photos: What really irks me is that it's just more of this hypersexualizing (+ objectifying) of girls, and promoting the idea, that even at that age, intimate relationships do not exist without sexual overtones (a crap idea at any age).

I also love (sarcastic) how even if you really believed it to be sexual pictures, the object of her lust is apparently the girl she's with.... and not looking at, but she's looking into the camera isn't she? = girls gone wild: pg-13.

Tila: no words. just gross. I feel so dirty for ever watching that show in the first place, even as a joke. In spite of the hotness of Dani... oooh Dani..... I want those hours back and every damn moment I thought about the show.

    7OF9's picture

    ok

    Here's what I think:

Cashmere's headlines, a couple were kinda funny, most were uncreative; but it's hard to be creative when passion/interest is missing. I mean what exactly was the critic? I still don't know what their beef with the show is. As for the comparison with Sex & the City, I don't see it. It reminded me instead of Desperate Housewives. I mean, are alike are Miranda Otto's character and Marcia Cross'?

About that Texas Mom: I was mostly amused, 'cause if ever a human being didn't feel guilty about a lie, that woman fit that bill perfectly. My favorite comment? When asked if she told her daughter, she responded: "Yes, I told my daughter the truth. I told her we wrote an essay and they said it was a lie." Priceless! Don't we just hate it when they don't get it? :)

I'll pass on the Miley Cyrus thing. A little too icky for my taste. I've got too many siblings around her age.

And that video game commercial? Sorry guys, I thought it was hot. Definitely exploitative, but hot :)

I don't watch reality TV so I can't comment on Tila Tequila, except to say based on everyone else's comment perhaps she should look for another job?

Can't wait for your SMMWT blog, I'm interested in your take on Cashmere Mafia. Hint: I liked it. :)

    LLgood's picture

    Miley Cyrus

I hate her show and the fact that people are making such a big deal about those pictures.  I watched one episode of Hannah Montana and I wanted to shoot myself in the foot.

That commercial for that video game was so funny.

    trypr's picture

    What to do...

I think Tila Tequila/Shot at Love is truly awful as well but in spite of the fact I held this opinion from the start (and had it reinforced), I am actually very encouraged that so many of the people here were willing to "give her rope", on the basis that she had recently "come out" as "bisexual".

It's undoubtably to do with the significance the coming out process can have, which I imagine most readers understand, but it was also a very even handed gesture considering the dubiously confrontational setup of the show. I guess I'm saying; don't feel too bad for trying to be optimistic about it :) Even if it's bad, I am very glad people are paying attention and saying so, and Karman's recaps were so funny: I didn't watch a single episode but enjoyed the coverage very much.

However, given we know what's around the corner for next season, should the site cover it? On the positive side, we can at least keep an eye on it and snigger as the show is ripped apart for our collective enjoyment. To the negative, do we become voyeurs if we endorse it's established format as any form of entertainment?

Personally, although Karman was very funny, I'd err to the negative with the second series: there are likely to be no suprises and nothing newsworthy. If something different happened, good or bad, then I'd like to be told about it, even hear a brief summary of the season, but I don't think the series is worthy of episodic coverage. Your writer's talents and reader's time are better spent somewhere new, in my opinion.

    lustt's picture

    I thought it was convenient

I thought it was convenient how Tila and Bobby mysteriously ended just as news about A Shot At Love 2 was hitting the airwaves! It's more obvious to me now that this show is completely false (I knew I wasn't the only one that though so.)

Gawd, I can't foresee watching another season of that crap! Poor Malinda and Sarah P. =( Don't make em recap it, boss lady!

    Will blog for food!
