Charlize Theron kisses a woman for charity

Actors Jeremy Piven and Charlize Theron (an outspoken advocate of gay rights who has played queer roles in Head in the Clouds, and Monster) were special guests at fundraiser last night for OneXOne, a charity that provides food, water, healthcare and education to children in Ethiopia and Rwanda. (Matt Damon is a prominent spokesperson for the charity, but he had to pull out of the fundraiser at the last minute.)

During the live auction, Theron offered a 2010 trip to South Africa, which included World Cup tickets, a safari and a meet-and-greet with Nelson Mandela.

When bidding stalled at $37,000 — much lower than the $280,00 Piven had raised in the auction — Charlize got creative. According to US Magazine:

"For f--- sake! You can do better," she told attendees. "There is no way I am leaving here with Jeremy Piven getting a higher bid. I've got t---- for God's sake."

To sweeten the pot, she offered up a 7-second kiss for $130,000 to [one of the male bidders]. "Swine flu is going around. This is high risk kissing!" she told him.

After one man bid $135,000, a woman upped the stakes to $140,000 — ascending the stage for a 20-second smooch as the audience counted down.

"My boyfriend is not here tonight," she joked during the auction.

Good on Charlize for not caring about the gender of the winner; on the winning bidder for donating so much money for such a worthy cause (helping children, not kissing Charlize — although that's probably worth going the extra mile for, too); and on AE reader Angela for the tip!

Charlize's skill set. :-) Very shrewd and affective she is....not to mention beautiful. And I wonder who the lucky winner was??? All I can tell of her is that she is tall, thin, blonde, with a fancy for light green tights and very pretty ladies.

But what would be even better is if Charlize announced an upcoming event for a gay charity that she was sponsoring called: "A day of passion" At this event participants donate money for the charity, and in return, celebrities, like Charlize, would pick any of the woman there for a moment (or 2) of their personal passion --a sultry kiss for ex. It would still be a "kiss for charity", but the dynamics would be a little bit different. **smirk**

That is just plain awesome. I love charlize for her acting (Monster and North Country, totally deserving of the Oscar nods and win), as well as her being a real ally to us, and now she just upped her awesomeness in my books.

Go Charlize, woot woot! It's a shame though that she's not starring in that true story queer film with Nicole Kidman, if nothing else that movie would've had fantastic acting and I bet they would've made a cute couple :)

The fact that the video cuts off at 20 Seconds and not at the exact end of the kiss (They were still going when the guy said 20 and didn't immediately pull away) leaves a lot to the imagination lol. Like I had a whole scene play in my head where they continue and the guy is tapping Charlize on the shoulder going....Uhm....you guys can stop now....Lmao.
