The one-sheet for Jodie Foster's new movie The Brave One (opening
September 14) has just been released:

As far as I'm concerned, whatever she's done wrong, this poster more than makes it right!
(If you're one of those picky people who want actual information about the
film, read Dorothy Snarker's recent
post which has a plot summary, photos and the trailer.)

Wow
You're not kidding! That's an awesome poster! I'm not the type to hang posters in my room but that one actually had me wondering for a second where I could buy it.
Um . . . that wasn't very productive procrastination, such a short comment on my part . . . nothing left to comment about though . . . I'm almost a third of the way done transcribing the video blog . . . you guys did really well with the whole make-it-shorter-than-last-week plan. It's really fun to watch -- so from that angle I'm glad it's as long as it is. Anyway, I'd better get back to it.
Cool poster -- maybe that's what you should put up in your office. Right in that blank space over . . . what is that, some kind of Jenga art?
I...
I'll admit, I've never
I'll admit, I've never really gotten the whole Jodie Foster thing (I think it's because I'm just too young) but this movie poster is definitely making me reconsider my view on her. The poster's just downright hot!
"The quick to think are never sure"
--Tiresias, Oedipus Rex
Agreed.
Is it me?
Or does it seem to anyone else she ought to be clutching a microphone to her hip instead of a gun? It looks like Jodie may burst into the power chorus of "I Can't Live (If Living is Without You)" any second.
That certainly doesn't negate the hotness, however. :)
Vroom Socko!
I love that poster and it makes me hope that she shoots lots of MEN in that movie. :)

Well, not a microphone,
Well, not a microphone, exactly...holy phallic imagery, Batman!!
That is so hot! I haven't seen much about this film beyond a basic description. Does anyone know if it is going to be another Panic Room/Flightplan type of movie that is basically tough chick kicking ass or whether this one is going to have a bit deeper storyline as this poster seems to suggest? I mean, I love kickass, protective mommy Jodie but I'd really like to see deep, troubled, angsty, emotionally broken Jodie come back soon as well.
Since you asked K. May I
Since you asked K. May I point out that it seems the general hotness of the poster has distracted you from the last sentence of the blog! ;)
"call me old fashioned but I prefer feminism that leaves a little something to the imagination!"
Haha! I did read that.
Haha! I did read that. Didn't see the trailer though because I'm still on dialup, so maybe that would be what would answer my question more than anything else.
I saw the part where DSnarker said something about seeing all kinds of emotions run through Jodie's face in about a second and then she says, in a strong husky voice, "Give me back my dog!" or something. I guess what I want to know is if anyone has seen any more of the film because this scene, I assume, comes pretty early in the movie and I'm just picturing everything after 'give me my dog' as being just another Jodie kicks ass movie.
I'll probably just have to wait until there's more out there on the film. Hell, it doesn't really matter since I'm going to see it posthaste as it is (I saw Contact 7 times in the theater) but I hope after she gets her dog back she doesn't just go all Sara Connor for the next 90 minutes or so (not that that's a bad thing, but I've already seen it...multiple times...on DVDs that I own...and watch a lot...).
Anyway, while I'm here, when the hell is Jodie going to act opposite a woman? She barely seems to have had any interaction on film with women since 'The Accused' with McGillis. I guess there aren't a lot of movies out there where women interact in general but, damnit, I want some female bonding like we saw in 'Thelma and Louise' and 'Fried Green Tomatoes'. Ah, the good ol' days...
Haha!
Oh, man... that didn't even occur to me! That does put a different spin on it, doesn't it? Now there'd be an interesting movie. :)
Let me fantasize a little...
It's too early for me to even think, but I do like the poster too!
lesbian without borders
ugh!
i can't stand the jodie foster worshiping on this site anymore!
maybe it's a generational thing?? i.e., if you're over the age of 30, and you're a dyke, you absolutely have to adore jodie foster?!
enough!
it's kinda like britney spears and her chronic wardrobe malfunctions. over-done! no more! please! uncle!

Um... that seems a little harsh.

Never too much Jodie adoration...
excuse me?!
Dude I was 11 when I started
poof!
i was a jodie-phile, too -- all the way from nell through silence of the lambs through that one movie (what's it called again? she's trapped herself in a secret chamber room with her asthmatic daughter while robbers abound in her house??) until flight plan. and then poof! it was gone.
i'm sorry, but i'm so over the i'll-take-strong-leading-lady-roles-where-i'll-constantly-be-pitted-against-the-wiles-of-a-tough-guy-and-stick-it-to-'em. i can't help it; i get bored easily by chronically recurring tropes. it's stagnant.
i'll give you guys this: if she tries to change up the roles that she takes on, just like she used to, then i'll be a jodie-phile again.
well. maybe.
p.s. agnetha, benny, bjorn, and anni-fred, a.k.a., ABBA, rock!

I wrote I'd like to paint
I wrote I'd like to paint the poster and that's it. it's not a good photo of it. the left side is to bright. it took me only one day to paint it. usually it takes days or weeks (and sometimes months) to finish a painting but this poster is hot and cool that it was real fun to paint it. can't wait to see the movie
acrylic on canvas. 24" x 32"

HOLY SH*T!!!
That painting is f*cking unbelievable! This is so lovely.
I am amazed. I hope my next question doesn't offend you.
Would you like to sell it?
Incredible!
Thank you for sharing your art!

Nice!
I have my issues with Jodie, too, about the cat and mouse game she plays around her personal life.
But, I also sympathize with celebrities of all persuasions who try to retain some modicum of privacy about their lives when the relentless paparazzi give them no room to even breathe.
The poster is very nice and Jodie just gets more beautiful with age.
