"90210" fans get more episodes, more Silver, and Maeve Quinlan!

The CW's 90210 is the first fall show to get a full-season pick-up.

In announcing the news, CW Entertainment president Dawn Ostroff says 90210 represents "another step forward in building a cohesive schedule that defines this network as a destination for young women with shows that get our audience talking — and watching." (Let's hope she adds "and eating" to that list soon — the girls on the show are so thin, I'm expecting them to show up with translucent skin on Fringe soon.)

According to Variety, the show opened big, giving the net its highest-rated premiere ever in its target audience; dipped in week two, but started to tick back up last week, especially when DVR numbers were factored in.

In more encouraging news, veteran Gilmore Girls writer Rebecca Kirshner is joining the series not only as an executive producer, but head writer.

Conversations continue with Jennie Garth to extend her role on the show, but Shannen Doherty is definitely gone after tonight's episode.

Speaking of tonight's episode — one of our favorite honorary lesbians, Maeve Quinlan (South of Nowhere), finally makes her appearance in a small but memorable role as Adrianna's hellish stage mom.

Most importantly, this means Jessica Stroup will make a lot more appearances as Erin Silver, who appears to be the frontrunner for favorite character with lesbian viewers.

Here are a few stills of Silver in tonight's episode, sporting a slightly different look than her usual "don't f--k with me" one:

The bad news for lesbian/bi 90210 fans? Those rumors of a lesbian character on the show appear to be just that — rumors. GLAAD is issuing a comprehensive list of shows with LGBT TV characters for the 2008-2009 season later today, and 90210 does not show up anywhere on it.

Which means all you Annie-Silver shippers will just have to keep the love alive through fanfiction.

With this pickup comes even more questions. Will Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) finally get over Dylan? Will Lori Loughlin finally get a storyline? Will Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) stop looking like a 35-year-old stripper masquerading as a teenager?

    Hearing that Silver will most likely not be gay is bumming me out...but not just because she's hot, but because I feel starved!

    To say that I'm excited for South of Nowhere is an uderstatment! Yes, I love gossip girl and all their lesbian subtext...but I need just plain text!

    IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR A NORMAL LESBIAN RELATIONSHIP THAT DOESN'T TAKE PLACE ONLY AT OR AROUND SWEEPS?!

    I don't watch Gray's and with SON and the l word's days numbered I'm thinking about giving up on tv.

    Hell, I'd watch LL and Sam in a reality show if it gave more visibility!

    The first thing that I remember thinking about the new 90210 was: This Silver girl is Hot!!!

    I'm so excited that Maeve is finally on the show, she's the hottest mom on TV ever!!!

    And really happy because we'll be able to see more Jennie Garth, and Shannen is gone ( I never liked her)   :D

    Bitter: Shannon is gone....I love the connections to the original BH, 90210...guess I'll just have to pray Jennie gets more facetime!

    Sweet: Silver is byyyy far my fav character!  Hopefully her bs with what's-his-face won't last long....even if she's not going to gay it up at least she's good eye-candy! ;)

     Sidenote: Glad they finally factored in the DVR numbers...I think that's just as good of a measurement...kind of sucks for advertising cause I know I fastforward through the commercials on my recorded stuff, but oh well! =]  Maybe shows will just have to start doing more product placement, as long as it's subtle re: L Word "Are you still on I-Cal" lol

    I don't think I've seen it posted anywhere on this site... there's definitely a clip of this on Youtube from a movie called "Broken" Jessica Stroup was in, and she has a hot makeout scene with Heather Graham. I haven't seen the whole movie to know if there was a storyline to go with it... but it was pretty hot.

    No storyline, Graham is a waitress in a cafe, trying to steer clear of drugs. She works the third shift and Jessica's character comes in with some buddies, and she is on exstacy and for some reason just randomly follows graham into the back and starts making out with her...That's about it, but it's a totally hot scene!!!!

    Yep, it's her, and that was the best part of that movie!!! Jessica is WAAAAAAAAY hotter than Heather, not saying that Heather isn't hot, though...

    SIlver definitely gives off some gay vibes, but they're totally over-doing this flirtation between her and Dixon.  She's definitely going to end up dating him.  :(

    was I the only one who just kept thinking of "south of nowhere" when I was watching the first few episodes?

    I meen: a family moves to a new town. one daughter, one adopted black son. first day of school, annie meets this cool "outsider" girl with a bad attitude. dixon is having trouble with him beeing adopted. and the most obvious scen of them all: when annie looks at silvers tattoo. I meen hey! I've seen all of this before, on a much much better show!! 

    and now Maeve Quinlan makes an apperance (awesome by the way!)

    if they need to copy this much, why not ad a lesbian storyline as well!?!

    yeah, I cant believe how similar they are, but then again, SON is a rip off of the OC, (especially Paula/Kirsten and Arthur/Sandy!!) and the OC is a rip off of 90210, so its all full circle!

    Silver is so freakin hot, but too skinny, I really wish she would eat something.I would LOVE her to be gay,but I just dont see it happening :(

    I thought it was so cool she got to have a role in the very first two minutes of True Blood, she's so hot, I was so jealous of that dude in the car with her!!!

    I totally agree. the complete setup storyline is exactly the same. even the personalities and teh characters are similar. if only silver was "not into labels" like ashley.

    and i have to agree about the skinniness. she would be totally hot if she like... ddint look about to poke out ur eye with a rib or elbow.

    And wish she had more screentime.  That's the thing with these ensemble casts.  There are SO many characters that they try to cram everyone in to one show and people get left out and/or it can end up a jumbled mess.

    I actually dont care for her at all, her character annoys me AND the actress said some bitchy stuff about Shannen D before she signed up, something along the lines of "No one wants to touch that mess" Brenda is queen of everything, that ho deserves a beatdown!!! I'm sad there'll be no more Shannen.

    THIS SUCKS I WAS REALLY HOPING THAT SILVER WOULD BE THE GAY CHARACTER BUT NOW IT HAS TO BE LEFT TO IMAGINATION....BUT I WILL STILL WATCH FOR JESSICA AND MAEVE

     Yes, AnnaLynne McCord looks very mature for her age... (she's a year younger than me but looks ummm about 15 years older) but it's not that I can't get past. Everytime I see her on 90210, I still always picture her as CRAAAAZY Eden from Nip/Tuck.

     I think those pictures of Silver are for next week's episode but nonetheless, she's hot. She's was far hotter in 06 with a few hamburgers in her belly but still hot :)

    hearing the rumors that Silver is not the gay character on the show is making me sad, the show is good and all but i would like to see someone i can relate to. It would be nice to see more lesbian characters played on tv shows besides the girls from the L word, i think there's enough gay male & straight characters on t.v why not a lesbian for a change?

    i lurve silver, but i really don't know what to think about her relationship with dixon. jeez why couldn't they just make her gay so i can be happy?

    I just watched the first episode of 90210 and at the moment I saw Silver I was like, "she's so gay" and as I knew there was an article about 90210 on AE, I was sure the article was about Silver being gay and everything. And what did I learn? she's certainly not! (WTF?! it's obvious she is!!)

    By the way, I think South Of Nowhere and 90210 have a lot in common: a family moving to the West coast, with an adoptive balck child ... AND soon Maeve Quinlan! 90210 seems to be a straight South Of Nowhere for now...

    Like many here I LOVE Silver and she def gives off a gay vibe.  To all those despondent that she appears to be straight  - don't give up hope.

    Remember there was no indication that Willow was gay until Season 3! If 90210 goes that long there's always a chance :-)
