As a resident of larkhall (not the prison the town) I think its more of a scottish thing they fry mars bars in some other places too but no one outside of scotland has even heard of it!
i have noticed that deep fried ice cream is becoming popular which boggles my mind!

When I was 17, I gave up meat for six months to support my sister but one night I ended up sneaking out at midnight to In-N-Out for a hamburger only for her to find a ketchup packet in my car a week later. I've been dedicated to my meat ever since.
But fried foods, ick! Just so much fat and grease, it makes me feel disgusting and oily. So that makes me a very good half-American which suits me since I held a dual citizenship until last year!

Living in England, I had my first battered mars bar in Scarbrough, but I live pretty far south now and have managed to get my local fish shop to make them for me.
But they're so greasy I really can't face having them very often but end up buying them everytime I go in out of guilt (he pretty much throws one in the fryer every time I go in).

fried Mars, Twix, Snickers, Twinkies...I even heard they deep fry pizza. Favorite was the Twinkie...the chocolate bars melted too much, the Twinkie was yummy once the creamy center melted into the sponge cake. Oh, and the fish and chips are yummy as well.

Then you're most likely SCOTTISH! The land that originated the deep fried pizza, mars bar, haggis, black pudding, and just about everything else under the sun. Why stop with simple fish, chips and chicken? LOL In fact, I believe the guy that runs the chip shop in Brooklyn (mentioned above) is a Scot (...wasn't he the one featured in the extras of "Supersize Me"?).
