Jordana Brewster joins the cast of "Chuck"

In the past the linster has given us good reason to tune into NBC’s Chuck, now here is another: Jordana Brewster has signed on to the series as the former flame of the show’s title character and will be appearing for at least three episodes.

Brewster's character Jill is Chuck’s old girlfriend from college that broke his heart. Executive producer of the show, Josh Schwartz said this about her character’s relationship with Chuck:

He always has imagined seeing her again, and being able to impress her with all he's accomplished. Unfortunately, when he does meet her, he's doing a computer install and she's a brilliant, successful, beautiful doctor working to create antibodies to horrible diseases.

Ouch. Poor Chuck. That moment gets filed under: P for Painfully embarrassing life instance that will haunt you forever.

I’m glad to see that Brewster will have a recurring role on television, even if it’s for only a few episodes. I was crushed after hearing that the TV pilot that she was set to star in, Mr. and Mrs. Smith (based on the movie of the same name), was no longer being picked up by ABC.

Although if you are going to make a film into a series staring Jordana Brewster, how much better would it be to have a television version of D.E.B.S? I know, I know, “Silly Reese, that is far too much gay for the networks to handle.” At least her character of Mrs. Smith would have had some of the gun wielding and bullet dodging markings of Lucy Diamond. (I’ll take what I can get.)

Networks seem to love taking a successful movie and, presuming that if it made big money in the box office once, surely people will watch it again if it’s presented on a weekly basis with completely different actors playing the roles. With the rare exception of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and M*A*S*H, films don’t generally translate well into television shows. (Please reference: My Big Fat Greek Life, Clueless and Dirty Dancing as further proof.)

I still would have tuned into Mr. and Mrs. Smith, regardless of the shows dramatic merits, simply because I am a fan of Brewster. Alas, since that series doesn’t look like it will happen, I will happily take my three episode helping of Ms. Brewster on Chuck for all they are worth.

    I hardly ever see her in anything anymore. I might watch just to see the beauty of Jordana, I can always change the channel to ''The faculty'' I swear that's on all the time.

    OMG.

    OMG.

    This is seriously like my dream come true. Chuck is my favorite new show. It's so witty. Zachary Levi is adorable, and Yvonne Strahovski is HOT. And Josh Schwartz (creator) created The OC, one of my all-time faves.

    And now, JORDANA BREWSTER?!? Sweeeet Jesus. *faints*

    Is utter perfection in my eyes! I love this actress ever since, -- well forever. Ha-ha... She'll be in The X Files movie also! I can't wait!! Gorgeousness and I'll definitely watch that Chuck episode!

    I love Chuck! It's so fun to watch and the characters are charming and adorable :) One of those rare shows where i'm ACTUALLY rooting for a non-lesbian couple to get together. haha Chuck and sarah have unbelievable chemistry. They seriously make me blush. Their kiss was all kinds of awesome that I.. kind of squealed.

    But then add in jordana brewster?? Oh dear. I hope she turns out to be an undercover spy or something so we could see her in familiar territory i.e. sleek black attire and guns. Speaking of familiar territory, it wouldn't hurt if she turns out to be bi/lesbian too. Gosh the possibilities.. I think my TV (and my head) could encounter problems processing all the hotness.

    Although Yvonne Strahovski and Sarah Lancaster by themselves could make me tune in each week, the show is great by itself...not to mention that my friend and I made up a dance to the theme song. Like whitetank, I actually root for Sarah and Chuck to get together.

    and now Jordana Brewster, even if it is for a few episodes...maybe she'll be an undercover spy like Rachel Bilson's guest-starring spot last season....it'll be better than chocolate :)

    I watched the first episode of Chuck and then the last three episodes of Chuck and from what I saw I liked it. Now Adding Jordana? Hell replace the blond hair chick with her and I swear I'll never miss another episode!

    i already love chuck to begin with so this just gives me more reason to watch the show

    i too am on the chuck and sarah ship and i'm on the morgan needs to die ship. he annoys me to no end

    I love Chuck and can't wait for it to come back!  It will be even better with Jordana in it (even for 3 eps.) too!  With her on the scene maybe Sarah will step it up a bit...I forsee great scenes with those two together! wheee!

    the first time i came across miss brewster was way back in the first of the Fast and the Furious movies, where she played the character Mia... but to me, she will always be Lucy Diamond !!! as for the show... unfortunately, i don't think i'll be able to check it out seeing that i'm living in HK and don't have cable >< oh wells, i'll always have my DEBS dvd ^^ hahahahahahahaha

    loved her since the minute I saw her on DEBS...never watched Chuck before, but I will totally jump on the bandwagon now.

    as Ms. Snarker said earlier in her BLWE post - I like to do a 3D and 4D view of those who interest me. and as beautiful as Jordana Brewster is, after seeing the pilot for tv's Mr & Mrs Smith remake, her dramedy (the blend of comedy & drama) acting and her inability to perform believable stunts needs major improvement - outside her campy factor in D.E.B.S.

    I love Chuck, and I'm not saying she can't fix it, but it'll be awhile before i jump on the Jordana train agian. My eyes and ears still haven't recovered.

    I agree. I liked Mr. & Mrs. Smith anyway, but with Jordana--WOW! I think it would've worked.  I've never watched chuck but you know I will now, even if I have to youtube it! Jordana, oh Jordana!!!

    For those of you living in the U.S, at least the west coast, next monday, . . . uhh. . Nov. 3rd Jordana will be appearing on Chuck!!!!
    I saw the promo for it, and i was gonna start a thread for it, but im betting that there is already one, so lets hope that an After ellen exec. will read this and notify the public!!!!
