Feist counts "1,2,3,4" on "Sesame Street"

It’s not surprising that of all the singers to pick from, Feist was chosen to be on Sesame Street to help kick off their 39th season, which premieres August 11th. Her monster hit single “1,2,3,4” has been reworked into “1,2,3,4 Monsters Crawling Across The Floor” in order to help teach the kiddies learn to count to four. I mean, who cares about learning to count from five to infinitive when Feist is singing to you?

So are you ready to see the cutest thing in the world? There is happy music, singing chickens and penguins, so consider yourself warned. You may want to find someone’s cheeks to grab onto because you are going to want to squeeze the heck out of them once you are done watching the video.

Has counting to four ever been so joyful? Watching that makes me want to buy the world a coke, hug each and every one of you and maybe even adopt four dancing penguins. I love counting to four.

Feist will be just one of a large list of celebrities set to appear on Sesame Street’s upcoming season. Other guests will include: Will Arnett, Jessica Alba, David Beckham, Heidi Klum, Brian Williams, Neil Patrick Harris, Sandra Oh, Jack Black, Jenny McCarthy and Cuban ballerinas the Feijoo Sisters.

In addition to having the amazing and adorable Feist upping the cool factor on Sesame Street, the famous children’s show issued a press release saying that this season it will "play on pop culture with all new parodies including: 30 Rocks, Pre-School Musical and Are You Smarter Than an Egg Layer?" 30 Rocks? If they are going to start spoofing the best shows on television then maybe I should start TiVo’ing this program now so I have it for the day when I decide to have children. When did Sesame Street become so hip and cool?

My only question now after watching Feist count to four is: where was The Count in all this? I would have figured this kind of song would have really wet his numerical palate. I can only image that he stayed out of the project because he felt threatened. He has been counting way past four for years now without drawing the kind of attention, awards and commercial deals that Feist has received. No worries Count, I don’t think Feist is going to be quitting her successful singing day job any time soon.

Thank you!!

I posted this to my Facebook account yesterday, and my friends thought I'd gone loopy. But now I'm not alone, I'm happy. And having watched Feist and the Muppets singing, I'm happier, and can't listen to the original without singing the new lyrics...

Cute!

That was absolutely adorable. I'm gonna send that link to a couple of my friends, they'll definitely get a kick out of it. :]

but she counts wrong in the real version!!

About to watch.. but no count?! that's terrible!!

I'm assuming they don't go futher into the song, if so it is worrying because following lyrics continue "One, two, three, four, five, six, nine, or ten
Money can't buy you back the love that you had then" which skips out the very important numbers that are 7, and 8!! dun dun..

and SS was always hip!! remember Monster in the Mirror.. Gina Davis, Julia Roberts, Robin Williams, Whoopie Goldberg (i think) loads of others and the SImpsons, and i know recently Natalie portman was dressed up as an elephant.. how do i know this?? YES i youtubes Sesame Street............

I feel so shallow about how I used to love Elmo so much, he has much less character than Grover say.. apprently tho, i used to change the channel when Big Bird went out of the scene, in an aim to find him :S ..  :P

today's post was brought to you by the letters AE and the number 18..

oh and.. if anybody knows 'The Mighty Boosh' I swear the 2 main characters ARE like a humanised version of Ernie and Bert.. ESPECIALLY the fishing scene.. which is near identical to E&B's "Hereeee fishy, fishy, fishy, fiiishhyyyy" sketch which was like the one my family always talked about for years afterwards..

edit: i've re-watched, it was awesome, SS songs always were! unfortunetly my brother is at a friends tonight.. he has the most biggest stretchy cheeks ever.. and now I've been advised to squish some cheeks so i don't die from muppet cuteness overload he's not here!!

Dude, you so beat me to it. Maybe if Feist knew she'd have to teach counting on Sesame Street she would have done some research.

Honestly...

This made me laugh, probably because it's so different lyrics wise from the original. It's a very cute song, though.

If Feist had been on Sesame Street when I was a kid, I'd have certainly tuned in. Although I'm not certain how much merit there is to only being able to count to four...

Math + Grammer = Xtra Fun

I've been humming *this* version of Feist's song since Tuesday, when Dorothy Snarker tipped us off: it's definitely a reminder that Sesame Street has always been cool!

I also think you're onto something with that five to infinitive idea, Reese: way better to work on basic verb tenses with the pre-school set than to attempt counting to—or even explaining—infinity.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10 . . . .

So so so adorable. Makes me want to be a 5 year-old again. Actually, I think I turn into a 5 year-old whenever I watch the video.

Anyhoo...it's absolutely lovely.
