Eating your vegetables will make you sexyAngela Bassett, k.d. lang, Diane Keaton, Pamela Anderson, Hayden Panettiere and Lauren Bush, all on the same list, all thanks to PETA. The voting for the 2008 sexiest vegetarian celebrity is underway and the ladies I mentioned are all nominated with 200 other names of well-known men and women. Last year's winners were country singer Carrie Underwood and The Tonight Show's Kevin Eubanks. They're on the list again this year, but they face some fierce competition: Rosanna Arquette, Jorja Fox and Emily Deschanel on the women's side, and Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Theroux and Rufus Wainwright on the men's. And those are just a few of the sexy herbivores on the list. I think it's great PETA has these kind of competitions, because it's a wonderful way to show the world that some very cool celebrities are vegetarians. It helps people understand the benefits of the lifestyle, such as better health and helping to stop animal cruelty. A celebrity who is spreading the word in her own way is Oprah Winfrey, who just started a 21-day cleanse on her show, during which she will give up animal products, caffeine, sugar and alcohol. Even though I think this is great, I must confess I'm not a vegetarian (that's why I'm not on the list, obviously.) I do feel bad about it, so I at least eat tofu and soy just as often as I eat meat or fish. (I'm trying, I swear!) I didn't know that some of the people on the list were vegetarians, and I was especially surprised with Lauren Bush and Chelsea Clinton. However, they aren't the sexiest vegetarians on the list, as you may imagine. So, here go my 3 top choices for sexiest vegetarian of 2008. )I know you're only supposed to choose one, but that's way too hard.) Naomi Watts The first time I saw Naomi Watts was in Mulholland Drive, that very cryptic (or crazy) movie directed by David Lynch. I've loved her since. How can you not like her scenes with Laura Harring? Sexy, I tell you. Natalie Portman Natalie Portman's appeal is, well, everything. She's beautiful, she's classy, she's intelligent (Harvard intelligent, I mean) and she cares about the environment. In addition, she hates spelling errors ("Spelling errors are a total pet peeve, which is embarrassing") and loves Scarlett Johansson's breasts, having told the UK Times, "Seriously, I would want to grab them. She's got beautiful ones." Lisa Edelstein Ah, the lovely Dr. Cuddy from House. I believe all of us are secretly wishing for a Thirteen/Cameron/Cuddy ménage when we watch the show. No? OK, just me then. Actually, I don't even mind if she hooks up with House, but only if we can get more of Stripper Cuddy. Oh, yes. Seriously, what more do you need to become a vegetarian? And who are you voting for? Submitted by on May 22, 2008 - 1:00pm. |

Hard decision but.......my
Hard decision but.......my vote definitely goes to Jorja Fox. She has to win this year!!!
Woohoo Vote Jorja :O)
okay, I'm obviously biased
but k.d. lang! duh. lesbian icon, freakishly gorgeous woman, a voice that reduces mortals to shivering wrecks? Come on.
But then again, I'm not really pro-vegetarian. I think it's fine if people are vegetarian, just as long as you don't try and convert me. It's not as bad as evangelical Christians, but sometimes it gets a little annoying.
She's not on the official list (this year) but my vote goes to
I Agree
I agree Bridget is definately the hottest vegitarian!
*~SHE'S NOT A DOG SHE'S A MAGICAL UNICORN!!!~*
Yes please!
Difficult to choose....
Haha. Funnily enough, i was
Haha. Funnily enough, i was at party just this weekend where the topic of "hot chicks" came up.
One guy mentioned Natalie and then instantly two girls I know agreed with them. They called her their dream girl. They are "straight". Haha.
Yes, i would do Natalie in a heartbeat, despite the fact that my dad is Islamic, and would thereby shun me. It would so be worth it =D
so does anyone remember...
Yes, I remember
Lisa Edelstein!
Quite a list, so
Yay Vegetarians!
Lisa Edelstein
I watched the Stripper Cuddy clip again and my brain instantly forgot everyone else you'd mentioned before her.
I'm not a vegetarian, though, because I believe that the healthiest diet includes everything in moderation. I only eat meat once or twice a week, and only from animals that are raised on organic farms that I'm familiar with (except when I'm being served dinner by someone else), and fish that I catch myself.
Being a vegetarian is definitely a good choice, though, if one takes the time to learn about it. I find it a bit worrysome that a lot of young girls decide from one day to the next to be vegetarians without taking the time to learn about nutrition and proteins and what they'll need to eat instead once they cut out meat from their diet. I've seen it lead to under-weight and malnutrition several times.
Flexitarian
I guess I'm a flexitarian, becuase I don't eat meat that often. I didn't chose to not eat meat, I just don't like it, same with eggs.
The only time I eat "real" meat, not hot dogs or hamburgers, is when I am at home, which is once every month or so.
I eat alot of peanut butter and nuts, so that is my protein, and although I do not like eggs, I do eat them on a 12 grain bagel with cheese every morning for breakfast.
Bridget...
...McManus gets my vote, even though she's not on the list :)
I can't even think straight...
well my obvious vote is
Pink!!!!!
Heh.
You must be the change you want to see in the world.
-- Mahatma Gandhi
I am a...
Bridget McManus!!!!!
Obv, Bridget is by far the 1st choice!!!!!
However, incase of some complete injustice that she doesn't appear on the list? My choice is torn between Natalie Portman and P!NK
Too hard to choose!!
Ruben Studdard???
Why can't he be veg?
Veg does not always equal healthy. You can be fat and be veg. There are LOADS of junk food out there that you can eat which are veg.
And there are also other reasons to be overweight ... I'm veg, rarely eat junk food and I'm still overweight.
you're right
Hayden Panettiere.
I find it comforting and rewarding that there are a lot of celebrities out there who adhere to a vegetarian diet and lifestyle. Though being a vegetarian is often difficult in an omnivoric world, it truly is worth the effort. I'm proud to be a vegetarian, fighting animal cruelty by connecting with the herbivore within me.
My vote would have to go towards Hayden Panettiere who not only is a vegetarian, but is an activist who tries hard to protect the world's beautiful creatures. Not to mention that she is a very beautiful girl.
Peace and Love.
Natalie Portman
I think she is fantastic!
I'm very surprised that Jenna Bush is a veg- maybe soon she'll come out as a Democrat too!
Check out and upload your own great lesbian videos on www.tellofilms.com
Where did you get that Jenna
Pink
I voted for Pink, but i think they should also listed Missy Higgins.
Missy Higgins
how did I write something
how did I write something that wrong? I just re-read it and found that something was missing.
I mean: "I think they should also have listed Missy Higgins.."
when i read this, i thought
when i read this, i thought you must be mistaken, 'cause i voted for missy higgins. apparently, she's only listed on the asia pacific site. weird, huh? most of the celebrities, you can see on both sites but missy was definitely overlooked. she's pretty awesome. aside from being a vegetarian, she's a very talented singer/songwriter. and judging from interviews and banter in-between songs in her concerts, she's got a great personality, too.
if you want to vote for missy, please go to

Peta kills Animals

PETA's response
I'm not 100% pro-PETA or anything because I find a lot of their campaigns sexist. I stopped giving money to them a long time ago. But to be fair, here is their response the the whole "PETA kills animals" charge: http://faculty.smu.edu/jkazez/animal%20rights/Response%20to%20PETA%20kills%20animals.htm
They don't respond publicly because they don't want to give the other group more publicity, but this is a letter they sent in response to a query about it.
The KFC Conspiracy?
lol oh yeah I believe that. Oh that sneaky KFC lol! Peta's official non-public response? LOL! What a joke.
-Nathiestlive for lust die for love
That's interesting
Did you actually read that letter? Cause what it says is Yes, PETA is euthanizing the majority of animals surrendered to them because they think it's more humane than life in a cage and "There simply are not enough homes for them. Using Virginia shelters also means that there would be fewer homes for animals already in Virginia adoption facilities."
Which is completely understandable if the organization is making it clear to people that they are going to euthanize 90% of the pets in their care - but I never got that impression. The image in their ad campaigns is of people who care about saving animals and treating them with love and respect, not people who are going to euthanize the 6 year old cat you just surrendered cause you can't afford to feed her anymore.
I gotta say I'm horrified.
I have respect for vegetarians
I would love to be one but with college and being home, it's not easy. At my college the only vegetarian thing you can get is a plain salad and a bean burrito. I live in the dorms when I'm at college, so I don't have stove when I'm there. I may slowly move towards more of a flexitarian diet since I'm home for a month. I do eat hot dogs and burgers without meat which are delicious. My vote for sexiest vegetarian is Natalie Portman. I especially loved the quote about Scarlett LOL
"It helps people understand
"It helps people understand the benefits of the lifestyle, such as better health and helping to stop animal cruelty."
I love how an organization that promotes stopping animal cruelty has no problem practicing human cruelty, like throwing paint on innocent people or pies at Anna Wintour.
Ummmm
Using Anna Wintour as an example as an "innocent" person won't work in this case. She has criticized people who are against wearing fur, has treated her employees at times horribly which has cost her some money in court, won't allow women who are not skinny enough to her standards on the cover of magazines, etc. She isn't the innocent victim you re portraying here. Also, no organization can have complete control over people who support them
meater
Someday I will probably end up becoming a vegetarian, (I am very soft, eventually it will catch up with me!) but I was raised as and am for now a total meater! When my sisters and I were little my Dad said he would kick us out of the house if we were stupid enough to become vegetarians. He also said he'd rather we were lesbians than vegetarians, so when I do eventually decide to come out to him I'll probably do it that way
"Hey dad, I'm a vegetarian."
"What?!?!? Why? Thats the stupidest thing I ever heard, blah blah blah!"
"No I'm kidding. I actually have a girlfriend"
"Oh right, well at least you're not a vegetarian!"
I picked Emily Deschanel and Casey Affleck cas I love them both. :)
Hilarious! That's kinda
Hilarious!
That's kinda what went on when I told my mom. Seriously.
She said she didn't mind at all I was seeing a girl, but she would put me on a clinic if I didn't start having meat again.
Fish it is, then...
...
Amber Benson?
I voted for...
My vote is for the talented....
Either
Emily Deschanel
yeah i am in love with her...one day she will realize she loves me too and we will go to cali and get married....
kfjgb;lrhv
