News, Reviews & Commentary on Lesbian and Bisexual women in Entertainment and the Media

It's time to get "Lost" ... finally!

The reviews are in — and they're practically gushing in their praise ("Oh. My. God." is how one reviewer put it). Tonight, at long last, we're finally getting back to the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815, led by emotionally scarred antihero Dr. Jack, and their weird, creepy, epic battle with the mysterious forces on that unplottable island that wreak havoc with women having babies (or something). I can't wait!

Sure, there are some downsides to the return. Even though Lost on Thursday nights is now going to be an oasis of newness in a strike-parched winter, it's only going to last for eight episodes. Sob. (Thankfully, by then Battlestar Galactica will be back!) And the long-teased gay character has never appeared. Maybe this will be the year, but I'm not holding my breath.

So to while away the hours until I'm back on the island, here are some photos from tonight's episode, "The Beginning of the End." I haven't read any spoilers, so I can't actually offer you any hints as to what's going to happen. But feel free to speculate away in the comments!

Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) looks surprisingly happy

The boys in the jungle, looking, um, lost

Sun (Yunjin Kim), Claire (Emilie de Ravin) and baby Aaron

The French woman's daughter, Alex (Tania Raymonde), looking surprisingly sexy

The French woman, Danielle Rousseau (Mira Furlan) and creepy Others leader, Ben (Michael Emerson)

Kate (Evangeline Lilly) proves that sweaty is still sexy

If you feel like you need a quick refresher as to what happened in the previous three seasons, don't forget about the 8-minute long Cliffs notes video synopsis, which I'll helpfully provide for you right here:

The fourth season of Lost premieres tonight on ABC at 9 p.m. ET. It is preceded by a one-hour catch-up clip show at 8 p.m.

    FINALLY!!!

I've watched the show entirely (believe it or not) three seasons in less than a month!! Yes.. I wanted to know what all the fuss was about.. totally worth it!!!!!!!!!!! I got hooked right from the first episode..
I hope it'll be one of those shows that last more than 10 years.. yah.. like ER!!

sorry to break it to you

but the show is slated for 48 more episodes, and then it will be over...for good. their plan is to have sixteen episodes per season with no breaks for the next three seasons. however, with the writers' strike this year, we'll likely only have eight episodes. so next fall, depending upon the resolution of the strike, we'll probably have a 24-episode season.

    Addicted you might say

I have been completely addicted to this show since the very first day.  I love this show!!  In addition to watching the show and forbidding the phone to ring (we turn it off) I record the show so I can re-watch it to better theorize on the various plot turns and possibly catch easter eggs and such.

    Yes I'm addicted.

    LOST

Hadn't missed it that much but oh that recap just drew me right back in. Even though I've seen the episodes, that made my heart beat faster just like when I'm watching the show. Bad. Bad. Addiction.

    Let's get "Lost"...

I too have been looking forward to the return of "Lost".  Great show.  I love the characters background stories, the island, the Others, the Dharma Initiative, the whole bloody convoluted thing.

And, I just love Elizabeth Mitchell.

    Miz Mitchell

was on "The View" this morning looking lovely and about 9 feet tall! I've never noticed how tall she is before. 'Course part of that could have been because she was sporting some fierce leopard print Louboutin heels, that looked, to my fashion impaired eye, to be about 6 inches high.

And as a side note: if the French woman has been on the island for 16 years, why is she wearing cargo pants that look like they came from last year's J. Jill's catalog? Just wondering ...

    gay character

you know...i'm not sure they ever meant that a 'major' character would be gay. but Tom, the Mr. Friendly Other, was gay. remember the shower scene when Kate was first brought to their other island? she started to take off her clothes and told him not to watch, to which he responded with something to the effect of, "no offense, but you're not my type," followed with a knowing smirk. most people have taken that as his affirmation of being gay.

I figured that too, but I

I figured that too, but I hope he's not the only one they'll have, considering he's dead now.

    just watched

the new episode. I thought at the end as the two groups split I saw one gur with wire rimmed glasses reach out and take the hand of someone standing in the shadows who looked like a man. It wasn't very clear to me, but hey, it's Lost. If anything was clear it wouldn't match the rest of the decor in that crazy jungle house. Can't wait for BSG.Yay!!

    I noticed that too!

I noticed that too!  Something about the way he reached out made me think they were more than friends.  Glad I'm not the only one.

    Tania Raymonde! *swoons*

Tania Raymonde is eleven months older than I am, and she's the only actress of my age that I find attractive. She's smart and talented, picks great roles, has a unique style all her own... seriously, once you get me started on the awesomeness that is Tania Raymonde, it's hard for me to stop! I always squeal fangirlishly whenever I hear that she's in a new episode of Lost.
