Prolly something along the lines of a shorter, perky, cheeky, hypertalkative (with that same sense of honest tongue in cheek humour), brow-eyed, faintly sun tanned girl with her semi-curly hair pulled up, not really that gorgeous but pretty and charming in her chirpy way... aaand I dunno. Not really attractive to me in any version. Still I was kinda sorry for Dani, when he left. :(
Hmm it's kinda intruiging but from my point of view, both familys of the female contestants were really friendlier and warmer and laid back. In contrast Ryan's and Boby's families just cranked up and worked so... forced politeness? No good vibes, sorry, but no.
As for the future episodes - I sometime wonder if Tila even watches these episodes afterwards, or whether she ever watched the recordings from the hidden cameras. Because if she never did and never will, she might have ended up with the wrong person (although I'm still cheering for the greater global good of choosing Dani) without getting to know their bullshit (Amanda's hypocricy and Bobby's idiotic ignorance).
Lastly- for a time I was actually known amongst my friends as 'tequilla-chan'. And I confirm - tequilla makes people go crazy. Sometimes in a good (perverted sp?) way, sometimes in bahahaaad ways. Nevertheless, though I no longer drink it, I won't a refuse a shot... ;)

I'm confused about the whole asian fetish thing.
Hypothetically speaking, if I think Malinda looks hot on this Vlog, does that mean I have an asian fetish or does it just mean I think she looks really hot? ;-)

Do all white men have an Asian fetish?
No, but it is a fairly common fetish which has probably grown in recent years through the popularity of anime. I also think commonly believed stereotypes about asian women (the idea that asian women tend to be submissive being a big one) tie in to the male fantasy of asian women just as certain stereoypes about lesbians (2 women would be just happy to share themselves with whatever male happens along) lead the white straight male in to the lesbian fetish.
Without any real evidence, I imagine the asian woman fetish first started gaining real popularity after WWII and the occupation of Japan. Then, during Korea and Viatnam, more American soldiers were exposed to asian women (mostly through very inexpensive brothels). After Viatnam, many more asian immigrants started coming to American and traveling inland from the west coast. Plus, American soldiers started bringing their Asian wives and babies home.
In the early to mid 70's when I was in grade school, I don't recall any asians in my midwest white middle class suburb. Later, in middle and highschool in the late 70's early 80's, I definitely remember more and more asian students each year. The 70's also brought us the popular martial arts genre which exposed more young males to stereotyped Asian women.
But, this is all just guesswork. Young straight American males, at least to me, seem to have many fetishes based in belief of bad stereotyping.

I've actually thought pretty much the same thing about the development of the Asian fetish. As for the guys that i know, all but one have shown some variation of the Asian fetish, and the one that doesn't is a flaming 'mo (although he does occasionally joke that he'd go straight for Lucy Liu). But enough about that. I'm going to move on to some other points.
- Am i the only one who felt like Sarah's impersonation of Amanda rapidly turned into that of a drag queen hailing from Brooklyn? Is there something about Amanda's past that has yet to be revealed?
- I'm a little disappointed that they got rid of Domenico. If nothing else, he was actually pretty funny. I can't imagine that he'd look too different as a woman (except that he'd wear a mesh top to go with that thong). I probably wouldn't be sexually attracted to a female Domenico, but we could be buddies and he could be my sidekick on a random road trip.
- So if Tila is a baby at 26 yrs. old, i guess that makes me a fetus. And anyone over 36 must be a mummy.

I sympathize with people that aren't able to watch these vlogs, it really sucks =/ And thanks to AE for working on their own player so we can all see the video blogs, you guys are great :)
I know you're all very busy, and I wouldn't want you guys to have even more complications editing these, but I have a suggestion. How about just splitting the longer vlogs randomly in two pieces in order to upload them to Daily Motion? I bet none of the people currently unable to watch it would complain :) It's fairly simple, and so far, I think all vlogs I've seen would only have two pieces, since none of them are over 40 minutes.

Its not just men (cause its not just white men) who have that mentality when it comes to dating Asian women. My...girlfriend with complications? lol is Filipino and soooo many lesbian friends of mine in Miami and here at home would say "man you have got it made! she'll take care of you and basically do anything to keep you happy for all time!" and I would also just laugh at them, because they're just pandering to the stereotype. Yeah its a huge stereotype that Filipino women are "natural born caregivers" but my Filipina would smack me senseless if she ever thought that I expected her to just be both maid and girlfriend lol
Its just the image that's been promoted though, so I try not to curse them out for their ignorance. Too often its the culture itself that promotes that image. My girl's cousin, the only one in her family to accept her being gay, told me herself "You're going to have a great life, Filipino women live to please" So sometimes I can't really blame it on the machismo level or the ignorance level, because its just put out there for us to believe.
I know better though...I've had the joy of dating an Asian girl lol

I so cannot speak about US guys with that question but let met say that I know what the latin men in my island think about that....a couple of years ago I heard a conversation between a group of men, one of them was complaining that his wife was mad cos he was having an affair and that she warned that she could do the same thing to make him feel what she felt, so the guy said "she is crazy, she has no right to say that, she can't betray me, I do cos I'm a guy, for women is different, they can't have lovers outside the marriage" (best translation I could come up), anyway, one of the guys said in a joke manner, almost the same question "so what if she betrays you with another woman?" The guy said "I'll kill her"...and he didnt look like he was joking...the rest of the guys seemed to kinda agree to the statement cos they went quiet and one of them said "no, its not the same".
I think it has to do with the macho stigma, especially in latin countries, if a woman leaves a man for another woman that would make him look like "he wasn't man enough for her", its not a matter of that she was bi or lesbian all the time and she was hiding it etc. Noooo.. But in the other way, Malinda said "its no different", the whole point, if a woman leaves a man for another guy (or woman), was cos he wasn't man enough for her, which sadly, it tends to have tragic consecuencies here in the island, and I can say this cos I'm directly connected to 2 cases.
Anyway I don't know about guys here and asian fetish, but I do know, some chinese and japanese women are just stunning :-)
Asian Fetish Topic
First off, let me say that I'm glad that there was at least one other guy posting on this blog. Being a straight man, I was unsure if I was even allowed. ( Oh, and I love the Lo-Down!)
Secondly, it's not an "asian fetish". The word fetish gets tossed around too much nowadays. Let's call it what it is, an "asian fantasy". It just a fantasy that a good portion of men have regarding asian women. There are a few contributing factor to this fantasy, let's go over some.
1. The the hair and skin complexion. For the most part the hair's just dark, lovely, and lustrous, and straight. Take it from a black man, I love black women, but naps are not sexy. And the skin on beautiful asian women just seems to glow.
2. The stereotype that asian women are submissive. It a very Macho thing, but sometimes, the feeling of being in control is a turn-on. Hell they have a whole fetish dedicated just for that.
3. Asian women are for the most part smaller than most guys. Having and bieng with a smaller frailer (supposedly) women can make you feel empowered. This goes back to the second reason, but also plays a part in my next point.
4. Size. (I don't think I need to elaborate) this comes in two parts. Firstly a) it is a common stereotype that asian men have small penises, and if you've ever seen porn from an asian country, it seems to be true (sorry). Which in turn creates the myth b) that asian women are the ultimate "size queens". Cause in comparison even an average man can feel like King Kong. And with the woman being smaller, it seems that way.
So do all men, and it's not just white men, have an Asian "Fantasy"? No, cause I like a few asian women, and even among those like me, it's a matter of personal taste. Personally, I like a woman with more meat on her bones and especially the rear.

I'm self-hating? You don't even know me. As far as my statementis concerned it wasn't meant to be a blanket statement on the sexuality or appeal of black women in general. I don't find them sexy because my mother, a black woman that a greatly respect, always told me that naps are not something that just happens, it's a matter of not taking care of your hair, ie. combing, and styling. To take my statement regarding hair and turn it into a thing regarding how I view not only the women of my race, but the women in my own family, is a gross misinterpertation and greatly disrespectful. It it's very vain of you to think that in order to be attracted to a race or group you have to find every aspect of them attractive. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

first of all let me correct you, nappy doesn't have negative connotations attached to it unless you use the word in a derogatory manner, like don imus. there is a nappturality movement where black women are teaching themselves to accept their hair just as it grows out of their heads precisely because of black people like you and your mother, and people of all races who think of nappy, kinky, or tightly coiled hair as being unkempt, dirty, and unattractive. and what about the afro and black is beautiful movement, did you and your mother miss that too? this is ridiculous! educate yourself or at least use common sense. hair grows out of a black woman's head nappy, how she chooses to style her hair afterwards whether she puts a wig on, chemically straightens it, braids it, or just leaves it the hell alone is up to her. for you as a black man, with black female family members, to say that natural black hair as it nautarally grows, as it naturally looks (no matter what a woman chooses to do with it after it grows out of her head) is unappealing and put a premium on straight asian hair in comparison is insulting, disrespectful, hurtful, and WILLFULLY IGNORANT. saying that you don't love black women's natural hair is like saying you love asian women but you don't love the shape of their eyes. see how inane that sounds? you can't possibly love black women if you can't love the way they look. sorry. you can't.

I must say that when I first read the comment "naps are not sexy" I was taken aback, being a black woman with natural (read kinky) hair. Not because I want to be seen as sexy by all, but because it seems to imply that black women who have natural hair are on a whole just not that desirable. So many black little girls are subjected to chemical straightening to realize some ideal of beauty that denies a big part of who and what they are. It's sad to see the damage that results and the years needed to repair this when it could all have been avoided.
Qddavis you are allowed to define sexy however you want, but you should realize that your words have power and that phrase perpetuates a stigma that many of us black kinky haired women carry from childhood and into adulthood as we try to fit into the professional world.

That's what some guys have said to me and it's annoying cuz #1: I look nothing like Tila and it's a lil disturbing cuz I have a thing for Tila lol. And #2: it just proves that some people still think that all asians look alike no matter where we're from (i.e Vietnam, China).

I love you guys, I bet you could make even my Electromagnetic Theory textbook interesting, and that's the most awfully boring thing I've ever read in my whole life!
I was so surprised this week, because I actually thought for the very first time that Tila is nice. In all the past episodes, I always got this feeling like she was pretending to be interested or excited or distressed about stuff, and that she wasn't 'real'. But when she was with Amanda's family, she looked so authentic! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I kind of like her now. After 8 episodes lol
I agree that Amanda and Tila have ZERO chemistry. I don't understand how she's still on this show. I guess it's because Brandi left. Maybe Amanda would have been the next girl to go?
Tila definitely doesn't know how to 'meet the parents'. That's such a nerve wrecking experience for me, I would NEVER do anything even remotely close to what she did.
Ryan's family scares me. They look like this Barbie kind of family, all perfect, and way too polite. I would never want to be left alone with his dad, no way. And all the homophobia? I don't think they accepted Tila, it was just very weird. Bobby's family was a little better, and I actually thought they got over it.
But why aren't you talking about Life anymore? :( I love that show! Even if it's just a tiny segment in the end of the vlog, after the reenactment :P Pleeeease?

Do all white men have an Asian fetish? It would seem many do, but I don't think an Asian fetish exists. What I think exists are racist, or, at the very least, ignorant ideas about Asian women. I think the word fetish minimizes the issues we are discussing.
I don’t mind that someone would look at me, think I’m attractive, and want to get to know me better. Who would mind that?
What is f*cked up is when a person looks at me and makes presumptions about me similar to those listed in the “Asian [racist] fantasy.” It dehumanizes me, even if the person does not think they’re being negative or offensive. I cannot assume that Qddavis2 has those ideas himself. But, I’m going to assume that as a Black male, he’s constantly dealing with presumptions and misconceptions that the majority holds about him. What he has to deal with in that arena is probably more difficult than what I have to deal with, but all people of color deal with the same thing: we are judged through the lens of societal segregation,ignorance, and racist propaganda established during the days of colonialism and slavery. The ideas are so insidious and engrained that even people of color can have them about themselves.
But getting back to the ‘Asian fetish,’ (even though I denied its existence, I’ll use the terminology) it was a pain in the ass while I was single! I am a smart woman. I know the difference between when someone is into me for me and when I’m a target of the ‘Asian fetish.’ But it is such a time waster to have to sift through all that. It was either stupid “cultural” questions that were asked only because I was Asian and that was the only thing of interest to them and could think of to say, or, it was some (usually) white guy trying to impress me with his vast store of knowledge about ‘Asian culture.’ Or, it was some obnoxious guy on the internet replying to my personal ad and saying, “Youhave a nice rack for an Asian chick.”
But, what was probably most bothersome was trying to explain to a couple of naïve female friends why being Asian was NOT an advantage while dating. “All men love Asian women, blah blah blah…” Being Asian might get you more initial attention (though I don’t think that was my case at all), but not all attention is positive. Being hit on because some idiot has it in his head that you’re a submissive maid/porn actress who can make a great stir-fry is an “advantage” I can do without.
By the way, I love The Lo-Down. Malinda and Sarah, you are hilarious!

I definitely agree with you that what is often deemed as an Asian fetish is in fact a product of racist assumptions about Asian however, I believe that it is this notion that leads to this fetish. Many of these men take these notions and transfer them to all Asian women and they therfore become even more sexually stimulating.
Women of Color experience this a lot, its the whole notion of the exotic. Especially from white men (and some women) being of a different race/ethnicity makes you that cool exotic. Ryan's sister was a perfect example of that. Did you notice how she said Ryan had never bought a someone so "exotic" home. While I think her labeling Tila as exotic was reflective of the tendency of whites to place people of color as exotic, but it was also reflextive of her trying to find a nice way to say "Oh shit! she's not white! "

I have nothing useful to say about Asian fetishes, so I'll just whine about how much my stomach hurts from laughing so hard at the dolls. Ow! OK so I have to say that when Dani was describing how she would talk to a woman until the two of them just wanted to tear each other apart I knew EXACTLY what she meant and it still makes me tingly thinking about it, lol.
Do most white men have an Asian fetish? I think many do. As some posters have already pointed out it's likely more about the intersection of sexism and racism that leads to dumb ideas about submissiveness sexually and otherwise. And it's not only white men or even just men who are guilty. The Anime theory is new to me, however.
