I saw "A Shot At Love" last night. Before I watched it, I thought tila tequila was lame and weird looking. After watching it, I still feel like she is lame and weird looking, but that show is soooo funny. Some of the things Tila and the lesbians were saying in the confessionals, had me in in pain from laughing so hard.

I guess I'm more butch than femme though I don't fit into the dichotomy thing, but no, NO bikinis, ever, ever on a butch. EVER. EVER. honestly. If it's to the beach or a pool, it's shorts and a t-shirt. At least that's what I wear. Sports bra? all right. but bikini top? No!

My friend wears a tank top and shorts. Or a wet suit. Cuz she surfs or wakeboards or something. And my other friend wears a one-piece under all that and takes it off when she gets in the water. actually i do that too. yeah.

if i go to the pool.. it's basketball shorts and a wife beater.. i don't swim.

but the funniest part of the show was when Tila was like "she's so hot I just made out with her in front of what's her face." My best friend and i laughed for like 5 min. after that.

The purrrfect gear for pool or beach is definitely the one piece swim suit from TYR. It's a zip up from just below the navel. It's cut like a sleeveless T-shirt and short snug shorts.Black. UBER BUTCH! Don't know if they make them anymore :)

This show hasn't aired on my side of the world yet but I still enjoyed your recap, particularly some of Sarah's comments (ode to stationary) and her facial expressions just crack me up, I'm looking forward to the next episode already.

Awesome vlog! I thought the firefighter was hot until I saw the bikini top and it's rainbowosity, and I was like, "Seriously???"

I remember the We TV Lipstick Lesbians show--- it kept bugging me where Amanda was from and now I know! I just remember thinking how annoying she was and how hot her girlfriend was. Hopefully said girlfriend has moved on to greener pastures.

I've been browsing Afterellen for a while but I never bothered registering before. I just have to say a few things about the supertrashy show that is Tila Tequila:

These women were all thinking they were going to be on the first lesbian dating show on TV. They thought they were part of something groundbreaking, in spite of Tila's trashiness. Then Tila's all, "I'm a bisexual. You're competing with straight guys. Will I be gay or straight in the end? Tehe." That sucks more than any twist in reality TV ever! It's friggin' meaner than Joe Millionaire, and that's saying somethin'! (Yes, I watched that show. Don't judge me!) And then Tila's kissin' some girls and then going off somewhere else without even talkin' to the others. Totally rude!

I kinda liked Ashley in a weird way. He sort of an adorable kind of stupid. And he stood up for Bicurious Italian Dude, who I ALSO kinda liked in some weird way.

FYI, Amanda's not the only one from other reality(ish) shows: Marcus has been on at least two other shows I know of, My Very Own on MTV and Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency on Oxygen. On every show he goes on, he's kinda a jerk and never stops promoting his rapping career. I'm sure he's there for the "right reasons".

I totally agree that it's not right to hate on butches, Amanda did openly and Tila kinda did as well. Tila seriously sucks, in general. I'm only going to keep watching the show 'cuz I like Rebecca, Grace, and Dani. And that catfight in the season preview thingadoo looked promising.

I find that it's even worse now cuz the show is on. The guys are like "OMG if you wore less then you'd look hott like Tila Tequila!"...umm okay. Then there's the people out there like the Cowboy who automatically think that just cuz you're asian, you're gonna cook Chinese food or make sushi just for you *giggles in an asian way*.

Anyways...with this show, Tila's won my heart once again<333 I consider myself a true fan..myspace friends from the start wayy before the current 2 million.

Like many butches I am a little on the bigger side so, a sports bra just looks bad. I wear a one piece with swim trunks. Thanks for the tip on the women's surf shorts Kakisports.blog. I did not know anybody made those, not a lot of surfing here in Colo. I agree that even butch women need to wear women's clothes, definatly a different fit.

Is this particular going to play volleyball at the beach or is this butch going to surf or is this butch just on vacay with her life partner...

 If she's going to play Volleyball: Sports bra and/or bikini bottom or boy shorts.

While I sorta qualify as femme (long hair, dresses/skirts, tank tops with tiny straps), my gf would probably qualify as butch (short hair, blouses, baggy pants).

The line is kind of blurred, however, because I'm the one who captures spiders, does work around the house and has any feeling with electronic devices.

But for this post, I'll just focus on appearance :P

Ok I am single, and it's hard to meet really hot lesbians. It's not a put down it's a numbers game. Thats my first excuse.

Embarresingly I actually auditioned for this show, or what I thought and was told several times was going to be a groundbreaking moment for lesbians. *insert record scratch here*

I expected the worst when I watched the premiere. But really it seemed to me that she really liked the women more, though the guys were TOTAL TOOLS. Unless she's a brilliant actress she really is "a bisexual". Didn't there seem to be more chemistry with the ladies? And oddly enough, I thought she was totally cute in a her trashy way, and fun. I would want to hang with her, not to discuss deep issues on foreign policy, but for a fun night, totally!

But overall I thank the goddess that I didn't get past round 2 (too smart and too old i think..)

So~ much like when you are deeply smitten with someone you just met, and they break your heart in a million pieces, it hurts until you see them around town, being an idiot, wasted on the floor or screaming at their GF, you smile to yourself and say quietly.....

I love the vlog. You two are very entertaining. The singing, the snarky rants, and your other antics amuse me so.

On to the show...
I watched the episode and it was more entertaining than I thought it would be.
Of course there were the cringe worthy moments but that's expected of reality TV.

I agree that the guys were lamer then the women. I had a hard time watching them and their attempts to woo Tila. I also found Ashley's comment offensive, even more so since I'm Asian too.
Some the gifts they gave her were really bad. I mean seriously a teabag?! And the teabagging comment?! That's just disgusting. Then the hyena and cowboy going at each other; there is way too much testosterone. Although, the drama does make good reality TV. (By the way I loved the re-enactment of it.)

Now for the ladies I also thought it was odd that she wasn't having one-on-one time like the guys, but I'm glad they had the costume show at the end. Dani is hot in that firefighter getup. Although the bikini top she wore wasn't working for me in that pool scene...I agree with you on the editing of the show. It seemed really odd at some points. especially that part you pointed out Malinda.

On butch swim wear I would have to agree with KakiSports.blog, although I'm pretty sure there are plenty of butches who can rock the bikini top. It really just depends.

I thought Amanda was hilarious and I'm so glad she is on this show.  I have always felt like an outsider going to clubs where I am one of the only femme's there.  I felt like for the first time that there is this show that focuses on the lipsticks, and for the first time the butches looked out of place....it was GREAT!

Here also...I kill the bugs as the butch sits in the living room rocking like she's having a breakdown.  Anywho...

My other half wears O'Neill women's surf shorts...which are like boi shorts in the fact that they're short...but they are in cool butch black and royal blue colors...no pastels.

We found a black Nike top that's a cross between a sports bra and bikini top...it looks hot.  Plus it's black so we found other board shorts to go with it...that aren't so short.

well, i think women or anybody for that case, should not wear regular clothes swimming, this includes wife beaters/t-shirts. if you are not comfortable wearing the board short/bikini top combo, i would recommend something like this

and i also agree whoever made the comment that women should try to find boardshorts for women first, then guys shorts as a 2nd choice. I think they're more attractive than the extremely baggy, long guys shorts. Just my 2 cents.

I haven't watched MTV in about 5 years because I find most of the programming pointless; including this show. But your commentary makes up for the 30 minutes I waste watching it!

I agree with you Sara...the rainbow bikini top was a bit awkward on "the firefighter". Butches should go with shorts/trunks and a black tank top...there's just something sexy about a black tank.

I really wish this imaginary butch pool party were real, and happening in my backyard.

What should a butch wear to the pool, beach, etc????  I have no earthly idea.  I'm what you would consider a lipstick lesbian, however, as well all know, looking a certain a way in no way describes who you actually are. 

For me, I cannot stand bikini's...I might as well be buck naked out there...so I opt for my favorite, soccer shorts...sports bra and a t-shirt....my wife has actually gotten me to get shorts that actually fit, as opposed to the one size too big shorts...but that's about all of the update in swim wear you are going to get me in.  

To me, as long as you are comfortable with what you got on...then that should be your outfit.   

On the good-side, this vlog was great and I had trouble laughing quietly here at work.  On the bad-side, now I guess I am going to have to TiVo A Shot At Love because I liked the vlog so much.  :-/
