"Survivor" finale packs a punch ... and a surprise lesbian?Last night on the season finale of Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites, we were treated to one of the most dramatic jury panels ever — and I'm not just saying that. For the first time in Survivor history, the final four contestants were all women, and this women's alliance was led not by Ami Cusack, who unfortunately didn't manage to forge a useful alliance this season, but by the unlikeliest of castaways: 25-year-old Parvati Shallow, a "favorite" who previously appeared on Survivor: Cook Islands and was known primarily for being a flirt. The final four (left to right): Amanda Kimmel, Natalie Bolton, Parvati Shallow and Cirie Field This women's alliance held together because, I think, it had an entirely different feel than Ami's back on Survivor: Vanuatu, which ultimately failed. This alliance mostly flew under the radar, even though Parvati, Amanda Kimmel and Cirie Field had talked about it among themselves since the beginning. And they never labeled it as a "women's alliance" at all; this time, it was all about "the girls." Warning: Spoilers for finale after the jump Then, after the two tribes merged, Parvati brought in the young women from the tribe of fans: Natalie Bolton and Alexis Jones. The women then proceeded, through a series of blindsides and incredible persuasion, to pick off all the remaining men. Alexis was also voted off the island when the last man standing won immunity, making her the one female casualty of their alliance. Through it all, the women employed a combination of flirtation, flattery and feminine wiles to get the men to believe that they were on their side and they wouldn't be voted off the island. Though the women were clearly happy about being able to eliminate the men, there was little that was traditionally "feminist" about this alliance. Parvati and Natalie especially were gleeful about it, accepting and celebrating stereotypes about women being vicious black widows. It was an alliance straight out of Gossip Girl. In the end, the final two castaways were Parvati and Amanda, both 20-something women who had developed romantic relationships with two of the men, Ozzy Lusth (who is still, apparently, dating Amanda) and James Clement. But they did not emerge unscathed from the game; during the jury, every castaway whom Parvati and Amanda helped to vote out lashed out at them. Amanda was criticized for her whining and apparent lack of sincerity during tribal council; Parvati was called out for her backstabbing and manipulation. The most unusual exchange, however, occurred between Parvati and Natalie:
Is Natalie lesbian or bisexual? Rumors online suggest that she is, but there has been no official confirmation yet. In her CBS bio, she is identified as a 32-year-old personal trainer and bartender who currently is single and lives in West Hollywood, Calif. Ultimately, Parvati's backstabbing won out over Amanda's whining, and Parvati took home the million-dollar prize. What did you think of the Survivor finale? How do you feel about this alliance of "girls"? And has anybody seen Natalie near Jackie Warner lately? Submitted by on May 12, 2008 - 4:38pm. |

"I think she was trying to pick me up"

Reality TV World: What were you thinking when Natalie asked you that odd final Tribal Council question?
Parvati: I think she was trying to pick me up. Maybe take me on a date when I got back, I don't know.

Something More
I wouldn't look at Parvati and James as romance...well maybe in James's eyes. To Parvati it was flirt time just as it was the first time on Survivor. Parvati heavily charms men and women with a great deal of sensual energy, she is equal opportunity. The male stuff may get more airtime (because straight romance is the name of the game - yawn) but Natalie was just expressing what has been thrown around for awhile (and not necessarily hidden). The first time on the show, Parvati had Ozzy played and it was the other three (particularly Yul and Becky) who realized they needed to get rid of Parvati ASAP.
Also rumors are just as heavy on Parvati as Natalie. Nothing confirmed but maybe one of the two will have something to say down the line?
I think the better question,
huh?
I have never watched an episode of Survivor so maybe I'm missing something. But after reading that exchange, I'm not sure I would want Natalie to be gay--I like my women a little more articulate. "How does that resonate for you in the bedroom? How do you take that to the next level as far as strategy in the game?" Seriously? What is that supposed mean? Again, never seen the show, but I didn't realize sleeping with the other contestants was a level of the "game." Although, it might be a great way to win...just like homecoming queen.
On the other hand, the woman isn't hard on the eyes.
Natalie's question
haha I think my jaw dropped
I thought it was kind of funny that Parv admitted she was a big flirt and that she used it to get what she wants when only a few minutes before she had told alexis that she would be a great role model for girls. Hmm... I dont know about you but she's not exactly what I would call a role model.
I guess I'm just a little bit bitter though because I wanted Amanda to win and thought she deserved it more. Plus the fact that I thought Amanda looked super cute with a hat on backwards didn't hurt :P
amanda got robbed again
yeah i was voting for amanda and that sucks for her that she didnt win again 2nd place two times in a row
and did anyone else notice natalie slapping parvati's ass
Better question indeed
You guys are funny
YAY!
Yay! Battlestar Galactica!
Eh.
The exchange between Natalie and Parv was weird, particularly because of the awkward phrasing. I got the impression that Natalie was interested in Parv and wanted to know if there was something really there, or if was all about the game.
But who'd want to be with Parvarti, at this point? They keep calling it flirting which makes it sound more innocent but it all seemed a little hoe-ish to me. I don't even want to know what she did with James.
::shutters::
Overall, I thought that Cirie was the best player this season and it sucks that she was eliminated in the last Tribal Council.

Geoffrey: You fool! As if it matters how a man falls down.
Richard: When the fall is all that is left, it matters a great deal.

I wonder if maybe there's more to Natalie's question...
It was just a bazaar question.
Flirting
Natalie and Parvati were laying on the flirting bigtime last night, especially when they were leaving for the vote. I love the look (probably edited in and unrelated but still funny) by Cirie when the two were walking with each other's arms on their shoulders. Then Natalie grabbing a giggling Parvati's bottom. Can't blame her. Parvati seemed to be pushing Amanda heavy to vote off Cirie but Amanda wasn't interested. Parvati is not stupid and went along (smart move).
Parvati seemed interested in Natalie at least a bit. The James stuff was more comical (with Parvati's intentions being transparent). Maybe that's why Natalie had to know. She didn't want to be just the same as James (superficial flirtation). We'll never know.
maybe, maybe not
maybe parvati and natalie had a thing for each other. i don't know. i just couldn't get past that chick's name.
what kind of name is parvati? i know i don't have much room to talk, i have a strange name also, but still...i got a confused look on my face everytime i heard that name.
but parvati did teach american girls a valuable lesson...flirting gets you rewards. lol

Parvati is the name of
Um, it's a fairly common
Um, it's a fairly common Indian name.
Besides which, why do you care what her name is? Plenty of people have non-Anglo names or even just strange names, who cares?
Parv & Natalie
Survivor
I can't believe they went back to F2. Cirie totally got robbed in this. She may not have won with an F3 but she would have still had a shot. But alas Amanda fell apart again (which back to back seasons, I'll give her some slack and I do think she's completely genuine) and Parvati ends up winning. The streak does continue.
I agree that Parvati would flirt with anyone to get her way and she knew that. She played a much better game this season. But, if it weren't for a series of events and Cirie, she would not have made it that far or won, so really, she was lucky. I was hoping for an Amanda win but she never owned her game. Todd was a joke but he owned it. Same with Parvati.
And I hate the jury questions. They're usually not questions at all, but instead, various "You suck", "I should be there instead of you", and "Tell me why I'm awesome." Now we get a "Will you sleep with me?" from Natalie. It was funny uncomfortable but it's Natalie. She was invisible for the first half of the show but crazy and egotastic for the latter half. She made the most of her 15 seconds.
Lastly, shut up Eliza's face!
I came across this interview with Parv...
on TV guide.com
Survivor Champ Parvati: "I Was in It to Win It!"
TV Guide.com: Congratulations on your win and on making Survivor history by being part of the first all female final four.
Parvati Shallow: I know! That actually worked!
TV Guide.com: Did you expect that you would be going down in the history books when you returned to the show?
Parvati: I'm so excited about that. To start an alliance with this group of girls who were so brilliant and played their part so perfectly — I just couldn't have asked for anything better. Sometimes you'll get girls and they'll be jealous of each other, but it wasn't like that. We all worked so well together.
TV Guide.com: Now that you've got the money, what do you plan to do with your winnings?
Parvati: I'm just going to really focus right now on working and helping out the charity that I've been working for. It's called Knockouts for Girls, and we raise money for scholarships and provide boxing training for underprivileged girls.
TV Guide.com: What do you think made the jury vote for you over Amanda in the end?
Parvati: I think the jury respected how I plead my case at the end and how I stood my ground and didn't apologize for the moves I made. Outwit, outlast, outplay — that's the motto of the game. I made some bold moves, I took some big risks and I'm not going to apologize.
TV Guide.com: Did you understand Natalie's question to you at final tribal council?
Parvati: [Laughs] I think Natalie was trying to lighten the mood. Everyone was being so serious and spitting venom. Natalie and I were very close. I love her and she gets my sense of humor, and I think she was just trying to get me to relax.
TV Guide.com: Natalie got a harsh edit on the show. Did you see that side of her when you were playing?
Parvati: I think she was cast as the bitch. During the beginning of the game and when I was with her in Arai, she was so sweet — not a mean bone in her body. But all of a sudden she hit her stride, and she was thrilled to be actually part of strategizing and pulling off blindsides. I think that was exciting for her, and so she got a lot more vocal.
TV Guide.com: Did you ever consider taking Natalie to final three?
Parvati: I didn't, just because I made the original alliance with Cirie and Amanda. I felt so loyal to them from the beginning. I respect those girls so much. I think they're both brilliant strategists, and I couldn't have made it this far without them.
TV Guide.com: I was cracking up at you on Exile Island just sunning yourself. Did you ever even look for the idol?
Parvati: Actually I found the idol, but they decided not to show it. I lucked into it though. I found clues one and two, but then clue three was digging — it was not worth that much for me. So I went snorkeling, swam over to the side of a rock and I found the fourth clue floating in the water. It led me straight to the idol, but I left it there because I didn't want to bring the idol back and wreak havoc.
TV Guide.com: Was it easier the second time around for you?
Parvati: No. It was much harder because I played so ruthlessly and so hard. The first time I was out there, I was just having a good time. I was playing, but I wasn't driving myself forward. This time I didn't care about luxuries. I didn't care about going on rewards. I wanted to win.
TV Guide.com: Amanda mentioned on the reunion show that she came out of this with trust issues. Has Survivor taken a toll on you?
Parvati: Absolutely. I was completely traumatized. I was an emotional wreck. Usually I am very stable, but I was having meltdowns. I'm not the kind of person who runs around stepping on people to get ahead. I'm just not cutthroat in real life. The line was blurred between the game and reality when I got back. It was [also] a harder island. It had the worst weather, and we had less food.
TV Guide.com: Did you ever consider giving up?
Parvati: No, no, no. I was in it to win it.
TV Guide.com: Now that you're the big winner, are we going to see you popping up on a bunch of reality competition shows?
Parvati: I am done with reality competition shows. I might be hosting something hopefully, but my stint as a reality contestant, I think, has come to an end.
Natalie/Parvati
Are my wife (she's bi) and I the only ones that caught the blatant ass-grab that Natalie gave Parvati when they were shown starting their walk to the final immunity challenge? It wasn't a deliberate pan by the cameraman, but it looked as though he/she stopped walking and just as their asses fully entered the frame, Natalie's arm went from Parvati's left shoulder (standing to her right) right down to her right cheek for a nice, firm squeeze. Parvati looked at Natalie and giggled...end of scene.
We both caught it at the same time, and went frame-by-frame on the DVR to make sure our eyes weren't seeing what our minds were hoping to see. She did it.
Oddly enough, they both live in the LA area, and are both boxers.
Parvarti
Just wondering ....
Yummy Parv

And yeah i think that something might have happened between nat and parv. cause the way they eyed eachother is just 2 obvious!
