Sandra Bullock has a premonition ... of box office disaster?

Today Sandra Bullock's new movie, Premonition, about a wife who has premonitions about the death of her husband, opens in theaters nationwide. Critics aren't exactly loving the film, but they are loving Ms. Bullock. Here she is in a still from the film, looking all premonitiony (click "read more" at the bottom to see more pretty pics):

The Chicago Tribune says: "Bullock keeps her head down and acts with quietly considered intensity. It's easy to forget that she's a shrewd actress in many different genres, not just comedy. In drama, she's not the sort of performer who seems to be making things up as she goes--she's all about steady gazes and being in control, even when things are spinning out of control--but Bullock's razor-sharp technique has saved many a lesser film."

USA Today: "Bullock's acting is fine, particularly when she's challenged in some of the film's better scenes to appear as if she's going crazy."

Washington Post: "Bullock, rumpled and intense, recalls her performance in 'Crash' in a convincing serious turn."

OK, so the New York Times didn't jump onto the Sandy-loving bandwagon: "Embodying a paranoid but plucky Everywoman clutching at an elusive mate while trying to maintain her sanity, the best Ms. Bullock can manage is to seem glumly opaque."

Even if Premonition is a box-office disaster that calls for quick reparation in the form of another adorable romantic comedy in which Ms. Bullock dresses really frumpy until she has a miraculous makeover into a snarky, gun-toting secret agent, I have to admit I have a soft spot for Sandy. There's something about her no-nonsense, fun-loving demeanor that makes me want to, well, hang out with her! I feel like she'd make a great hiking buddy. And she probably wouldn't flake on plans to go to the movies or shopping — or shopping followed by movies. Is it because she's a Leo? We cats have to stick together.

In case you've forgotten how great she is, here's a retrospective of some of her roles:

The Lake House (2006) — In which she gets a really smashing haircut.

Miss Congeniality (2000) — Shortly after her miraculous makeover from "dowdy" to hottie.

Practical Magic (1998) — In which she gets witchy with Nicole Kidman.

The Net (1995) — Surfing on the beach (ignore the man in the background). I know this movie is one that most people love to ridicule, but sue me, I have a fondness for The Net. All that early internet age paranoia and really old laptops! Plus, she orders pizza online!

While You Were Sleeping (1995) — Can you get any cuter than this?

Demolition Man (1993) — Ignore Sly Stallone there, and check out Sandy in uniform.

    Oh, Sandy my darling.

I have a huge soft spot for Sandy.  Although I somewhat blame her and Matthew for overcrowding my beautiful Austin.  They couldn't just live here quietly and peacefully.  They had to tell the world how awesome it is to be here.  Shhh.  People quit talking about it.

Oops.  What I meant to say was Austin is horrible.  It is smelly, dirty, boring, lifeless, cruel, uncaring and lonesome.  Avoid it at all costs.

     Sandra Bullock was my

Sandra Bullock was my first female celebrity crush so I try to stay loyal and see every movie she makes. This didn't look that bad when I initially saw the trailer but this is not the first time I've bad reviews. If the critics hate the movie, why do they love her in it? Or do they just love her in general?

    I love Sandra Bullock

And I am excited about the movie. I hope it does very well.  I generally don't bother with the so called "expert" critics. I usually don't agree with them.  Including recentlythe critics praised "DreamGirls" and Jennifer Hudson, who were mediocre at best. And since they're not paying for my ticket, I'll go with my own taste in movies.

Am glad to see Sandra is at least getting the recognition from them....she deserves it!!

    On the bandwagon, too...

Groupie since 1995. :) Since Top 10 lists are popular around here, I'm sharing my personal list of memorable Sandy movies (10=ewww, 1=awww):

    10) Two if by Sea (1996)
Matisse? Bless you! I don't know, Sandy's hair color was... evil.

    9) Speed 2 (1997)
It was a good year for sinking ships. I'm the Queen of the World!

    8) Hope Floats (1998)/28 Days (2000)
Yawn! I cannot tell them apart, honestly.

    7) Forces of Nature (1999)
One of the good things: Sandy doesn't end up with the guy!

    6) The Net (1995)
The ESC button terrifies me till today! I saw this movie before I even know what the world wide web means or rather the world overall!

    5) Two Weeks Notice (2002)
This is fun, light-hearted and a typical girl-next-door role for Sandy!

    4) Demolition Man (1993)/Miss Congeniality (2000)
Yeah, she kicks ass! Though, muscle alert in DM: Sylvester Stallone vs. Wesley Snipes messing things up in the future. Obviously, some things will never change...

    MC: *Pimp* my Sandy!

    3) A time to kill (1996)
Only a supporting role and she brought out the best. My first Grisham adaption I've ever seen or wanted to see. Well, the one with Julia Roberts was nice, too. There you go, Sandra and Julia in one paragraph! I recall there had been this silly announcement a few years ago that Sandra is going to be the *new Julia Roberts*. The latter must've heard about this and made a furious comeback with one wedding movie per year! :)

    2) While you were sleeping (1995)
Speaking of weddings... This is my all-time favourite romantic comedy flick. Awww!

Oh, sh**, I forgot to visit the rails of love during my Chicago visit.

    1) Speed (1994)
It's ridiculous. I saw this movie more often than daylight! She's a pretty good driver, in my opinion. Though a lot of soup cans and other stuff were harmed on her way downtown! BTW, Keanu Reeves was and will always be my guilty pleasure, thanks to this.

    We've come a long way!

    SingleBeefy and fabulous!

    My ex

Oh for god's sake she reminds me of my ex. :-(

Maybe if I have a Bullockathon I will get rid of the association. :-)

    Sandra...

She has also been one of my favorites for years. She's such a girl next door, you could imagine that she'd be easy to get along with.

Loved her in Ms Congeniality. Rawr.

"That was a bad hair year for me"

She was brilliant in Lake House. In fact, so was Keanu. I do love them as a team, they're too adorable for their own good. And in Crash, she was fantastic. Wait. Everyone who was in Crash was fantastic. But still, she was in their ranks!!!!!

Thanks for giving me an excuse to look at her with her Lake House hair cut. That was a great hair cut.

    Sue me as well

LOL  I love the "Net".  I think it was the first movie I had seen Sandra in and is still one of my favorite's along with "Practical Magic" with Nicole Kidman and "A Time To Kill".

    i think she's super

    i think she's super adorable.

i am gonna watch this movie, eventually, because my 9 year old cousin makes his big screen debut as an extra, lol. (it's weird, they recently started filming a lot of movies around here...i donn't know if they're still doing Harold and Kumar 2--i have a friend who was going to be Hooker # 2 from Amsterdam's Red Light District, but the wrote out those scenes).

    Ahhh Sandra

She was my first girl crush. I was about 7 and my mother was obssessed with While you were sleeping. My obsession however, had more to do with Sandra than the sappy story line in the movie. GOD i wanted to be Bill Pullman.
