Madonna does "Vanity Fair"Madonna's on the cover of the May 2008 issue of Vanity Fair.
The article is available in its entirety online. I didn't read it, though. Maybe it's because I got to it at the end of a long day, but my brain simply resisted the first few sentences:
Huh? A bit precious for me. Here's a photo from the issue to clear your mind:
This article may be a beautifully written character study, but all I know is, when it comes to Madonna, I'm a purist. I want to see her perform. So here's the video for her latest single, "4 Minutes":
The album that this song is on, Hard Candy, arrives at the end of April. In the meantime, I thought I'd count down my current top five Madonna songs (they change). Here we go: 5. "Music" — Madonna the Mack Daddy 4. "Frozen" — Madonna the Mystic 3. "Human Nature" — Madonna the Dominatrix 2. "Papa Don't Preach" — Madonna the Pregnant 1. "Burning Up" — Madonna the Original So what do you think? Do you like "4 Minutes"? What are your favorite/least favorite Madonna songs? Submitted by on April 9, 2008 - 9:00am. |

Madonna Crazed #1 Fan!
The Icon
I heart eighties Madonna
I was a big fan when I was little, just like every other little girl at the time.
I still heart eighties Madonna, but I do not really care for the Madonna of the last decade.

-Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.
Who doesn't blog these days?
but...
they didn't save anyone or anything in that video...?
i like the video though, made me like the song better...however, what was up with the (early years) britney spears resemblance? the semi curls in the hair...super blonde...it was weird to see madonna seem very britney-like...maybe it amuses her to toy with justin's thoughts or something...
Music.
The first time I ever had slept with a girl was the day Madonna's Music video came out. The Music video was kind of an excuse that precipitated the whole event. I have SUCH fond memories of that whole album. Thanks for making me a lesbian Madonna!

Ice Cream
Wow....I'm struggling to answer as there are so many Madonna tracks that I love so much..... It's like asking someone to pick a favourite flavour of ice cream....if you thought about it long enough you could probably get it down to 2 or 3 kinds on a shortlist and finally choose your favourite, but you shouldn't have to because they are all great really!
But I gotta say Sloane, my list would pretty much match yours, except I would take away "Don't Tell Me" and add on "Live To Tell" and "What It Feels Like For a Girl."

Get "Into the Groove"...
Madonna and I are the same age; she is still going strong and so am I. I like all of her songs, but "Into the Groove" is my favorite, because that song came out the same time I did, so it holds a very special memory for me.

too much to name them all ;)
Is there anyone more awesome than Madonna?
There is not!
Ray of Light and Like a Prayer are my two favorite songs -- beyond that, everything just blurs into one overstuffed trunk full of terrific!
I know it's easy to laugh at her Kabbalah thing, and I do think that she's pursued it with the same vaguely scary obsessiveness with which she's always pursued everything she cares about, but my mild discomfort with that aside, I think what really makes me love Madonna has always been the way she combines the very visceral and sensual with the ecstatic and sacred in her music. I can't think of any other pop musician who has been as fascinated with and at home in the places where body and soul interact. When I was younger, I responded to a quality in her early love and sex songs, like Into the Groove, Live to Tell, Open Your Heart, and of course most of the Like a Prayer album, that felt trancendent to me. I fell away from her a little in college, less impressed by Erotica and Bedtime Stories (though the anger and pride in Human Nature suited the angry young feminist in me very well *g*), but ever since Ray of Light (possibly my favorite album of all time), I've been reconverted. She's a consummate songwriter and musician, absolutely, and I just find the way she's become even more forthright about her interior life in her music so inspiring -- I love pop music, and I wish more people were half as capable as Madonna at using the genre for real, personal artistic expression. She's remarkable in every way.
What A Woman!
I really can't believe shes fifty this year. Madonna was my idol and my first celebrity crush when I was just a wee nipper!
Here's a few of my fav Madge songs in no particlular order, otherwise I would be here all night!
1. Into the Groove
2. Lucky Star
3. Like a Prayer
4. Express yourself (Wow she was hot in that video!)
5. Cherish
6. Rain
7. Erotica
8. Take a bow
9. Human Nature
10. Deeper and deeper
11. What it feels like for a girl
12. Jump
13. Vogue.
Ok I'm going to stop now because I swear I will get carried away! Long may her Madgesty reign as the Queen of Pop woop woop!
Dark Madonna and creepy asian people
If anyone remembers the music video to " Nothing Really Matters" it had a very Asian theme. Being that i am Asian and when this video came out i was in highschool... I was so terribly excited to see Asian people on my tv... even if they were strange and creepy. At least I saw them... and even to this day that has to be the most Asians i have seen in a music video in America.
That being said- my top two Madonna songs
Nothing Really Matters
Frozen
So... I like dark Madonna... with creepy asian people in the background.
Top Five
1.) Ray of Light
2.) Hanky Panky (The Dick Tracy soundtrack is very under-rated IMHO)
3.) True Blue / Lucky Star (tied for third)
4.) Secret
5.) Her cover of "Fever"
6.) Like A Prayer (honrable mention)
Like a Prayer is probably my
not the best singer, not the best dancer, not the beauty, but...
she is definitely Nr. 1. And because of that I have respect for her.
I listened to one of her first live performances and she sounded just god-awful. And listened to her new concert and she sounds bearable.
But I really admire her ability to reinvent herself every few years and to stay on top in industry which adores only youth and beauty. So I'd say the lady is pretty smart. And you have to give credit to that no matter what you think about her music ... and her British accent.
my top
1- vogue
2- ray of light
3- music
4- frozen
5- what it feels like for a girl
HUMAN NATURE!
The beat is insaaane, love it.. That would be considered my fave. I'm glad you considered it one of the top songs.
4 minutes, on the other hand.. is a good song but I have a feeling it would be forgettable and easily bored from after a few listens.
Human Nature
Love Her!
All in all I thought that article was good. The one in Elle is great, too. I love the photos from both. I blew all of the money I had for lunch on both magazines, and I don't regret it, dammit! I want me some Momo!!
I think she's still one of the sexiest women in the world. Top of my list right now. I don't care if she's turning 50.
It's really hard for me to pick favourites when it comes to her songs. I love almost all of them for lots of different reasons...the one that I'm REALLY loving right now is "Drowned World/Substitute For Love." Simply breathtaking. I didn't like it when I was little, but now I adore it.
I am my own experiment. I am my own work of art. - Madonna
