You Can't Take Them Anywhere! Switzerland (Part Two: Lucerne and Mt. Pilatus)

In part two of trip to Switzerland, Bridget and I visit historic Lucerne, go in search of fondue and get a private tour of the amazing Museum Rosengart.

The lovely Ms. Angela Rosengart, whose family has been collecting art for generations, gave us a fascinating tour of the Museum, with a special focus on the work of Picasso. The Rosengart has one of the largest collections of Picasso's work in the world, and has an equally impressive collection of Paul Klee's work. Other artists represented there include Cézanne, Chagall, Kandinsky, Matisse, Miró, Modigliani, Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, and Seurat. The museum itself is gorgeous and is a must-see when you go to Lucerne.

While vising Lucerne, we also spent a day on Mt. Pilatus and got the royal treatment from our hilarious host, Colette Richter. Mt. Pilatus is simply awe-inspiring, the 7,000 foot high mountain is home to two aerial cableways, two hotels, seven restaurants, the world's steepest cogwheel railway and central Switzerland's biggest suspension rope park.

Most importantly (to me), you can ride a toboggan on a mile long track at breakneck speed or a more sensible leisurely place — the choice is your own! We aimed for a speed somewhere in the middle when we had our turn, and we shot the footage to prove it.

When we weren't playing alpenhorns on the mountain, feeding the swans or trolling the streets of Lucerne in search of fondue, we were relaxing at the Hotel Seeburg, with a gorgeous ocean lake view.

You Can't Take Them Anywhere! Lucerne and Mt. Pilatus, Switzerland

Thanks to Reto Kleeb and Switzerland Tourism for planning and hosting our trip to Switzerland, Lucerne Tourism for rolling out the red carpet for us in Lucerne, and to Swiss International Airlines for getting us there in style!

Great Cinematography in Part II of YCTTA

www.myspace.com/lunakiss7.com

I must say you two have become quite experts in cinematography. The sceneary of Lucerne  and Mt. Pilatus are very beautiful. Karman, you're room is off the chain. I like how the Swizz utilizes their space, lighting and time(except for the lengthy ringing of the bells-LOL.). Great part II. I'm so stoked. I can't wait to see part III.

glasses!!!

ok, karman in glasses... so freaking cute. and also leather!!! i don't know which one i'm most excited about, but combining the two together is just too much :P

karman's outfit + glasses at the museum made her look more like one of those  artsy people, she really could pass for an art student or an art dealer... haha.

great second part, looking forward to the next one :)

Karman I liked the glasses and black top look! that room was really nice! was this made before or after you guys announced you were married I wonder? just wonder if it'l affect the way you act in future YCCTA's?! :D

toboggon looked FUNNN, i went on a super short one of those in a kids playground, and that was fun (which also had the most painful waterslide ever as well, it was concrete!)

anyhoos, you guys are amusing, i LOVED when the bells were ringing and how Thunderbolt was magically on Bridget's head, so glad you kept it in, and 10 mins, thats insane! why'd they have it that long? is it every day?!

The whole time i was trying to figure out what the heck a toboggon is... I still have no idea if there's a different german word for it, but i love those things. So go Karman!!
Did Karman and Bridget really have seperate rooms? If so Karman had an awful lot of luggage ....
So cute to hear them speak german and the bells were just ridiculous
Cant wait for part 3

The Bells

Girls, Girls, Girls  I was laughing so hard at you two trying to be professional when those damn bells would not stop and then for the camera to come back to bridget with the pony on her head was too much.  I snorted I laughed so hard.

Karman you really did look like an art student and like you knew what you were talking about.

Bridget you are so cute in braids.  I want to go with you all and I want to go NOW!

ahh and Art Student! i could only half work out what exactly Karman reminded me of in that attire. the bell bit was hilarious!

Great

I really enjoyed this one, particularly the art guide, she was definitely inspirational! I liked the variety of things this YCTTA has shown, from the gay zoo to the endless bell-tolling and Mt.Pilatus. It was only after this that I remembered I went to Lucerne and Mt.Pilatus when I was 10 lol! I was watching it thinking deja vu the whole time then remembered...:P

By the way the instrumental music you use in YCTTA is awesome. Is there any way of getting a copy of it? Is it on iTunes?

This vlog is getting really exciting: Adrenaline (The toboggan clip),Sheer bliss (Mt.Pilatus), Deliciousness (Fondue), Randomness (tolling bell), .....

Way to go!!

Drinking game and chocolate

This Vlog would make for a great drinking game...you guys must've said fondue and toboggan at least a dozen times.

An entire episode of YCTTA without any chocolate eating. How's that possible?

fondue

So how was that fondue? Actually i totally agree with Bridget on that one, the chocolate fondue definitely tops the cheese one to me too.

The private tour of the Rosengart must have been a treat, the museum looks fantastic. I was tired just watching you guys hike on the pilatus, i hope the sight was worth it ;-)

The toboggan seemed like fun, though i got to say i'm not to impressed by the speed on the film, but i'm sure you played it safe no to break the camera ;-)

Looking forward for part 3!!

Everything with passion, nothing with talent...

Fondue!

Karman and Bridget, you two would probably love The Melting Pot, they have both cheese and chocolate fondue.  Check them out on-line.

Mt. Pilatus is so gorgeous, but I would never be able to walk around at those heights.   Scary!  Were either of you afraid of the heights?

eme's picture

wow

that lady knew Picasso

tobogganing is a lot little like bobsledding. although its really fun on a friend packed sled running down a big snowy hill screaming all the way.

although if you're from Maine.....

dutti2901's picture

the accent, the accent... :D

i just watched a couple of minutes but i'm already laying on the floor crying because i cannot stop laughing! ms. rosengart's german accent and karman's face trying to understand what she's actually trying to say were just to much for me... i am german and ms. rosengart's english sounded like my dad's, which is not a compliment at all! :P

oh, btw karman looks so cute and adorkable with her glasses! she could definitly pass as an art student... :D

Loved this vlog

As usual, this was a great vlog- I loved the bit with Mrs Rosengart, she sounds like the coolest woman ever, how cool would it be to be her granddaughter? She'd have the best stories to tell!

The toboggan stuff at the end was pretty awesome, you're a brave woman Karman Kregloe!

Ps. You had seperate rooms? I don't get it :S

no chocolate sampling?

no chocolate sampling? you're breaking your pattern here :P

ooh i love that there will be a part 3

This was such a fun trip it seems you had and I can't wait to see another installment. Wow, 10 min. bells....that was funny, but odd that 5 o'clock was so important(?) I would think 6 maybe....or noon (not sure why), but 5?

Just speculating, but I think the 'sep. rooms' has to do w/ the 2 of them kinda being on the down low back when this was shot.

Janay's picture

lol

Karman's rocking the Matt Sharp's(kinda)!!!:-P.....and no one on this thread is going to know what I'm talking about lol....o well...I couldn't resist!

Especially with that guy flying over the mountain. mmmmmmmmmm.

where is brunch with bridget

this is really cute and all but i miss my brunch.....come back please bridget...need your laughter....

Wow

Switzerland is an absolutely beautiful country.  I loved the views and towns in Part II.  While the museum was cool to see, it was the view from the top of the mountain that was the highlight for me.

I think my favourite dialogue in this episode was Bridget - "come toast and jam with us......what, too soon?".  I'm under the impression Karman may not be a morning person.  ; )

Looking forward to Part III.

The bells

Just too funny! Loved the search for cheesy fondue.  Gotta love the bathtub in the main room. How cool is that?  Greatly appreciated the trip to the Rosengart Museum. Thanks for sharing that with us.  But I really loved the trip up Mt. Pilatus. WOW!  Thanks for posting the English language link for more info (the dragon story is especially interesting). And a big YAY for the "death defying" tobaggan footage.  Can't wait for part 3. Does Thunderbolt have a passport?

Beautiful scenery, friendly people, fabulous art, yummy food, interesting stories and two lovable AE vloggers.

Alpine Babes

Enjoyed your views of Lucerne.  Brought back wonderful memories of my time in Switzerland.  I'm sorry to hear that the bridge had burned.  I know the original one had a story  in art work on all the cross timbers along the bridge.  Did the rebuilt one have it too?

Fondue is ok but did you ladies get any raclette?  Now that is the real Swiss dish!

Come to my backyard Karman, you can feed the swan pair that breeds in the pond and their babies!

through your eyes

Didn't know you're making switzerland-tour.. just thought a short stay in Zürich. But it's absolutely great seeing "my" country through "your" eyes! :-)

By the way a LOT of luggage Karman ;-)

Karman: I think someone's going to come scrub my back for me but I'm not sure.

Bridget: Ah, we'll see who's gonna do that for you.

Can't wait for part three!

YCTTA! en Suisse waouhhhhhhh

When I was younger, I went to holidays to Lucerne with my parents and my brother. It was gorgeous, I keep in mind of it a very good memories.

I remember the beautiful bridge, the fondue was delicious and I also made the sled, it was so cool and fun.

So funny, the scene of bells lol

Switzerland is really an extraordinary country.

I look forward to seeing the part three.

Thank you so much Bridget and Karman. Merci, merci et merci.

Just wondering when we get part three?....
Liz Teska's picture

ok, I realize that I'm very late to the party

But if anyone who is reading this knows how they scored this personal showing with Angela Rosengart I would LOVE  to hear the story. Did it just fall into their laps? That is hard to believe. Daughter of Bilitis perhaps?
