We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" 5.7Dawn Denbo's trademark phrase "It's on!" took on a whole new meaning this week, as it signaled the arrival of the Greatest Sport of All Time on The L Word. Yes, that's right. We're talking about Turkish oil wrestling. We don't pretend to know much about the sport, its origins (Turkey?), or its cultural significance. We just know that it involves scantily clad women thrashing about, sometimes even making out, in a vat of baby oil.
Episode 5.7 was wondrous indeed, as it also featured more TiBette fireworks, Jenny/Niki sex scenes, Alice on national television (inevitable, right?) and Kelly McGillis playing a homophobic version of her Charlie character from Top Gun (if Charlie had gone to law school and joined up). But the main event truly was the oil wrestling scene at SheBar. Dawn Denbo, her beautiful lover Cindi, Jenny, Niki, Shane — hell, even Molly — joined the fracas and before the night was over, two hotties were being hauled away to the pokey. Not even Dusty can help them now. Of course we reenacted the oil wrestling match, but we kept our clothes on. One has to leave a little something to the imagination, right? Did anyone else just absolutely hates Nikki?! I have since the beginning... just can't stand her. And Kelly McGillis, I recognised her emediately, but she doesn't look all that diffirent from The Monkey's Mask since that was only a couple of years ago. But I can't say she looks better, but of course it's logical she's getting older. And I was totally mad at Alice doing what they asked. Who wants a job with those kind of rules you have to stick to. I would have walked away from the job:O So a lot of anger, but it was an absolutely entertaining episode!<3 And the word 'lifestyle'... don't even get me started on that! Haha!
And just to let you know, Jill is on wikipedia and this vlog is mentioned;)

I used to think the same -
I used to think the same - I used to not like her at all because she seemed like a dimwit. But then I realized that she's still underage! So she's what - 19 or 20? No wonder she acts more immature than the other characters--- she IS! lol just had to mention that.
Now that i know that she's actually quite young.. i like her :))) i really want her and jenny to work out!! it's like nikki will finally be able to slow jenny down a lil.

I have to say that I didn't really like the episode, don't know why. they are turning alice into someone she's not been the past four seasons, so thats really mean, plus, I think it's kinda true what she says to tina about being the joke. and I just don't really care enough about jenny to be interested in this whole jenny/niki thing. I'm generally more into feminine girls, but those two kinda don't do anything for me. and I think they hyped the turkish oil wrestling way too much, I didn't think it was that great either. I loved the potparty way more... but thats just my opinion...

Turkish oil wrestling (allaboutturkey.com)
This is one of the most popular sports in Turkey. Yagli gures means literally oiled wrestling. The wrestlers wear tight short leather trousers called "Kispet", made of water buffalo leather weighing approximately 13 kilograms, and they cover themselves with olive oil. Matches take place throughout the country but the most famous and most important tournament takes place in Edirne by the end of June and beginning of July. In 2008, the 647th edition will be held between July 4th - 6th.
It's a big fair as well with music and celebrations and it goes on until the morning. Usually lamb roast is a very popular food. In the entertainments, belly dancing is accompanied by Turkish traditional musical instruments 'davul' (drum) and 'zurna' (a type of flute) and singings.

It was nice that it was just the three of you this week. I've liked the guests but I love when it's just the terrible three.
Although it's so not cool that the cast from l-word can't come on the vlog. I don't get it, I know they have ourchart but wouldn't it still be good promotion for the show? And I doubt that it would mean them losing readers, what happened to cooperation within the community?
Anyways, I loved the vlog as usual. And Jill, I'm sorry you're not feeling well but you still did a great job. And looked adorable even if you probably felt really bad.

I thought Wikipedia was a page where anonymous people can contribute info. How did you Jill find out it was a woman? You can't even see the posters nicknames who alter the pages. I have a page up there for my organisation and I get sometimes edited by unknown people which can be very annoying. I can't do much about it because I can't trace the posters, it's impossible to do that on Wikipedia.

Of course you can see the posters' nicknames in the page history. If they are anonymous posters, you see the IP address where they made the post from.
If someone's vandalising a page, you just revert it. There's a whole process on disputes resolution as well, for known users.

Their nicknames isn't doing me much good because I can never find out their real name, who they are. Wikipedia is a mess. I contacted the admin and he reverts it back but it keeps happening.
That's why I was surprised to hear that Jill knows it was a female poster because it's impossible to find out their identity on Wikipedia. How did you find that out Jill?
