We're Getting Nowhere: "The L Word" Season 1, "L'Ennui"In this episode of The L Word, the gang goes on a three-hour tour. OK, not really — they go to a yacht party and overdo in every possible way. Maybe a three-hour tour, complete with shipwreck, would have been a little more manageable than an out-of-control yacht party. Especially if Mary Ann was there serving up some coconut cream pies in her short shorts. But I digress... Before said yacht party, wifeys Tina and Bette are subjected to an intervention informing them of how lame and boring they've become in their heightened state of domesticity.
Hmm...I think we said the same thing last week about "Lisa," so maybe we need to get a bit more creative. Nevertheless, watch us hurl similar

but i still totally agree that all the attention was based on the male genders (and some of us ladies) need to look at a pretty girl.

I don't think I have a favorite French word, I just like pronouncing them in general. But grenouille (frog) is fun and for some reason I like poche (pocket).

That last bit was great, fortunately I've only had that kind of how are you answer one or two times. I liked the Lolita Davidovich song .. or at least as much of a song you could make out of her name. You ladies are hilarious, can't wait for the next episode.

That was great! The reenactments were on point this week!
It wasn't Sharapova. It was Kournikova. She wasn't very good and lost most of the time in the early rounds. Yet, had a flourishing careering outside of the tennis world. All looks based!

I love tennis. And while I'm not a fan of Kournikova, she did win and get to the finals of a couple of double's tournaments, she never won a single's ever though. But to give her at least a little credit, she was a great juniors player.

you never know what you're gonna get..but dammit, you're gonna enjoy it. These were the funniest re-enactments yet! Although, I was really hoping to see re-enactments of the Alice-Lisa scene and Dana's drunken dancing..but I really can't complain. Great episode!
Side note: Like Karman, there are a lot of men with crushes on me and although some can be creeps about it, the general majority are respectful once aware of my sexuality. I really don't understand when people get angry that someone they're clearly not interested in admits to having a crush on them. Yes, they may be barking up the wrong tree, but even so you should be flattered that someone found you attractive.
..that's all I have to say about that.

Les guignols! I can't believe Karman knows that! The pronunciation of Karman's mother is SO funny, i'm gonna say that from now on "the gignowl". I wish you had said all the stuff about French people, i'd be the first French to agree on that ;) Sometimes the biggest clichés are the most accurate, it applies to any nationalities!
This episode was so far from l'ennui! It was actually my favorite since the recap of Season 1. Oh and the Lolita song you made up, hilarious.
The re-enactement were completely hysterical, the blipping screen made me laugh out loud. Genius idea :) And the last one, was even more funny than gross. That's how funny it was :)

About tennis, if we talk about good looking + good at her game... I think I choose Ana Ivanovic over Maria Sharapova. (I always was for Justine Henin (liked how mentally strong she could be + her playing style; one handed backhands), now that she doesn't play anymore, I'm for Ivanovic, doesn't hurt she's good looking,lol).

Why did Dara buy a slingshot?

Dara may not say as much, but when she does speak, it's priceless. I think that line would have made up for whatever Jill stopped herself from saying about the French. I understand why she's a bit reticent now, but wish she didn't have to be.

Karman's Marina voice is never getting old. I wish Marina would stay longer so Karman could keep imitating her.
I'd love to hear Karman's complete argument for not liking Forrest Gump. Personally, it's one of my favorite movies and Jenny is one of my all-time favorite characters and Robin Wright was brilliant in that part.
I love that Jill knows the movie so well that she caught Karman's unintentional Forrest quote. Jill does something Forrest-like, too. Has anyone else noticed how often she repeats whatever's just been said? That's not a criticism. It proves she's a good listener. Yeah, that's it. Plus it's kind of cute.
Karman: You know who I like? Serena Williams.
Jill: Oh, she's hot! And she's got an ass for days!
Karman: Really? I hadn't noticed. I was thinking about her athletic prowess.
Jill: Oh yeah, that too. I'm sorry, but I love her ass.
This is Jill at her best - I love it when she speaks freely.
I usually prefer the real-people re-enactments, but the intervention sock puppets re-enactment was hilarious. Still, the exaggerated take on the Dana-Lara restaurant scene was even funnier.
How could you leave out Alice forcing Lisa to be a man, and his reaction? It was a dumb storyline, but that scene almost makes it worth it.

Fantastic recap as usual, much more entertaining than the Ennui episode. The last reenactment was hilarious and dead on.

Forrest Gump is overrated
Forrest Gump is overrated and psuedointellectual. Its on par with Good Will Hunting.
I kow I just offended 99 per cent of the country. I ain't scurrred.
Great characters and relationships
I like both movies and I'm not the least bit offended. We just have different taste, although movies like Forrest Gump aren't my usual taste.
I think I see Forrest Gump from a different perspective than you ("pseudointellectual") and Karman ("revisionist"). As much as I love history, I loved the characters (Jenny, Lt. Dan, and Mrs. Gump) in Forrest Gump more than the actual story. It's just entertainment.
