Sheryl Crow is back on the bus, y’all

Rocker Sheryl Crow is embarking on a (biodiesel-powered) bus tour of college campuses to “to urge college students to become part of the movement to stop global warming and demand solutions from themselves, their schools and their country.” Crow will perform songs and speak about climate change, and will be joined on the tour by global warming activist Laurie David. The tour kicked off yesterday at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and will conclude on Earth Day, April 22, at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. (President Bush’s home state of Texas was chosen as the starting place for the tour because it leads all U.S. states in fossil fuel emissions.)

The remaining tour dates are as follows:

Tuesday 4/10: Texas A&M, College Station, Texas, Rudder Arena

Wednesday 4/11 : Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, LSU Union Theater

Thursday 4/12: Loyola University, New Orleans, LA, Republic New Orleans

Friday 4/13: University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL, Bartow Arena

Monday 4/16: University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, Stephen O’Connell Center

Tuesday 4/17: Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN, Murphy Center

Wednesday 4/18: Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, Life Center Ballroom

Thursday 4/19: University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, Charlottesville Pavilion,

Saturday 4/21: University of Maryland, College Park, MD, Cole Field House,

Sunday 4/22: George Washington University, Washington, DC, The Smith Center

According to the official website for the tour (www.stopglobalwarming.org), the 90-minute presentations will “include remarks by David, a short performance by Crow, clips from An Inconvenient Truth, humorous clips from top comedians, and a dialogue with students.”

To read Crow’s blog about the tour, check out her official website. Here’s a sample of what you’ll find:

“First, let me say, you don’t really get to know someone until you have lived together on a tour bus (biodiesel, of course!).  Things I know about Laurie David now:  She drinks Domaines Ott, a French rosé. She does not like raw tomatoes…not the smell, the texture, the taste, nothing…however, she will eat salsa. As smart as she is, she is equally funny.  We’ve only known each other now since November and already we are sleeping together…across the aisle, that is.”

But wait, there’s more. On April 23, the stopglobalwarming.org website reports, Crow and David will “deliver the clear, resounding message of millions of Americans – from those they meet on the road and those who have joined the virtual march – directly to the halls of Congress: Americans want immediate federal action to stop global warming.”

Too bad Crow and David are just visiting Congress….
