Katee Sackhoff jumps to "24"Battlestar Galactica fans will be pleased to learn that Katee Sackhoff (aka "Starbuck") has just signed on for the new season for the Fox drama 24.
Katee Sackhoff According to Fox, Sackhoff will play Dana Walsh, an expert data analyst "with a secret" at CTU who is involved with agent Davis Cole (Freddie Prinze Jr.). Starbuck trapped behind a computer with no booze or cigars? Tragic. No word yet on whether plot twists will require her techie character to also brandish weapons, ride motorcycles, or beat bad guys into submission, but we can always hope. Also joining the cast this season will be Jennifer Westfeldt as an ambitious journalist, Mykelti Williamson, Anil Kapoor and Chris Diamantopoulos. The returning cast includes Annie Wersching, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kiefer Sutherland and Cherry Jones as the U.S. President. This will mark Sackhoff's second role on a television show that features a female president (the first being Mary McDonnell as Battlestar Galactica's President Laura Roslin). Somehow that just makes sense, doesn't it? The next season will be kicked off with a two-night four-hour premiere on January 17, 2010 on FOX, with most of the story taking place in New York City. In addition to her confirmed role on 24, it was recently rumored that Sackhoff is angling for the role of comic book supervillain "Typhoid Mary" (from Marvel's Daredevil series).
Marvel's Typhoid Mary MTV's Splash Page reports that Sackhoff was spotted at the Los Angeles-based store Golden Apple Comics, where she bought a "significant amount" of comics featuring that character and told the clerk that she was hoping to land a role in a Marvel movie. Splash Page notes, however, that the character of Typhoid Mary could appear in one of several different movies; a rumored Elektra "reboot," Ryan Reynolds's new "Deadpool" feature, or the upcoming "Avengers" film. (As a fan of Reynolds, I'm hoping it's "Deadpool".) If Sackhoff's scene-stealing turn as the evil cyborg on NBC's short-lived Bionic Woman is any indication of how she would play Typhoid Mary, then I'm in! Do you think Sackhoff is right for either 24 or "Typhoid Mary?" Submitted by on June 15, 2009 - 6:40pm. |

I prefer to see her in a Bionic spin off...
Colour me happy...
...ITA with you TheWeyrd1 Katee does really do the tomboy thing the best! She has such a delicous edge to her...somehow she manages to do rough and gruff and still conveys a fractured soul underneath.
I'm just pleased that she's found a new home - and such a prominant show too hopefully she gets a chance to teach Elisha Cuthbert a thing or two about being the AlphaBlonde...
SMB
*sigh* Starbuck....
Oh, how I love you. Sign me up for anything Katee Sackhoff. Whilst I'm not a huge fan of that red lipstick, I AM a huge fan of the woman. Typhoid Mary? Bring it on, especially if she can wear that outfit.
<<oh, i want you whole and complete after dark, after dark>>
Katee is a superb actress
I saw Katee a year ago at a Chicago BSG Convention and realised just what an amazing actress she is because she is NOTHING like her character, Starbuck. In person, Katee is EXTREMELY girlie, and petite and does not project a tough girl persona, but rather the girl next door who just loves to act. Watching her for 45 minutes, it was hard to believe that was the same women who played the butchy, tough-girl Starbuck.
I look forward to seeing Katee in any new project she's in but hope she very soon picks up a lead role, rather than a secondary character role.
Well...
... I've never been a fan of 24 so... too bad!! I wish they would have given her a main role in a new TV show, she was supposedly working on a thing called "Lost and Found" but it wasn't picked by the channel in the end...
Let's hope we will see her in movies as well, it will compensate for the fact that I won't be watching 24 anytime soon :D
Good for her
I'm glad Katee's got the part on 24, I've always enjoyed that show (in spite of its tendency to torture anything that moves), but it's really hard for us BSG fans to get used to a girlie look on this woman after Starbuck's grit 'n guts! To me, she looks like she's in drag wearing that lipstick.
Great to hear Cherry Jones will be back next season, too.
Whee! More Katee!
Would love to see her as another supervillian, especially after seeing her chew the scenery that made the only thing in the gawd awful Bionic Woman worth watching. Would love to watch her in 24 but am still boycotting FOX after the cancellation of SCC - I'll just pick up the DVDs later! (Lena Headey's still higher than Katee on my hot women of TV list!)
Happykt, I've seen Katee at a con too, and she is beyond cute! She had no problem with me blurting out that I had a crush on her - she said she gets bought free drinks by girls every time she goes out in West Hollywood - lol!
I love the Golden Apple! Many a happy memory made there waiting six hours in line for SCC signings - so cool to read that Katee was there!
Katee vs. Ryan?
I would love to see her matching wisecracks and ass-kicks with Ryan's "Deadpool" character. Two scene-stealers for the price of one! Katee would rule as a leather-clad rock'n'rolla villain. Not sure if this is the direction they would take the Typhoid Mary character though. Natassia Malthe played her as an Asian-influenced temptress in Elektra - how on Earth was she able to kiss Jennifer Garner's hugely plumped-up lips is a mystery - a sequel of which would be a waste imo. (Of course, the Affleck-Garner pairing could potentially open the door to a DD/E flick. Marvel would let Jon Favreau direct it, cuz he is golden after Iron Man. Or there's always fanboy director Kevin Smith.) Anyway, don't hold your breath for a stand-alone TM movie.
24? I have not watched it since mid-season 2. Might be pulled back in by the new additions.
