Brunch with Melange Lavonne (Brunch with Bridget, Episode 48)

This week Bridget welcomes an out lesbian hip hop sensation, the singer and actor Melange Lavonne.

Melange talks about her life as a performer, her battle with cancer, and dating a cheerleader in high school. She also gives a live performance of her song, "I've Got You."

While her pillow-fighting skills leave a little to be desired, you've gotta love a woman who shows up with her own stuffed animal!

    Melange Lavonne laugh is too CUTE! I am not familiar with her, I do remember noticing a music video listed on here on AE. I have checked out her myspace page. Thanks.

    Awesome!! I came across Melange sometime ago when I randomly saw her in Sarah Warn's friendlist on myspace or song added or something to do with Sarah's myspace account anyways. Don't usually like this type of music but I really liked the "I got you" song - v. touching, I listen to it a fair bit

    Looking forward to watching the vlog!!

    edit: maybe its just mebut the times the first two comments were posted don't seem to make sense, the time of the first post is after the second!

    by melange, she's a survivor and she's making the best out of it, that is always very inspiring.

    Great vlog, and finally someone on the show that i could actually beat at pillow fighting! LOL

    Once again Bridget you outdone yourself. This episode was inspiring. I already knew who Melange was from a cd compliation of LGBTQI Hip-Hop artists. I love the "Gay Bash" video and her current one.I hope she keeps it up-positivity, inpsirational lyrics and music and I want her to  stay on her path with her faith. She has a beautiful spirit and smile. I love that smile and her hair.

    I was diagnosed with Hodgkins in Aug 2007 and was very lucky to only need 6 months of chemo. I found that hard enough, Melange is an inspiration :-)

    Great show ladies. A nice start to my Sunday morning, it left me with a nice, warm, settled feeling. Melange, you're such an inspiration and your lyrics are incredible. But that pillow fight? Horrible. I mean I'm sure making out with Baby Bridget can take a lot of you but you didn't even try and knock Bridget off.

    Nice little cheer Bridge. Can't wait for next week.

    LOVED this episode.

    I first heard of Melange a little while ago when AE had her "I got you" vid up. I liked how sweet the song and video were. And I thought Melange was cute, teehee.

    I LOVE Melange's laugh and her smile and her sweet energy. She seems like such a gentle but strong heart. Her gf is a lucky one.

    Also loved the song and video included at the end.

    This is very superficial of me, but she was looking really good in those suspenders :).

    Awesome episode!! I'm also a Christian and have struggled with my faith a ton since I came out. It's such an inspiration to see someone who is so comfortable with her faith despite being gay. This really made my day, especially since it's a sunday!

    what a powerful messege.. im a christian gay person.. i have noticed that this days in churches "gay is a sin" is making a come back with force.. we just need to stick together and we'll overcaome those anti- us preachers.. God does not want us to hate..

    Melange reminds me of MC Lyte who is a pioneer in female hip hop her flow is awesome and she has a great personality. I hope she makes it to Dinah I voted for her video it's so awesome when they show the families at the end b/c we are out there!!!

    loved melange shes is so amazing. her songs are always about very important issues which is rare for a lot of rappers

    and i have to agree with melange ketchup on pizza is pretty good especially shakeys pizza but i dont even think shakeys are around anymore lol
