In the first episode of AfterEllen.com's new bi-weekly video blog All Access Pass, host Andrea Meyerson (Women on a Roll, All Out Films) visits with jazz singer, songwriter and actress, Sweet Baby J'ai at her home. Sweet Baby J'ai shares stories about being an out lesbian on the jazz circuit, starring in the stage production of "Prove It On Me" and also talks about the influence and importance of queer women in jazz in the '20s, like Ma Rainey, Gladys Bentley, and Bessie Smith. She also gives us a sneak preview of her one of the tracks on her soon-to-be released CD, Introducing J'ai Michel.

Andrea has her own vlog
thats great. You have a great charisma - I enjoyed watching you on the previous videos.
this vlog was interesting, Sweet Baby J'ai seems very kind. I've already checked her music on itunes, sounds really good.
I'm looking forward to your next vlog
Andrea's Phenomenal!!!
All that jazz
By some weird coincidence I got in from a Jazz Club (Lea Delaria's regular 'wall to wall spot) and saw this vlog. I've been a fan of sweet baby j'ai's for awhile, so it was a thrill to discover her on AE.
I look forward to Andrea's vlogs
Very cool, love the new
history and voice
I loved hearing how the history of America and its music are so interwoven. But, not as much as I loved hearing J'ai's divine voice. Thank you Andrea and Sweet Baby J'ai. Y'all made my day. :)
The YouTube vid they were talking about: Bessie, Billie, and Ruth
Great vlog! I love Andrea!
I remember seeing Baby J'ai
at one of Andrea's concerts at the outdoor Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. It was October and the show was running long, very, very long. Although some women left as it began to cool down, most of us who know the best is always saved for last held on til the end. Around 11:00 pm Baby J'ai came out on stage and she did not disappoint. She is so much fun to watch - imagine her shiny personality on this video times 100, and that's what you get on stage! I hope to see her again some day. Only this time, in an indoor venue so I can enjoy her all the more.

Haaay, Sweet, Sweet, Sweet
Andrea, I love the new vlog! You couldn't have chosen a better performer to introduce your vlog to the AfterEllen crowd. I've seen Sweet Baby J'ai in person. She is a stunning performer and gorgeous woman...the video doesn't do her justice, but nonetheless, it was great watching you and her shine. And I learned alot too. By the way, I am one of the women in the audience that caught a pair of her black drawers! Looking forward to your Cambria weekend.
I would love to see her
