Gaming is for Girls: Gaming news from the Leipzig Gaming ConventionWith the Leipzig Games Convention on, it's a big week in gaming. We've got all the major stories coming out so far, all tied up in a shiny gaming bow. Wonder Woman to appear in "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe" Finally, the announcement some of us have longed for and expected: Wonder Woman will indeed appear in the upcoming "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe" fighting game. Midway made the announcement this week. Wireless keypad for PS3 unveiled Never being one to not "borrow" great ideas from other consoles, Sony announced a wireless keypad for the PS3 Sixaxis and Dual Shock controllers. The keypad (seen below) will make messaging friends easier, and according to Sony, "could be used for game development in future."
New "Singstar" titles ahead, including Disney tracks If you like Disney songs, you're going to love this! Sony announced "Disney Singstar" for the PS2. The game will include hits from The Little Mermaid (oh please let it be "Under the Sea"), The Lion King ("Hakunamatata"? What a wonderful phrase!), Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast ("Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour!"). Disney aside (and now that those songs are stuck in my head), Sony also announced "Singstar Volume 3" for PS3 and "Singstar Queen" for PS2 — no, not "It's Raining Men" — more Radio Gaga. You'll also be able to play your PS2 "Singstar" songs on the PS3 thanks to an upcoming firmware update (though if you have a backwards compatible PS3, this really doesn't matter). "Overlord" coming to Nintendo DS A pocket full of minions, now that sounds like fun. "Overlord: Minions" was on show at the convention and it looks sweet. Stylus-based game play will see you ordering minions around to solve puzzles. For "Overlord" fans on the meatier consoles, "Overlord 2" is also in the works for PS3, X360 and PC, all due out some time next year.
That's it in a nutshell, fellow gamers. There's certainly more coming out of Leizig, but those were the big hitters. On the LesbianGamers front this week, we've seen Princess Zelda and Samus Aran in a new "lesbian tryst," "LEGO Batgirl" was revealed and there's some "Animal Crossing"/"Battlestar Galactica" happenings as well. LesbianGeek tells you MI5 are looking for gay agents, and there may be another X-Files movie, despite the last one bombing at the box office. Happy gaming! Submitted by on August 22, 2008 - 1:00pm. |

Leipzig
That keypad for the PS3 is really sweet. Not so sure how interested I am in the other games, but may give them a shot.
I wish you guys would cover online/PC games some. :(
Another big story to come out of Leipzig is that the upcoming MMORPG, Warhammer Online, won the Best Online Game of the Year award.
Full cinematic trailer also was just released. :D

Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.
Sexy elf women!
I am so there!
Heavy Rain
Do you guys know anything about the Heavy Rain game? I only saw the Leipzig video and it looked really great. I'm not so much into the horror/action genre but they say it's going to be a improved Fahrenheit which would be pretty cool. And the main(?) protagonist is a woman?! Who is fully clothed! Yep, she actually wears a jacket in all the heavy rain. So, the developers seem to have a thing for original ideas..
Other than that.. I'm glad that the gameplay for Mirror's Edge seems to hold up well (even for pc). That should be a great game and again with the female character. Is it the 21st century already? :D
So great to have gamer news
Harpy
That was some trailer! (wait till about 3/4 the way through ladies)
(how come a moderator is saying "Shit"...I know its just a typo!, thought you'd like to know)
My favorite platorm is the PC too. Tracy and Angelia might have to adopt someone or have a guestgamerbian to give us some PC perspective. Maybe they have a friend who is more of a PC fan girl, I think its a pretty big subject to cover if your heart itsn't in it. And by big I also mean expensive.
Its so fun to have lesbian computer gamer news/V-Blogs no matter what the platform. They were a big factor in me buying a blu-ray disk player for my TV that just (innocent whistleing sound) happened to be a PS3. Oblivion its much better on the PC but I've sure enjoyed some of the other games you can't get on PC and also just learning about the whole other world of consules and how to move through worlds with controller instead of the mouse/keyboard.
Maybe they could use some written guest reviews or articules about PC and online games.
I saw that Heavy Rain trailer too and it did look good
What the.... !
Glad it wasn't just me who thought *something* about that particular scene. :)
I really need to proofread better. ;)

Not sure about the keypad
Seems like that is carpal tunnel syndrome just waiting to happen. And that scene in the trailer Harpy linked to, oh my.......that could get interesting.
Hooray for singstars... and
Hooray for singstars... and a Queen one... must not tell my mum about that one :/ ;)
And now I have hakuna matata stuck in my head... it's going to be a long day!
Guitar /Hero
I would kill for a MElissa Etheridge/all women guitarists..Guitar HEro!
Any one else?
Dragon RPG for PC
You all don't know but riding dragons is the reason I joined the "Darkside" of gameing (as oppossed to Adventure games) and there is a new RPG on its way called Divine Divinity II Ego Draconis for the PC.
Here is a trailer http://www.gamershell.com/download_31660.shtml its an awkward page, scroll down some passed the blank area and then you have to click on the video to get it to set up and then scroll down again passed the blank area and click again to get it moving. Unfortuatly I have no idea if you will get to play a women or if there are any decent portrails of women in it.
You don't get to ride a Dragon, you get to change back and forth into a Dragon at will and the game involves people not liking dragons so you have to choose carefully when to become one or not in the game (you play a Dragon slayer that OOOPs somehow gets the curse/power to turn into a dragon).
(Divine Divinity was a nifty little retro looking RPG that won "The Dumbest Title of the Year" award not too long ago...it was a really fun game with snarky skeletons. Also for PC. I think it also won "Best Sleeper RPG of the Year" which means best RPG you never heard of for the year it came out. I bellive you could make your hero a women but to be honest I can't remember...mostly you have armour on anyway)
