Kate Winslet says she’ll never get naked again

Celebrities love to make empty promises about things they’ll “never” do again. I attended at least two of Cher’s “farewell” tours (don’t judge me) and am pretty sure I watched both Jay-Z and M.I.A. perform after they “retired” from the music business. So, when Kate Winslet said she was going to stop getting naked in movies this week, I would hope she doesn’t really mean it. Although I have probably only seen five of them, Winslet has apparently gotten nude in at least 10 films. I certainly haven’t heard any complaints.

She also disrobed for Vanity Fair in December. The actress told Time magazine this week that she doesn’t “think” she will disrobe for a role again:

A) I can’t keep getting away with it, and b) I don’t want to become “that actress who always gets her kit off.”
It’s too bad, because Winslet’s nudity is a breath of fresh air when it comes to the usual naked actresses we see on screen. Her skin, her curves – sigh.

We aren’t the only ones admiring Winlset’s willingness to drop trow: “Kate Winslet is always naked, sitting on a toilet, or running buck naked,” Halle Berry said. “I want to be the kind of actress who can really be comfortable with my body like that.”

The 33-year-old actress should not worry about “getting away” with anything, but I suppose you have to do what makes you comfortable. If you find yourself wondering why you haven’t seen Kate Winslet naked as much as you could have, maybe you should rent some movies this weekend. Oh, and if you haven’t seen The Reader, I recommend checking it out before Sunday’s Oscars. My bet for the office Oscar pool is that she takes home Best Actress. For your viewing pleasure, these are just some of the films Winslet gets naked in: Titanic, The Reader, Hamlet, Iris, Holy Smoke, Little Children, Jude, Revolutionary Road – remember any more?
