Bill O'Reilly calls Kelly McGillis a pinhead

Oh, the hilarity: Bill O’Reilly — aka King of the Hypocrites, Right Wing Nut of the Century — has called actress Kelly McGillis a “pinhead” for deciding to come out of the closet. While most of us don’t care what O’Reilly has to say anyway, I feel the need to defend her, or at least mock the commentator of my nightmares.

News Hounds, the site that watches Fox News “so you don’t have to” reported today that O’Reilly was a little disturbed by former Top Gun and LWord actress McGillis’ coming out.

News Hounds reports:

Top Gun star Kelly McGillis got O'Reilly's top billing for saying that 'she's looking for a few good women — she's a lesbian. O'Reilly, clearly in disbelief, quoted her as saying, “I'm done with the man thing.”

“As they say, different strokes,” O'Reilly said, “but I still believe that people who put their private lives out there for consumption are pinheads.”

Really? I suppose it’s better to keep your sexual desires in the closet and criticize everyone else in the world. Isn’t that right Bill? We all know how much you love sexy phone calls with coworkers who don’t want you, vibrator therapy and trying to cheat on your wife. Too bad the public has consumed so much of your private life. Don’t sexual harassment lawsuits suck? Bummer!

News Hounds drew some more comparisons:

“So . . . McGillis did make the pinhead lineup for putting her private life out there for public consumption as a lesbian; Republican and macho man Mel Gibson didn't make the pinhead lineup for trotting out his new (female, by the way) hottie less than a month after his wife filed for divorce.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Fox News, here's the rule of thumb: Virile handsome heterosexual male faux-Christian anti-Semitic homophobic unfaithful husbands are given tea and sympathy, while beautiful, talented lesbians are pinheads.

And so it goes. Mel Gibson can hate on Jews, George Bush can endorse torture and O’Reilly can stalk progressive female bloggers, but coming out as a lesbian? What a pinhead move! No surprise, I suppose. Fortunately, O’Reilly is just another Fox News nut who thrives on nonsensical, hyperbolic bullshit, and we are pretty certain McGillis doesn’t care what he has to say anyway.

    That no one is nearly as disgusted by  Kelly McGillis being gay as they were by Bill O'Reilly's little scandal a few years back.  Everyone remembers the transcript of that phone call that was released yeah.  You know the one with the loofah?  Eww.

    And he's probably also jealous because most women prefer Rachel Maddow to him.  :-P

    I have been overwhelmed by the sexist, ageist, and homophobic reactions to her coming out.  Of course, I should know better than to read the comments sections in the news, imdb, and miscellaneous blogs.  It just depresses me that the woman I would have described as "The Hottest in the World" when I was younger actually comes out and is being trashed.

    Agree with the general contention of the article (O'Reilly has always creeped me out anyhow), but I don't think that Gibson is "handsome", or anything else that one might construe as positive. Sure, I may not be the best judge of this because I pretty much find all men rate rather high on the "yuck" factor, but he stands out as being particularly gross; which I'm sure is not helped by his almost Tom Cruisian lack of charisma.

    He reacted like a typical hetero male who just found out that someone he use to have wet dreams about, doesn't actually play for his team. Sorry Bill, but you may be surprised at how many of the beautiful women in this world are lesbians. And unlike straight people, we DO have to announce our sexual orientation, lest we be thought of as  ewwww straight. I'm glad Kelly is as proud to love women as I am:-)

    I'm amazed that people even comment on what this goof has to say. I've never seen his show, why would I?? I have seen him on interviews and geese thats enough.

This "man" for lack of  better word is an idiot!     What a twit…but seriously you know he’s doing it to pull the rank and file homophobes back to the fold. Who else in the universe would care about anything this malcontent says?

    Ironically, I was surprised at the bashing McGillis got on the Showtime message board for her guest appearance two years ago, like, "oh, my god what happened to her? She looks terrible…” yadda, yadda, yadda… It seems that O’Reilley is not the only one who makes ageist, sexist comments about gorgeous older actresses.

    Kelly's a tiger....O'Reilly is really skittish about strong, intelligent and sexy women.
