"Ugly Betty" cancels lesbian storyline but brings on Rachel Maddow

While there's been recent talk of a possible lesbian relationship between Judith Light and Christine Baranski on Ugly Betty, nothing had been confirmed. And lately, various sources are quoting Vanessa Williams as saying ABC squashed the idea entirely.

Digital Spy reports that the show's executive producer, Silvio Horta, said, "We thought about it, but ultimately decided to go in a direction that would set up more stories for next season."

Apparently, one lesbian on primetime television is enough. Thanks, Jessica Capshaw.

But don't worry — we will have some representation, in the form of our favorite out gay newswoman, Rachel Maddow. Spoilers that were released about the show, which comes back with the first of four new episodes tonight, have revealed that Maddow will guest on the show sometime this season.

I mean, who cares if Betty is finally ditching her braces? Rachel Maddow is going to be on! Oh, and Billie Jean King will also guest star, to play tennis (of course) with Wilhelmina.

See, that's two real life lesbians on one show — he same season. What do we really need fake lesbians for?

There will also be a couple of wedding proposals, with only one wedding. As of now, we can be pretty sure it won't be a lesbian wedding. Maddow still hasn't called me to propose. (Rachel, Tweet me!)

    Wait....

    That's right, we are now in the period of the Neilson Rating Sweeps!

    We all know what that means, quicky LGBTQ storylines being heavily promoted, which means maybe 2-3 episodes. (We will have Billie and Rachel) (Love my Rachel)

    After May 20th, when the period ends, is followed by the ending of the LGBTQ storylines.

     ABC is so lame!

    Wilhelmena and Christina. Neither have had much luck with men, and the whole baby thing did kind of bond them...

    I have had a crush on Judith Light since Who's the Boss. I would LOVE to see her in a lesbian storyline.

    i actually care tons if betty is getting rid of her braces. i think its about time. those things should have come off last season! and i think a hook-up between amanda and...another hottie would be real nice.

    I love Christine Baranski..she's always been an icon to me! It would have been awesome to see her hooking up with Judith Light! But having Rachel Maddow as a special guest is a fantastic comfort anyway ^-^! And..Betty getting de-braced?! What?!

    I've realised Rachel Maddow has a lot of the same qualities which make David Tennant awesome. Thatpinstripe suit, chunky glasses and the fact she wears sneakers under the table with her suits only confirms my thoughts.  And I grin without realising when I watch them and my voice goes all high when I talk about them (as they both have a habit of doing), charismatic, smart etc etc..
