Sweating with celebritiesFor those of us unfortunate enough to live in parts of the world that get really, really cold in the winter, it's not always easy to make it to the gym. That would require leaving your house more than necessary. But, luckily staying in on the 30-below-zero nights doesn't mean you can't get work up a sweat with a hot girl — for a workout. One of the latest home workout options is Totally Fit, a workout DVD from Mel B. That's right, Scary Spice. Although, there's nothing scary about her these days, unless you're intimidated by rock-hard abs and a British accent. A great combo, I must say.
Totally Fit has been out in the UK for a while, and will be available in stores in the U.S. on Feb. 3. In addition to beginner and advanced cardio exercises, the DVD features Mel's "secret ab workout," some favorite healthy recipes and other ways to tighten "tums and bums." Did I mention the British accent? Another recent release is in the form of a video game: "Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009" for Wii Fit. Although I was raging against my Wii Fit for aging me about 25 years for my apparent lack of balance, I'm really into the idea of being a recruit at Jillian's boot camp. (Now, if only I could recruit her.)
The game description: "Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009" is the first game of its type to combine a celebrity fitness trainer with the Wii and innovative Wii Balance Board accessory to offer you a fun and entertaining way to get fit. Under Jillian’s expert guidance, you can pursue a focused workout that helps you reach your fitness goals through rigorous, branching exercise routines, and multiple difficulty levels that will get you in the best shape of your life! I was sold at "Under Jillian..." Not into the idea of virtual fitness? Jillian also has a handful of DVDs out, The 30-Day Shred being the most recent. Of course, you could always just tune into The Biggest Loser and do what she screams at the contestants to do. Everyone's favorite out celebrity trainer, Jackie Warner, is another great option. Why pay $400 an hour to work out with her at Sky Sports when you can have her "one-on-one" on the Workout DVD?
Another DVD I'd like to try is Jillian's Biggest Loser partner Bob Harper's Get Queer Abs Fast. Although, mine are already about as queer as they come. Submitted by on January 16, 2009 - 2:30pm. |

Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatium 2009
i have Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatium 2009 and its fun but also a great workout
jackie warners workout is good to
Im not crazy, my reality is just different then yours.
Workout vids make me burst
Workout vids make me burst out in laughter. I think it's the overly enthusiastic trainers and their flouncy ponytails as they count and do step-ups. I'm much better off with my iPod and a run or some circuit training.
Plus, I'm sure Jillian's body (virtual or otherwise) would be waaay too much of a distraction. Hotness.
Inkblots
am I the only one who remembers this show?
agreed on the distracting nature of Jillian's body hah. I personally wouldn't have seen a video game as a plausible way to get fit, but it seems as though the technology and program exist. I've never seen any fitness dvds. The only memory I have of workout programs was this mental show that used to be on TV here at about 6am called 'aerobics oz style'. It was possibly the funniest thing i have ever seen. Lycra, headbands, ponytails and all.
lol
British Accent?
There's no such thing as a British Accent.
There is however, English, Scottish and Welsh.
She didn't say Mel B had
She didn't say Mel B had THE British accent. She said she had a British accent. A Leeds accent is indeed a British accent.
Or to follow your logic, it'd be just as wrong to say English, Scottish or Welsh accent as there are almost as many variations within each of these countries as there are in the UK as a whole.
Jillian
I was so excited when i
What do you mean really
What do you mean really cold in the winter? Its only -15.
D:
I'm really kind of hesitant to do the whole video game workout thing...it seems weird to me. The point of video games is to sit...but Mel B and Jackie's videos look fun.
Sweating...
I hate workout videos...if you do them, you look like an idiot in the middle of your living room (and usually hit your head or your elbow on the coffee table) and if you just watch them for the lovely ladies, you end up feeling guilty and fat!
Personally, if I want to look at a sweaty lady with perfect abs, I dig out a video of Joan Jett performing live...just watching her is enough to make anyone resolve to work out and become vegan...bet she'd be a great fitness trainer too...lol
Biggest Loser Workout DVDs
There's no "British"
There's no "British" accent, just like there's no one "American accent", Mel B's from Leeds so she's got a West Yorkshire accent really! I was brought up 25 mins from leeds and I have a completely different accent! Oh well lol who cares, Mel B's hot.
workout videos
I own several, but I hate doing them. Mostly because they make me hate the host; I get so tired and so exhausted, and the hosts are always so peppy and chatty and immaculate. Why don't they sweat? It literally makes me want to kick my television.
I have no problems with taking kickboxing or pilates actual classes, though, which is weird.
