No Doubt prepares to tour with Paramore

No Doubt announced on its website yesterday that the band will be going back on tour this summer, bringing along their young pop-rock counterparts, Paramore. It's like a dream right out of "Guitar Hero World Tour." (For those you aren't strangely obsessed, both bands have a song in the newest game).

But I digress.

As most people know, No Doubt has been on hiatus for the last five years, in which time Gwen Stefani has kept busy rising to superstardom in her own right, and had a couple of kids with former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale (aka my last-ever guy crush, circa 1994). But now the rest of the band can knock off the "Spiderwebs" and hit the road with the new material they've been working on.

In their statement, drummer Adrian Young said:

Now that five years have passed, the excitement level for us is extremely high. We are so fresh and ready! I feel like a kid again when rehearsing these songs.

The last time the band toured was in 2004, with Blink-182 (who are also in the process of getting back together, if you haven't heard), so it'll No Doubt be a fresh, fun show. You know what they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder or whatever. And, even though Gwen's been all B-A-N-A-N-A-S, it's never been the same as the whole, Rocky Steady group, complete with the never-ending tension between Gwen and Tony Kanal, the bassist and her ex-boyfriend from 500 years ago.

While having Paramore come along to support them on tour may seem like a perfect combo, I can't help but find it a bit strange that singer Hayley Williams was four years old when No Doubt released their self-titled debut. But I guess Save Ferris and Letters to Cleo wouldn't exactly bring the kids out these days. Case in point: my 15-year-old sister is in love with Hayley but has never heard of the last two bands I mentioned.

No dates are confirmed yet, though the North American tour will kick off in May. The Sounds, Janelle Monáe and Bedouin Soundclash are also slated to perform.

<3 The Sounds

I freakin' love The Sounds, and I've been a fan of No Doubt since the Tragic Kingdom days!  Oooh, and how HOT is Gwen in the black & white pic?!  She rocks!  As for Paramore...ehh.  They don't really do anything for me.

BTW, I totally laughed at the Letters to Cleo quip.  I used to dig them back in the day, too.

Save Ferris and Letters to Cleo!

I am only 20 (which could still be considered a kid) and completely in love with Hayley Williams, but Save Ferris and Letters to Cleo would without a doubt bring me out.

I'll be 29 next month and I have no idea who Paramore is.  But No Doubt was always a fave back in high school.  Glad to hear they're back; I didn't really care for Gwen's solo stuff that much.

Bloody hell, I'm not supposed to feel old before I even hit 30.

i would love, love, looooove

i would love, love, looooove to see No Doubt in concert.. Tragic Kingdom is still one of my top ten favorite cds all these years later.

what would be ideal is if 1990's No Doubt (circa Tragic Kingdom) and 1990's Bush (circa Sixteen Stone) would play together... come on Gwen and Gavin!

also, thanks for mentioning LTC... now I got Here & Now all up in my head :)

So excited!

Though I love Paramore, to be honest, I couldn't care less who's supporting No Doubt...the exciting news is NO DOUBT ARE BACK!!!

Gwen was one of my first ever lesbian crushes, and whilst I have loved her solo stuff too, I preferred the wilder, more rockin', No Doubt version of her...phew, she looks hot in that new black and white pic...

They better do a world tour including the UK sometime soon...or I might be forced to get on a plane!

Can't wait for the new album either, Gwen's lyrics are always so personal and reflective...

I'm so excited I even changed my myspace profile song from Joan Jett to No Doubt - for me, if you've seen any of my posts about Joan , that's huge!! lol

I never listen to things they say, cos what you hear gets in your way (Joan Jett)

cserri's picture

So going to be there...somewhere

No Doubt + Paramore + The Sounds (hopefully) -- it's worth a drive if they don't come to the Nashville-area.  Can't wait.  <insert stupidly excited, fairly embarassing, fangirl squee!>  I've been peeved Paramore hasn't been back to Nashville in so long even though they're from around here, and if they're headlining for No Doubt!  I may not love Gwen's solo stuff, but the band is amazing.  And then there's The Sounds...ahh, The Sounds.....

Jadey's picture

I miss all these bands...

If they come here touring I'm DEFINITELY going, No Doubt AND Paramore. Just sheer awesomeness.

I would definitely go and see Blink182 when/if they get back together, that would be amazing. And Letters to Cleo.

I really hope that this is a good year for reuinions, and I hope none of them turn shit. ¬_¬

I think if the line up was Paramore, Letters To Cleo, No Doubt and Blink182 I would have died and gone to heaven.

I'm a HUGE Blink182 fan and so long as its none of that shit from the last album I'll be happy. That Self Intitled one was complete shit. I'm sorry but it wasn't Blink at all. I like the more happy bouncy stuff, thats why I loved them in the first place.

Leah's picture

WHOOOOOO!!!

YES! I've been waiting for Gwen's solo stuff to pause so that real rock music could be made again!!! I was never a fan of her pop trash and cheerleader anthems.

I don't know what I think of Paramore, they sound like a lot of different bands out already. I guess they were fortunate that their song was used for Twilight.

At any rate, I'd go to the show regardless because seeing No Doubt play the songs I heard for the first time when I was 8 would be a dream come true!

SAVE FERRIS!!!

Um...are you a 27 year old Jewish girl from the Valley, because your references are so spot on I'm wondering if I wrote this in my sleep.  Perfection.  I'm completely overjoyed that No Doubt is going back on tour in a way that only someone who grew up with Gwen can be.  And despite my love for my wife, Gwen, and the fact that Save Ferris broke up, Monique still has one of the greatest voices ever and if the industry wasn't so closed-minded she'd be the famous one.

Yeah, No doubt and Paramore rules!!!!

I´ll be expecting about the dates, maybe I get some extra money and I will be flying from Colombia to USA jejeje (what can I say? I am a dreamer :D) but seriously, those bands are really awesome and they represent the huge musical spectrum, besides, it is funny to know that Hayley was four years old when No Doubt released their self-titled debut, jejeje, what a difference!!!: the much grow up lady, Gwen, against the tiny kid Hayley lolo. And just for the record: I am so in love with Hayley, in fact, I only hope that she plays for our team (a girl can dream, right?) and believe me, I heard a lot from Save Ferris, since Come on Eileen, and from Letters to Cleo, and I´m not to young and not to old ;P I´m in de middle.

gah!

Paramore, No Doubt, Bedouin Soundclash, AND Janelle Monae?!
