Madonna wants to be part of "New Moon"

Ryan Seacrest announced on E! News that Madonna is set to be part of the Twilight sequel, New Moon, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's hair. While no one seems to be entirely sure as to the extent of Madge's involvement, the film's executive producer, Guy Oseary, has said that she will most likely appear in the film, in addition to providing music for the soundtrack.

This news is perplexing. I'm half interested, and half mind-blown. The soundtrack makes sense. Madonna's shape-shifting musical style could fit right into the background of pretty much any film. Her whole "Frozen" era proves that she can be dark, in that gloomy, Pacific Northwest vampire-y kinda way. In fact, she looked more like a vampire in that video than Pattison did in the first film. So, I think it's definitely possible that she'd fit right in with the undead.

Plus, these days, she certainly has looked svelte and pale enough to be convincing, too. But after the horribly failed, ex-husband-directed Swept Away, could we ever take Madonna seriously as an actress again? And in a teen vampire love story, at that?

I'm not sure which role I could see Madonna playing in New Moon. Maybe if Dakota Fanning does, in fact, join the cast as Volturi guard Jane, she could be Jane's mother. There's a slight resemblance. But that's before they get their goth on, so who knows.

What do you think: Should Madonna stick to the soundtrack or can you see her with some fangs? We know Guy Ritchie already has.

no kidding

Madonna as part of Twilight? I've read the books and there is no part for her. Maybe one of the Volturi's wife but they're all supposed to be extremely beautiful and in their 20s... And Jane doesn't have a mother, only Alec, her twin brother...

Stick to the music...

Madonna is a great singer, but sorry, a shitty actress.  Stick to the soundtrack, please.  And Jamie, it's Robert Pattinson, not Pattison.

that is so awesome

i never seen Madonna act before but im looking forward to seeing her in New Moon.

Hell no

Nobody wants Madonna in a movie EVER!

not so much

I'm a HUGE Madonna fan and will always defend her as a musician/performer, but even I have to admit that her acting skills are seriously lacking...

That being said, it doesn't surprise me that she'd want to be involved with the film.  Guy Oseary is her manager and Madonna NEVER misses an opportunity to attach herself to whatever/whomever is hot and trendy at the moment.  She's remarkably business savvy-- that's how she's managed to remain relevent, even after all these years.

Holy...

Hope I'm not the only one who thinks that this is kinda weird. I didn't think she would ever act again after most of her movies were crap^^ . She should just concentrate on what she does best, music ;)

More Well Known Celebrities in this One

Apperently sinced Twilight bombed they are trying to make up for it as much as possible. I've read these books and while I'm not obsessed I don't see how she could fit into New Moon, considering its all about Bella's desperation for Edward.

I guess I she could be preforming in Paris while they rush through the square or maybe a teacher but as a Vampire, Hmm, Not sure sure.

Side note - Jane doesn't have a mother.

Unfortunately, it didn't

Unfortunately, it didn't bomb. The reviews were middling, but it was the biggest ever opening for a female director (which I'd have been a lot happier about if the franchise itself weren't a steaming pile of sexism) so I doubt they're hurting for money.

The Movie bombed in a different way.

Its not so much about the movie. Sure the movie raked in tons of money because of the already huge fanbase, but I think the acting, make - up, and the overall feel of the movie was terrible.

I agree with

I agree with ScarletBloodDoll that it bombed in a different way.  The movie raked in a lot of money for sure, but I couldn't help but laugh throughout most of the movie.  And this is coming from a Twilight fan.

I can't see Madonna in any role in the movie...  Except...  There is a part where Alice (my Cullen crush) steals an exotic sports car from the airport while in Italy.  I can see Madonna being the owner of the Porsche.  They would have to expand on that scene a little, though.

I don't care...

If she's a terrible actress, Madonna rules! so if she's in it i'll see it (i haven't even seen the first one)

Epic Fail.

I laughed throughout much of the movie. I take that back, I laughed the entire movie and I LOVE the series, flaws and all.

Madonna however. Should just stick to what she knows, music.

I don't think we should be so easily dismissive of Madonna's entire body of work--A League of Their Own is a serious classic!

"There's no crying in baseball!"

One of the best and well-delivered lines I've seen on film. Unlike the lines Tom Hanks had, Madonna's were relatively expendable....well, the dance scene was kinda kickass and her relationship with Rosie O's character was cool. I think any other young and semi-athletic actress could have had the same performance level.

yeah but that all honesty,

yeah but that all honesty, that was just a good movie all around. She wasn't the anchor or star in the movie, highlight yeah, but not the anchor.

Uh, why are big names trying

Uh, why are big names trying to attach their names to such drivel? Please.
Cinematic_Sunrise's picture

they cannot do this...

i was terribly disappointed with twilight, and im really hoping they dont screw up New Moon too- but casting MADONNA to be in the movie? cheeseandrice WTF??! it was bad enough hearing that vanessa hudgens was rumored to be cast AND that hillary duff was also interested in getting a role... NO NO NO - kindly keep celebrities and disney channel starlets out of the Twilight series completely, please...

STACIA's picture

Okay...

Y'all may claim it, but NOBODY is a bigger fan of the Queen in AE then MOI.  That said, M is more believable in roles where she doesn't have to stretch her nimble acting talent.  For example, I really enjoyed her in "The Next Best Thing."  I could see her having a VERY small, VERY brief cameo in the film, but not a big role, no way.  As for the soundtrack?  HELL YEAH!

HELL TO THE NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I am highly against any big stars embarassing themselves in such  trashy films!. ( thats right I can predict its going to be as trashy as the first one) . I've read the books and the books are just good as they are - books- not movies!.

Being in the soundtrack is good enough due to the huge fan base. Itll come in handy, why not take advantage of other people money problems? :D Or apparent lack thereof during a tough financial era as they often like to call it?.

HELL NO

Ok they are all supposed to be beautiful and charming and young looking and all and i'm sorry but that does not include Madonna. Now if she's going to be in the soundtrack thats great, but the movie? No no..

Please to God no!

I cannot think of any role as a vampire that she would be able to play. Maybe in the movie for Breaking Dawn, since there will be more and older vampires in that. But New Moon? No...

I do like Dakota Fanning for Jane though. I pretty much pictured someone like her when I was reading the book. The power to torture you with her sweet but creepy little smile. Yes... she can be in the movie.

livebreathecisum's picture

Why?

Why must they ruin the books with these terrible movies?
cowboyslady1031's picture

Madonna not as a vampire

You guys are all going to town on her not being a vampire, but what about Madonna having a very small role.. say maybe the role of Heidi? The actress they had queued to play Heidi had another bigger poject come up and dropped out of the film. She could also be Mikes mom. They are both very small roles and would be great for a cameo, and if they wanted to keep her coming in Eclipse. There are loads of small roles that would be great for her. That don't require much talking or anything besides sitting there and looking smug. She's tall and still looks young enough to play Heidi.

Anyone else think of the samll but noticable roles in New Moon? Maybe she is going to be Sue... That would be.. interesting.... it is an older role.
