Lindsay Lohan scores a role in "The Other Side"Lindsay Lohan is making some positive news for a change. Since this year's Labor Pains is headed straight to TV, it wasn't exactly the acting comeback everyone was expecting for the actress, who's last theatrical release was the 2007 thriller I Know Who Killed Me. But don't worry — Lindsay is finally getting a second chance.
It was just announced that Lindsay will star in an indie fantasy comedy, The Other Side, along with Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Alanis Morissette and, strangely enough, Dave Matthews.
In the film, Lohan will play a grad student who spends her summer working for a scientific institute on an island, where she discovers an "eccentric community of characters who are hiding a secret about a tragedy that took place many years before." Eccentric sounds pretty accurate, given the other actors involved. (Now Dave Matthews doesn't seem so completely random — just a little bit.) The film sounds interesting, and has a cast that will surely draw viewers, so this could just be the comeback role Lindsay needs. Luckily, director David Michaels recognized that and is willing to give her that break. He recently told Daily Variety, "Lindsay's very aware of people's perceptions of her. She's really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that."
Great. Although, if she's really all that aware of people's perceptions of her, why hasn't she called me? Filming for The Other Side is slated to begin in October on "an island off the coast of Massachusetts." Sounds like a good time to plan a Martha's Vineyard vaca. I can't stand this girl. She has a long way to go to win back my approval and a silly movie with a mediocre cast definitely isn't enough. If she wants to change her image and get her career back on track, then why is it I see her out EVERY night clubbing or stalking Samantha? She's not sending out the message that she's serious about anything and it really pisses me off when someone with her beauty and talent throws it all away by acting like a moron. What a waste!
I think she's a selfish little brat who'll sh*t her pants the day the paparazzi stop following her. She's addicted to the fame and notoriety. She wouldn't know a quiet respectable life as an A list actress (a la Portman, Johanssen, Adams, Blunt) if it smacked her in the face. I really don't think a serious acting career is her M.O.. I think fame and money are more important to her than respectability.

actually looking forward to seeing her back on the big screen - hopefully she'll be able to turn the last few years around what with the kicks up the arse she's been having lately from all different directions.
i will always remember her fondly for the parent trap too, although it is kind of hard to connect the image she has now with the sweet little twins she played...
