there are videos of girls throwing their bras onstage and stories tee and ess have told with funny results of course. why anyone would do that though...i don't know.

When you are cool, stylish, not dependant on men, and know yourself, we have to assume you're gay. :D

I don't like her. Saw her being interviewed on GMTV and I thought she was abit of an arse tbh.  I do love 'Bulletproof' though. Spiffing song.

im a big la roux fan. hoped she was gay from the beginning, but her songs make it pretty clear she's straight. got to see her when she came through sf a few months ago, though, and she was fantastic. she still seems slightly shy and awkward in front of a crowd, but then again, she's still pretty young. it's not exactly pleasing to hear her assert her straightness, but i guess when you look as androgynous as she does, ppl do tend to assume certain things.

speaking of hot chicks from overseas, though, i think id rather Ladyhawke be gay (is she??). oh god, or florence!! wishful thinking?

She's a liar. I know for a fact that she is a lesbian no matter how much she's trying to deny it. And her songs are totally ambiguous on purpose so you can't tell whether she's talking about a grl or boy.

so i think she just says things for effect in interviews. to seem edgy or detached.

I couldn't care less whether she's gay or not. I think her music SUCKS (having survived the crappy '80s UK pop scene once already) and I don't like her attitude (see mildypeeledpotatoes' post above). about her sexuality since I happen to have a copy of a certain american mag which features an article of her and in the article is stated pretty clearly she is not willing to label herself. Which to me translates she's not straight nor gay. And something in between or out of those definitions.

But what ever the deal with her sexuality is, La Roux is an interesting band and their album is a great one. Hopefully their 2nd album is as amazing as the 1st one. And for Elly Jackson, she's got a good thing going on with the mistery part. She has stated that she doesn't want to give it all up.. and adores Prince in this matter.

haha I just read mildypeeledpotatoes's post.

She sounds arrogant already and she's only JUST started to become very popular.

 

Doesn't mean she isn't some other brand of queer.  Some of her songs seem to be addressing a girl (i.e. "Quicksand" and "Tigerlily.")  As for some of her comments, I kind of sympathize with her.  She seems to have had a rough childhood, being made fun of and labelled as gay, so her denying the rumors might be because of some of that resentment.  Maybe.  But I can see why she'd be upset that people are coming to see her shows because of her perceived sexuality rather than her music.  She's trying to make a livelihood from it, and she wants people to like her for her art, not for who she's dating.  I dunno, I'm rather partial to her because we're both gingers.  :P

I dont think she should be blaming whateevr happened in her childhood on how women choose to dress in general today. Just because not every woman have the same fashion sense as her dosen't mean she can use it as an excuse to put every woman in the box (and lesbians) the way she did. Why did she put on a 'big butch voice' when mimicking a lezzie? yeah, because all gay/bi woman are butch.

I think its the way she comes across in public when it comes to interviews and whatever else.

She sometimes comes off as rude. And whether she means to sound rude or not, if people listening to what you say (especially fans and non-fans) think you are a bit rude while you're an upcoming musician, that equals arrogance.

No mater how talented a person is, being rude in public isin't cool

La Roux put on a good show last night, though it was the shortest main act I've ever seen (~50 mins, no encores, no covers, almost no speaking). They need more songs!

i saw her and thought gay cause she's got cool hair i guess im as prone to stereotypes as the next person, but my gf saw her and thought nah its just her style. I dunno though, someone commented that if she wants to stay closeted to get her gfs mates to shut up, I think thats a really good point. Im sick of gay closeted or not out celebrities moaning when someone reports on their sexuality when they spent last weekend with their tongue down their same-sex partners throat in the biggest gay club in town cough* kate moenig, alicia keys, missy elliot queen latifah cough* you dont get to have both ya either come out and enjoy yaself or ya stay in ya house lonely so noone knows :P

She's quite young, lets not forget, and probably still naive enough to think she can get away with being so coy when it comes to her sexuality. The bottom line is, she's never said she is straight, if she was, it probably wouldnt be such a big deal. I honestly don't believe she's straight, not one bit. Also, this may sound controversial but she does stereotypicallly look like a lesbian, she really does - and she's all about the "coolness" so im sure it wouldnt be very cool for her for everyone to guess that from the way she looks!!!!

i think, if anything, elly was either misquoted (it is heat magazine & they’ve already misjudged her sister jessica’s age - she is elly’s older sister.) or she deliberately said she wasn’t gay in an attempt to stop all the questioning. or as i see it - she was just being cheeky & meant she wasn’t only to the ‘raging’ bit.

i think when you are a fan as big as i am & are gay/bi yourself you can’t help but notice all the little things, body language, childhood stories, etc. you piece pieces together & it all makes perfect sense. it takes one to know one.

this all harps back to her NME interview. i think she handled that beautifully. & i completely understand why she doesn’t want to come out at this point in her career or publicly ever at all. it’s a personal decision & from my perspective ellys in it for the music & nothing else so i would be happy with her continuing to play mysteriously around the subject & never giving us an answer.

i could honestly write an essay on this subject. because we all know the truth. i wouldn’t believe her for a second even if she flat out said - “i am not gay”. she isn’t fooling anyone on our team.

& i am quite intrigued by this keeping her gf's mouth shut in london comment. ooh, gossip travels fast in the gay world!

I dont think its clear what her sexuality is.

 All the quotes I've read sound quite ambiguous and shes not directly stating 'I'm straight, not gay'. She also beats around the bush alot, and waffles on.

I read one quote from an article where she says shes not gay, but she wont say shes straight. She just says anyone can fall in love with anyone.

Im assuming she bisexual. Quicksand is definitely about a girl! And it doesnt sound like the song is about a confusion with her sexuality, however that she is the sexy gay girl getting toyed with by a girl who's got a boyfriend! In I'm not your toy she does say 'Boy, your touches leave me mystified', therefore thats why I think shes more bisexual than fully gay.

 I understand where shes coming from, as soon as she comes out there will be alot of focus on her sexuality. It must be hard for her getting confronted about her sexuality alot, and that obviously will happen as shes mainstream. However seriously she cant be so naive, if shes going to dress the way she does, she must know her sexuality will be under speculation!

 I get that now may be a bit hard to come out about her sexuality, she wants it to be about the music and not who she loves.

 

I saw an interview with her on YouTube, and she was asked what one of her songs meant. She said that she heard some guy used it to come out to his parents "So for now that's what it's about"...which is interesting!
