Fergie shows her Sapphic side in new music video

The new Black Eyed Peas video for "I Gotta Feeling" has everything you'd expect from a G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S Los Angeles house party: impressively dressed model-esque guests, tons of booze, a swimming pool, glow in the dark body paint, and, of course, some fauxmosexuals.

With some girl-on-girl action peppered throughout the video, a large focus has been on Fergie's own same-sex interaction, or her "raunchy lesbian scene," as The Mirror calls it.

Sure, she's spotted grinding on some ladies, feeling up some girls' legs, and running some sort of feathery bondage item along one female party-goer's side — but I mean, that's just any Friday night, right? She's not even seen locking lips with another girl or touching one's lovely lady lumps, so what's so raunchy about it?

In a recent interview, Fergie hyped up the scene, saying, "You'll like our next video, for 'I Gotta Feeling,' because I have a little girl-on-girl tease section of the video. ... I met the girls right before we did the scene. They were beautiful. They were hot. One of them was the director's girlfriend — so he was happy!'"

But the most "lesbianish" scene of the video doesn't even involve Fergie — just some random L Word-type ladies frenching in a corner. But, given the fact that Stacy Ferguson has openly spoken about her lesbian experiences in the past, and even vaguely referred to herself as bisexual, it's not surprising that this new video is causing such a stir. But then again, considering all of that, people shouldn't be so surprised.

Besides, wasn't Fergie's solo performance of Heart's "Barracuda" on The Today Show last year much, much raunchier than this video? I mean, there were children in that audience, front row, while she did back-bends in her skin-tight leggings and crawled seductively across the stage. Yet, it's her "lesbian scene" in her band's new video that's getting all the attention.

At least the song, which the band performed last night on David Letterman, is catchy. You can watch the video for "I Gotta Feeling" here. What do you think of Fergie's performance?

I really didn't want to like this song but I can't help it :( I'm already addicted to it! And yeah, the video's getting way too much attention for what it is, but it is quite a good video ;)

Can I just tell you how much

I detest Fergie ever since "My Humps," which is the single worst song of all time!  The last thing I need to see her doing is playing to the male crowd by doing some kind of faux lesbian act.

Trying to one up Love Game?

Lady Gaga's recent "Love Game" has her frenching a lady cop and a dude cop but I've only ever seen it aired late night or on PopLab, that is when I want to go the antiquated TV as a source for music videos route.

After Boom Boom Pow, The B.E.Ps should boom boom disappear.

ok

ok so the song is catchy but that is not anywhere close to being a lesbianish video. that is a normal night in a straight club (how the girls are acting)...

Black Eye Peas New Album Sucks!

The other song sucks. This "I Got A Feeling" song sucks. The video sucks. Out of respect for Fergie, she's a married womyn. I wouldn't want my rockstar girlfriend making out  with no one on a music video.

All I saw was two womyn kissing. As far as Lesbanish (with no men at all)- none.

Two thumbs down in the gutta!

Yeah that is how I feel.

i like it

I actually really liked this song and the video. However, if I hadn't read this article first I don't think I would have even noticed that there was girl on girl anything going on. It just looked like a fun party scene.

I agree! I loved this song

I agree! I loved this song about a minute into it. THe vid is awesome. I just downloaded this song! (legally, of course...)

Love it

Agree with girl above.

If I hadn't read this article, I probably wouldn't have noticed anything girl-on-girl. Even after reading this, I get nothing more than a party scene feeling from the video. It is clearly getting way more attention than it deserves.

Too Much Hype

I watched this video expecting way more action than was there. Fergie's just trying to stir up controversy but she can't even do that right. I'm in university and that party was tame in comparison to what's happening on campuses everywhere.

Also, this song isn't that great. I do love Boom Boom Pow so I can't totally hate on BEP.

Yeah...this is my least

Yeah...this is my least favorite song from them and I usually love their stuff....there is nothing close to raunchy in the video....kinda disappointing lol

Hmm

Took some notes - Good night = make out with a girl, pass out in public.

Let's see if I can't make that happen this weekend. Erm, no.

The song has its pop appeal, but I find the shouty parts (verses?) to be like those silly songs that the Lonely Island SNL guys put out.

I like the song but...

troubling video

hmmm, the song is fun, but the video is quite troubling, particularly the last third, with people falling down - obviously drunk - in the street.  and the person laying on the ground, perhaps unconscious, at "the end"?  doesn't seem like a good night to me.

Don't Believe the Hype!

I had to rewatch the video to see it , because I completely missed it the first time. All the hype is a clear example of the ongoing fauxlesbian advertisement for publicity.

The only good thing about this was the video...the song kinda sucks.

oh please

oh please, that was tame. i wouldn't have even noticed her touching some girl's leg once, maybe twice? unless you'd pointed it out. a whole lot of fuss over nothing.

but i do love the song and the video's fun; i've been a huge fan of the peas since the beginning and i can't wait to get their new album. monkey business was kind of boring, but "i gotta feeling" this one's going to be better, from the 2 singles of theirs i've already heard. :]

i have to admit its a damn

i have to admit its a damn good song. i don't care about fergie playing around with girls there. its not even a big deal. it's not like she made out with some girl or anything.

Not like bars around here

Sure wish I hung out where u ladies do, if this goes on in your towns. The only girl-on-girl action we get in our bars is if the redneck boys pay their girls to get into a lip lock when they're totally messed up. I wish this were just a regular party scene in my town-I'd be in heaven.

uncensored version

The uncensored version of the video has some guy pulling down the black haired girls top while she is kissing the blonde, which I thought was extremely lame.

Watch it here: http://blackeyedpeas.dipdive.com/

About 1 second worth of partial nudity @ 2:01 mark.

Song is tight and the vid is fun but it just looks like they got exactly what they wanted out of the whole lesbian scene - publicity (and probably some praises from at least the straight men). But for me, nope, didn't do much. I love the new album tho.

please

i think my own mother is going to show more enthusiasm if she was going to pretend she's into those girls.

it was like Fergie being forced into it at gunpoint, she wasnt even looking at them, this is the least lesbian thing ive ever seen.

and yes, exploiting girl-action for pulicity, not cool.

I didn't like

not the first time for her!

Let's not forget about her small role as Marley Shelton's girlfriend in "Planet Terror." ;) I will always love her for that role.

The E.N.D?

This is not the most memorable Black Eyed Peas song/video and The E.N.D is not their best album BUT it is a good dance album! This song fits the electronica/dance feel they're going for and I like it!

And the "lesbian" action is anything but Fergie is hot so I'm not complaining.

I really miss..

the good old days back at Elephunk when the band first met Fergie. Sure, she was only a few songs, but she was singing "Fly Away" and "Shut Up" not my humps. Honestly, B.E.P. hasn't had a good CD since then

I was there, yo! ooohbarracuda, fo sho!

I was thrilled when she randomly sang the Heart song... as you can guess from my name on here... sweet surprise! Is it weird though that I didn't think anything odd of her preformance.... not until I saw it on Best Year Ever & was I like, oh' Really? It's worthy of Best YEAR Ever on VH1?? Cool, 'Nough. What was funny though is the drummer threw his sticks into the crowd and my friend caught one & gave it to me! ... that is right after it bounced off this girls head! HAHAHA Good times.

The song is kind of catchy, the best part of the video in my opinion however is the cameo of Ongina, I heart her!
