Anna Faris and Amy Poehler recreate the classicsVanity Fair's photographers have given us yet another aesthetically pleasing spread this month with Laughing Matter: Comedy's New Legends, featuring some of the industry's most popular fresh faces. While the portfolio includes most of the expected men of comedy (Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel hilariously recreate the Tom Ford/Scarlett Johansson/Keira Knightley Vanity Fair cover and Russell Brand impersonates Charlie Chaplin), the ladies included are hardly gratuitous.
Amy Poehler, who left Saturday Night Live last October after eight seasons, appears alongside her husband, Will Arnett as "The Accomplices." While I definitely appreciate Arnett's humor (especially as Arrested Development's Gob), it's Poehler who really stands out in this photo. And not just because she's in color while he's black and white. Or because she has a plunging neckline.
While I'm certainly a big fan of Tina Fey, it's good to see Poehler starting to get the attention she deserves as well. Here's hoping her new NBC show, Parks and Recreation, is equally as successful as 30 Rock. Fey and Poehler on two separate shows: It's not competition, it's spoiling us! Anna Faris and Leslie Mann are paired up with Jason Bateman and Bill Hader to recreate The Honeymooners, minus the balding and beer bellies. Farris' recent role as a former Playmate in The House Bunny solidified her role in comedy, which will outlast the potency of her ditzy one-liners in Scary Movie and its sequels. The three films she has coming out this year should help convince you of that, too.
Meanwhile, Mann (Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin) is set to star in this year's highly anticipated comedy Funny People, written and directed by her husband, Judd Apatow. What do you think of these "new legends"? Is Vanity Fair spot on? Submitted by on March 2, 2009 - 3:30pm. |

Leslie Mann
if VF sez so...
I'll bite. :) There's nothing I love more than their photographic articles.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
i like it :)
Wow...
LOL, I love all those men in the re-creation photo especially Jonah Hill. Superbad is such a funny movie. I remember Leslie Mann from George of the Jungle LOL. It used to be one of my fave movies! She's been around for a while so it's about time she's getting some recognition.
Amy Poehler looks gorgeous
Amy Poehler looks gorgeous and classy. Uh, I love her.

love it
love that vanity fair has a sense of humor - and in a world of print crap, the magazine consistently has insightful articles and great photos. cant wait to read this article - oh, and call me crazy, but Anna, Amy and Leslie look far better than either Kiera or Scarlett. Taking yourself too seriously can be seriously unattractive. counting down the days until Parks & Recreation (looking forward to Rashida Jones, too!)!
