Ellen invites Katy Perry into her bathroom

I couldn't stop smiling throughout the entire rendition. Ellen says so much without having to actually say anything...she's amazing! =)

"Bon anniversaire et donne moi le salle de bains. Which translates as 'happy birthday and hand me....the bathroom.'"

That was amazing.  I love Ellen and her masterful use of the eyebrows.

Also, Katy Perry, how do you forget the words to your own song?

"No problem is insoluble, given a big enough plastic bag."

Gah, but I hate that song with the firey passion of a thousand suns.

I initially would have been really worried about Ellen having Katy Perry on her show, given the marginalisation of that nasty piece of 'music'. But to have her on in order to show it up and denigrate the lyrics? Priceless.

I don't understand the appeal of Katy Perry, I mean yeah, she is beautiful, but her songs paint homosexuality as something bad ("I Kissed A Girl" and "You're So Gay, And You Don't Even Like Men").

 Sure, people have a right to their own opinion, but I really don't see how Ellen is taking the piss out of Katy. I think it's just wishful thinking for some. And the point of Katy not remembering the lyrics...seriously!, you actually thought she didn't remember? Wow!

I thought the bathroom session was hilarious! The part where they sing "I hope my boyfriend don't mind it", you see Katy making a gesture with her hand as if she's saying "oh who cares what he thinks!" But that's just my point of view.

 And Katy, I don't care if it experimental, I'd make out with you, even if it is "just to try it"!

I like Katy Perry (don't know much about the music though apart from the "controversial " pieces) and  I don't find her songs offensive, I find them totally straight, and IT IS FINE!:)

It's like singing about a boy you are wrong to be attracted to cos he comes from the bad neighbourhood.

I loved this for so many reasons! Katy is not as dumb as some of you seem to think. She gets it. I like Katy Perry. I think that she is hilarious. I've done some major research on her (trust me there was a time when I was not fond of my Katy Perry feelings) but the more I learned about her, the more I liked her. She has a great sense of humor, and the whole forgetting the words to her own song was part of that sense of humor. She doesn't really give that much of a shit about what people think.

I feel that its very easy to dislike her (and I completely understand how some of you are angry about her lyrics, and you have a right to your feelings) but I simply can't dislike her. I've tried. She is by no means clueless as to what people think about her. I think that her coming on Ellen, and singing "I Kissed a Girl" with her, more than anything proves that she gets it.

Oh, come on! That clip is hilarious. That's what I love about Ellen, she's so extremely multisided funny.

It's bad when the original singer cannot even sing her own song. Ouch like nails on a chalkboard. Both should stick to dancing haha. Ellen really saved that piece for me with the nodding and the eyebrows.

I wonder if some of you are letting your hate for that song cloud any other view you could have on Katy. She's actually pretty hilarious,and I don't think she's nearly as naive as most people think she is. Maybe you just need to take her songs with a pinch of salt. 

Anyway, I thought this was cute! Ellen is quite the singer. 

as for them singing it together, tottally hilarious and i agree Katy tottally got the irony and knew what was going on, she just played it offmlike she didn't. this one is second only to the ellen and portia one, that one was so sweet

Can we just make note of the fact that Katy Perry not only FORGOT the lyrics to her own song, but she also can't sing for shit. haha 

To be honest I don't understand the big hubbabuloo about this song though. It happens. Straight girls kiss other straight girls at parties, and sometimes they like it. I don't see what's so damn controversial about it.

Hate the song all you want [I'm the first to say its def not my fav] but you are all projecting like crazy, in no way was Ellen trying to "take her down" because unlike many posters here, Ellen doesn't politicise a party song. KP is a pretty decent singer, cute, funny and extremely supportive of the gay community. It's not her fault the song became a hit, and its not meant to be offensive. I wish AE writers and readers would just give her a break...

i dont think katy is a talented singer, but she is who she is. i can tell she has a sense of humor even if i dont like her music. but come on people its supposed to be just a girl anthem. its not serious stuff, and lets face it sex sells and theyre just there to make a buck. plus shes going to perform at the Dinah this year, the worlds largest lesbian event, if that doesnt show her support of the community what does?

plus shes pretty, just enjoy the view.

do not watch Ellen. The bathroom concert series is to sing songs in an offkey way and have fun. Katy Perry was joking when she said she forgot the words. The whole thing was just a good time and not meant as anything but that.

Ellen doesn't "stick" it to anyone, unless they're truly hateful to gay people (John McCain) and I don't think that anybody has the right to say that she was doing that here.

Katy Perry is great. Like jordan-writes said above, the more you learn about her the more you like her. She is a very beautiful and pro-gay woman.

I wish everyone would just lay off Katy Perry, because she's not really the issue. Everyone who has a problem with her music should wonder why it became so popular in the first place. Fans make a song a hit by accepting and listening to it, it's not like KP just placed it at first place herself.

I'm gay and I happen to like her music. I've seen her sing live and I now know she can truly sing.

I do have one question though. Does Bridget McManus like Katy Perry? She's always saying that she doesn't like lipsticks, but chapsticks, so I thought that fit perfectly here :)

i love it! i know Katy has a bad rep on lgbt community but damn i like the girl, i've seen her in some short interviews and i like her i-dont-effin-care attitude. she's hot and i'd do her :D

seriously, in my country (mex) girls go wild with the song, and u can have a posibility that something happens during the song with some girl u like

she's not really stupid, she's just acting and being fun, and obviously she didn't forget the lyrics, i mean, it's not possible for any person to forget something u have sang like 10000 times!!

Just for the record,  it's not Katy's song.  Jill Sobule back in the mid 90s wrote "I Kissed a Girl".  Her version was cute, and the music video was funny.   Perry took that and made it vulgar and trashy.
