The "Millionaire Matchmaker" capitalizes on gay and lesbiansWarning: vitriol and bile ahead.. I am convinced that Patti Stanger, the subject of Bravo's reality series Millionaire Matchmaker, has never watched the news in her lifetime. Stanger matches high net worth clients who suffer from severe cases of Peter Pan syndrome with potential mates, and the outdated and just plain "WTF?!" tripe that comes out of her mouth, especially the nonsense she spews about gender roles and the LGBT community, seems to indicate that she missed the latter half of the 20th century and the first nine years of the new millennium.
I remember one episode in March in which she essentially told one of her clients, an ex-NFL player named Hatch, that strong, capable women were not dating material. Hatch, bless his heart, rolled his eyes and proudly stood up for the women of the world who actually listened to their mothers and did not hide their intelligence, strength or ambition. Of course, Sanger continued to press the topic and told him, "You don't want a girl that can do everything. She will be raising a son and not a husband!" Excuse me? If so, Barack Obama would be riding a tricycle and playing with Legos under the supervision of Michelle Obama, and clearly, he is not. My roommates and I watched Sanger's rant against Hatch in horror, and my roommates both concluded that they wanted to marry Hatch and throw Sanger into the Sarlacc Pit. Is the hair standing up on your neck yet? Wait until you hear Sanger's comments about the LGBT community. In one episode on February, she told a client, "You do not want a bisexual woman as the mother of your children because, she could leave you for another woman!" Actually, I'm hoping that Sanger never becomes a mother, because she could poison her children's minds with this asinine tripe. And who can forget the video featured in Dorothy Snarker's post ""Millionaire Matchmaker not a match made in heaven when it comes to gays and lesbians"? In that video, Sanger matter-of-factly states that all lesbians U-Haul, that the only famous lesbians in the world are Ellen DeGeneres, k.d. lang and Melissa Etheridge, and that there was a massive epidemic of women leaving their husbands for women. But the most absurd thing she says in the video is directed at gay men: If you are a gay man, you're still susceptible to oxytocin bonding, because you have a lot more estrogen in your body than a straight man does, OK? There's not a lot of testosterone there. So the truth of the matter is you can get emotionally bonded, same as a straight female. You gotta be careful. So when Bravo's preview revealed that Sanger would traipse into the realm of matching gays and lesbians on her show, and that a gay client would be featured in the season finale this week, the only thing I could do was cover my eyes and scream, "Why?!" (But I'm going to watch anyway, because I don't have any taste.) Here's a preview: I won't torture you with all of the inane Patti-isms in that clip. However, the following exchange has convinced me that Patti's staff should be in charge of same-sex matchmaking and Patti should never speak about gay people ever again — or at all, for that matter.
Patti then goes on to say, "My rules of the club are that you don't sleep with anyone unless you're in a monogamous, committed relationship. I'm a little worried that the gays will not listen to me, because it's not just one testosterone [sic]. It's two!" Wait a minute: Are "the gays" full of estrogen like straight females and lack testosterone? Or is there too much testosterone? I'm so confused, Doctor Patti. So what has inspired Patti to become a friend of "the gays"? See her comment at 0:53 in the clip: "It is very important for us to expand our market to bring the gay millionaire men and women into the club."
Yep, that's what I thought. |

She sucks. I really don't
oh wow. methinks she
oh wow. methinks she won't be on another season after this crap. but i wonder will her client base dry up as people see what an idiot she is. i caught a few moments of one episode and a female client was telling patti that she never learned how to speak apporopriately to people. basicly the client felt like patti wasn't listening to her or respecting her.
sheesh. can't see myself ever wanting to visit this woman. and did she REALLY say that about bisexual women? damn.

~I am bisexual. You are confused.~
Ohhhh.. the part..
ew, gross
Oh another thing..
That picture of her with that spastic expression with the speech bubble saying, "I looove the gays!" I thought surely that was just a joke.. until I saw the video.. its real! She really did make that face and say, "I looove the gays!" haha.... great job!
But you know, the ignorance and all that sucks, but the overall thing, I mean, it is important to include 'the gays' right? Even on trashy matchmaker shows?
Ok she is an idiot....But
You have to watch her show with the proper mindset, I love the stuff that comes out of her mouth, a comedian could do a whole show based on her comments. My favorite this season...."Vaginas are fun to play with" Patti said one intelligent thing this season...
She's so frikkin
She's so frikkin dumb...
I am embarrassed to admit that I have watched the show several times...it's like a car wreck...just to damn hard to look away. I do always feel dumber though after watching.
I actually cringed while listening to her and the etiquette coach talk about gender roles...I wanted to reach through the TV and punch her.
While she is entertaining (in the "oh man, what an idiot/did that really come out of her mouth?" way), she is ridiculous, ignorant and just plain uneducated and hopefully Bravo will realize that when considering a renewal.
Wow
I have no tolerance for
I have no tolerance for her. That show is pitiful. What has the world come to? Some cheap trick!
So glad someone pointed this out
"the gays"
the gays?! seriously?! wtf mate?
2009 is the year woman take 2000 steps backwards.
Unfortunately I have seen her on several shows and she makes me want to either rip my cable out and never watch TV again, or cry over humanity. She promotes ridiculous stereotypes about woman and dating that I naively had hoped were a thing of the past...and pushed them back into the present. She was giving woman advice on Tyra about how you can not have you're hair short cause men want woman with long flowing hair and all this nonsense. After everything the LGBT community has been through in general, and then with Prop 8 she is the last person we need reinforcing stereotypes! It's no wonder with all these reality shows, especially hers that in a woman's study survey over 50 percent of woman said "Yes" to the question "would you like to end woman's suffrage" it's like this generation has never heard of feminism.
Too true!
"it's like this generation has never heard of feminism"
No, they've heard of feminism, they've just been taught that feminism is an evil, evil cult that whines about stupid things, hates men, and thinks women who work in the home should be executed. I'm a college student, and I got to a very liberal school in DC, but even here I hear my friends (even the female ones) say the most horrible things about feminists and I just have to keep reminding them "Hey, guys, I'm a feminist!" They claim feminists believe in all of these radical things, but when I ask them to name one woman they have ever heard of supporting those beliefs, they can't name one. I can't belive that all these young girls are now turnign their back on a movement that has given them so many opportunities in their lives. THEY PROBABLY WOULDNT EVEN BE AT THIS SCHOOL IF IT HADNT BEEN FOR THOSE 'SCARY' FEMINISTS!!! Sorry, you can tell it drives me pretty crazy, and these are my really close friends I'm talking about.
I also took a class on Women in Politics and we talked about "Postfeminism" -- which is this ludicrous idea that so many young women hold today that sexism is basically gone in our society, so any time they are held back or unsuccesful or are treated unfairly, they don't blame society or an oppressive system, they consider it some special case or something that must be wrong with them. They turn what should be political into something personal. The future of feminism is seriously looking bleak.
Shopping for a Soul Mate
I like this show because I like to make fun of Hets. Womyn with low self-esteem and no self-respect making themselves over to be attractive to mediocre-looking, shallow males. Narcissistic millionaires picking a mate from a herd like I select desserts at a bakery. Besides being entertaining, I think it really shows the hets at their worst and offers an opportunity for them to see the idiotic error of their ways.
As for Patti, she's a successful, powerful, out-spoken, strong-willed womon who doesnt follow her own gender role. So really she's just giving the world what it wants. Most het men need those roles and most het womyn comply. Dont kid yourselves...we are not that evolved. I do wish she'd leave Homos out of it.
But hey, he came to her, right?

I personally don't trust
any match maker that hasn't successfully matched him/herself. Why is she 40-something and still not married 2 her boyfriend of over 4 years?
If you don't like gay marriage, blame straight people...they're the ones who keep having gay babies
Don't take her show too seriously
I watch her show for the laughs. It gets a bit obnoxious when she starts screaming her patti-isms at her clients.

Stanger.
To enjoy Stanger you have to view her as satire... Satire wrapped in hate.
Seriously. I just imagine, like I do with Housewives of varied places, that she's a drag queen. A big beautiful drag queen in charecter... and there's really a penis under those horrid flabby thighs.
That's the only excuse? Right. Otherwise how is this human walking around like the world is ok when she is clearly part of the problem of brainwashing. http://themenstruator.podOmatic.com
Never have I been more glad
Never have I been more glad to not be able to view a video clip due to being outside of the U.S. Somehow, I feel like I just dodged a bullet.
