Rachel Melvin to play a possible love interest for Claire on "Heroes"Remember Heroes, that extraordinary show showcasing the lives of extraordinary humans that quickly turned into a mediocre show full of extraodinarily baffling non-sequiturs? Well, here's the latest spoiler from the beleaguered series. Apparently, Claire (Hayden Panettiere) may become involved in a lesbian storyline in the new season, as IGN reports:
So will The Cheerleader come out in a sea of glitter and rainbows, finally tell her amoral horned-rimmed adoptive dad to "shove it" and run off in sapphic ecstasy with Annie, where they will fight crime together like a female version of Batman and Robin, the original homoerotic partners in crime? That scenario is about as likely as Beth Ditto and Katy Perry marrying in Iowa. First, lasting lesbian relationships in the media are about as common as golden unicorns. Strike one! Furthermore, Heroes is known for its schizophrenic plotlines and characters that appear and disappear within two or three episodes. (Remember Angela Petrelli's crazy girl-woman hermit sister, who appeared with no warning during the end of the last season and exited just as quickly and perplexingly as she arrived? Oh wait — of course not, because I'm the only one still who watches this show.)
Should Claire's anticipated same-sex romance come into fruition, Annie will most likely get turned into a smoldering pile of carbon for no reason at all, or it will be revealed that she is actually a villain whose mission is to neutralize Claire. Strike two. Finally, what is a common last ditch plot instrument that producers like to reach for when a show is showing signs of becoming terminally ill? A pivotal character having a lesbian fling of course! (See, for example, Marissa and Alex in The OC.) Strike three!
So Claire will probably make out with Annie, and everything will be hunky dory for an episode or two, and then Annie will die — or turn into the reincarnation of Medusa and try to turn Claire into stone. Well, hopefully Claire and Annie will have a hot makeout session or two. Or three. Tim Kring can at least give us that. Submitted by on June 9, 2009 - 1:00pm. |

haha
This is why I don't watch straight show that try to sell us their lesbian relationship plot, all a waste of time. I'd rather watch L Word, a movie or porn to be honest. If a gay plot features on a show I'm already watching I usually wonder will this plot annoy me enough to stop watching or just annoy me enough to write an nasty letter to producers/complain for weeks on message board?
Luckly, I got bored of Heroes after the first season.
Might watch....
Daphne?
Oh wow
I LOVE Rachel Melvin! She was my absolute favorite character on Days and when her character started airing less and less then not at all, I stopped watching the show after three years. It would be lovely and a definite fulfilled fantasy for me to see her making out with another hott girl haha. Let's see it! Don't care how long it lasts so long as I have the memory of seeing such an amazing thing =P.
When she was on days
But...
But she's a cheerleader!
this comment = epic win

Oh Trixie - wouldn't it be wonderful flying above the clouds, shooting stars out of our matching vaginas.
Agreed!
So awesome! LMAO!

Salma
You're kidding, "Heroes" is
HEROES
lol to lisa's post
i think someone should definitely send the producers (or at least claire - don't know the actress' name) a copy of that DVD...
and i also agree that, were this storyline to happen, i might actually start watching heroes again... sad to think that i would be supporting this way of bumping up ratings but... claire and rachel melvin making out??
speaking of...
the oc - that was the one time the whole lesbian thing was actually dealt with pretty well. at least until they actually got together, and alex went batshit crazy and everything turned predictable [ie awful]. sighhh

I dont remember if she said this......
Chelsea on Days
Melvin played Chelsea on Days, whose previous incarnation was the girl (whose name escapes me! embarassing) who played Ashley on South of Nowhere... a trend, perhaps? :P
Chelsea
you never know...
if any of you are wondering....
YES! Rachel needs to get
YES!
Rachel needs to get out of Days of Our Lives...now.
Haha! I had to watch that show an entire summer, because that's the only channel my work would get, haha! So, I was hooked on her. Very, very sad. So, I started really liking her. Oh, and she's from AZ...and I think she went to ASU too. Hehe.
And...YAY! Maybe I'll actually watch "Heroes" now.
I think i may be one of the
oh snap
Haha, I watch Heroes. And
Haha, I watch Heroes. And Claire is one of my fav character
and she's so damn hot too.I would love to see her with another girl :D But I agree with the comments above, there are a lot more likely characters that could turn out to be lesbian.I just have to ask; what happened to the "copy-cat"-girl?
"It's a big rock. I can't wait to tell my friends. They don't have a rock this big."
I'm not sure who you mean
Sex-changer?
Yay for cattiness...
So what's the deal with Hayden Panettiere? Do you ladies think she's hot? I just don't get it. Everytime I see her all I can think of is her portrayal of Sheryl from Remember the Titans. She was such a precocious little shit I think it ruined her for me.
Me personaly
E-claire
in episode 3.7, eris quod sum, there's a scene. while on the airplane, elle's electricity goes crazy and claire willingly absorbs the currents, resulting in one of the hottest scenes in heroes.
...then they go join the mile high club. lolz.
elle/claire
omg i LOVED that scene lol and if i'm being honest, i was rooting for them. evil vs good is always great to watch in my opinion.
but hey, if they want to make claire a lesbian, even for a brief amount of time...i'd watch heroes again.
got boerd of it after season 1
i hate heroes...
Sorry to disappoint...
They are leading us on. I think the (maybe more) isn't going to be so much a bed that they share as it is a family! lol.
While...
I congratulate the DOOL actress on her new gig; and glad to see Claire actually interact with someone her own age on the show; once more...I sincerely doubt that this is anything more than simple rumour. After all, they supposedly were gonna have that lesbian cheerleader character in Season Two...And, that was a bust. So, again...Doubtful...
Oh, 411; I completely resent the Malex remark...That was insulting; not to mention hurtful...Some of us still ache over that particular 'ship loss, thank you very much!
We Will Never Forget You Spashley...
Yeah, but season 2 was
Yeah, but season 2 was supposed to be much longer too, but because of the writers strike or something they had to cut it. I think that's why the gay cheerleader never turned up. (think April was her name)
"It's a big rock. I can't wait to tell my friends. They don't have a rock this big."
Oh Heroes...
I gave up this show earlier this season...it got a little too weird (even for heroes)...I thought a lot of the story lines were contrived and lame...but if this story line actually happens and isn't just some ploy to get more ratings I might end up watching it.
"There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart. Pursue these." ~Michael Nolan <3
I'll believe it when I see it.
And I don't think we'll see it.
But fingers crossed.
Hmm
I stopped watching this show, but the possibility of a lesbian relationship makes me want to tune in just to see if it's true. Which only makes it seem even more like a ratings ploy.
I think Hayden would play one well, though! I mean come on, girl's and avid surfer and frequently participates in (mostly whale and dolphin related) protests like this http://www.ecorazzi.com/tag/hayden-panettiere/page/2/ I hope that if they do decide to give her character some curiosity, it doesn't stop there.
Today's DOOL
I wanted to quit
I really was ready for a messy break up with Heroes this season but something told me to stick around and it had SH*T to do with Claire. I think I suffer from that rare TV watcher disorder where you just accept it as it comes because it is based in the viewers belief and love of comics (which is fine because I have been diagnosed with Comicbook addiction) so I just let Heroes do whatever it wanted with me and I was happier for it because the last batch of episodes for this chapter redeemed themselves ASAP (mostly because Tim came back, entirely because they're stopping with the blatent X-Men mutant registration act shinanigans and straight up stealing from the Mystique as a senator line instead, classy classy stuff) and going for more stories involving Mutant Powers and You. I don't think the whole 'lesbian storyline' thing is going to make alot of believers out of current viewers because there are TONS of slashy stuff with Elle and Claire (which as a ff slut, I approve of) there are tons of reasons why they may be going in this direction but as luck would have it, comics/sci fi shows aren't really about how much sexy you can put in them at one time; they're about how much better it would be if we all had powers. That being said, if they do they do it, if they don't they dont...I hope it atleast urges people to check out the show for the sake of seeing one of the last scripted shows on networks because at the rate networks are going, they are going to be extinct.
and to the comment about But I'm a Cheerleader....Clea DuVall was an agent on Heroes in season 1. Excellent. I'll stop lulzing now

schizophrenic?
Claire & Elle
Hayden & Kristen on Heroes Behind the Scenes 1
Hayden & Kristen on Heroes Behind the Scenes 2
Claire & Elle hooking up will forever be my Heroes Sapphic Fantasy. I wish they didn't off Elle. I wish they'd create a character than can bring a puddle of carbon back to life.
I think this sapphic experiment is just a ratings booster. That's what mostly same-sex short plots are for nowadays. Pffft. But I'd still wanna see Claire hooking up with a girl coz dang she just spikes up my gaydar!
