Marge Simpson kisses a woman

Everybody is doing it. Mischa Barton. Katy Perry. And now faux-lesbian kissing has made its way onto The Simpsons. Last Sunday, Simpsons matriarch Marge Simpson locked lips with her friend Lindsay Neagle in “How The Test Was Won.”

Ned Flanders will be relieved to know that the kiss never happened and was only a figment of Homer Simpson’s imagination. In 2005, Marge’s sister Patty Bouvier came out of the closet, and in stereotypical form, was about to U-Haul with a professional golfer named Veronica. (Tragically, however, Veronica was revealed to be a man who dressed in drag to get into the LGPA.)

The next lesbian kiss on The Simpsons? I’ll call it for the brainy Lisa Simpson; if not on the show, definitely when she goes to college. Check out this clip from “I’m Spelling As Fast As I Can” from 2003, where the Seven Sisters colleges (as they existed in the 1950s) attempt to convince Lisa Simpson to take a full scholarship to the Seven Sisters college of her choice in exchange for throwing a spelling bee.

There was also the recent Heavenly Creatures-esque episode featuring Emily Blunt. The Simpsons writers are really going in a new Sapphic direction. Is there a lesbian writer on staff?

    Uh ...

Is there a lesbian writer on staff?

If referring primarily to Marge and Lindsay, who were just a figment of some horny straight dude's imagination ... probably not?

Indeed, you yourself describe it as 'faux-lesbian' - which has very little, if anything at all, to do with the real thing.

    OMG

The Simpsons' quality has just DETERIORATED over the years.  I remember the last good episode I watched was in '04!  What IS this?  Where's the cheesy, feel-good stories (Homer's Odyssey) or the right-on satires (Blame it on Lisa, E-I-E-I-Annoyed Grunt), etc... you know... THE GOOD EPISODES!  I didn't think The Simpsons would get this desperate... OMG.  Retire it already, Matt Groening.  Let us old fans keep good memories of this once-beloved show!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

    You have right, let the

You have right, let the Simpsons rest, together with the Futurama (the movies are bad)

    girl......

PLEASE don't get me started on The Simpsons movie.  Ugh.

Maybe we should rotate an online petition asking Groening to just stop being a sell-out!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

    Hehe

I was wondering how long it would take someone to mention this. It was pretty awesome, especially the look before the kiss :D

    I was wondering why this

I was wondering why this hadn't been posted about yet. Just your typical male fantasy lesbian kiss, but still pretty hot.

I Haven't Watched The Simpsons In Ages

I can't believe this is what they can come up with for Marge. I'm kinda torn. I thought the "pseudo-Lesbian", my term for it, kiss was pretty interesting. I'm with you Grace, I thought Lisa would have found Lesbianville by now, married the girl of her dreams and lived happily ever after and fighting for LGBTQI rights around the country. Seriously, I actually picture her doing that for numer of years while watching the Simpsons just waiting for her to "come out"...I'm still waiting.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME A PM ABOUT MEETING WOMYN ON ANOTHER SITE. I'M NOT INTO THE DATING SITE ADVERTISMENT. GREATLY APPRECIATED!

    Hahahaha! My gay male

Hahahaha! My gay male flatmate told me about it before Afterellen!

And what can we expect from Homer's ''mind''?... Just another straight male stereotype...

And I would like Lisa to be a lebian too. She has everything requested! lol

    the delay

sorry everyone. knew about this a few days ago but unfortunately caught the flu and couldn't lift my head up to post about it. hence, the delay. but i stand by my prediction of lisa's predilections. ;)

    hmmm...

this is off topic but about 2 weeks ago Family Guy went politically gay...I forgot the dog's name...his brother is gay and is about to marry his bf but a day before their marriage it was banned. i live in Asia so this might be old news, i haven't seen anyone blogged about it (ok, i'm too lazy to look for it) anyway i'm starting to like Family Guy than Simpsons. I used to love Homer but now he's just ugh!

Oh, for the love of God,

Oh, for the love of God, can FOX please just cancel The Simpsons already? It stopped being funny halfway through season 10. The series is stale and the characters have been turned into completely different people. A stunt like this just proves how much the series as changed. Homer was never a man to indulge in stereotypical fantasies. His obsession was doughnuts for heaven's sake!

I will always love the early seasons of Simpsons, but this series jumped the shark long ago and needs to get off TV before they continue to embarrass themselves more.

God, I miss the old Simpsons!

    Aaah, I knew it.

I saw the subject for this post and it was like "Marge Simpson Kisses a Woman" and I knew automatically it wasn't "real". Geez.... Marge is so straight! Why didnt they just say "Santa's Little Helper kisses another male dog".

I havent even watched this show in forever.. I think I stopped watching just in time though, it seems like they're just desperately looking for new ideas.

    gross

i don't want to see yellow cartoon people making out.

oh wait, i hope wasn't supposed to say "yey" for visibility.

at this point, i'm actually tired of the overexposure, especially with the faux lesbianism/male fantasies aspect of it.

    Think unsexy thoughts,

Think unsexy thoughts, Chubes, think unsexy thoughts! ;)

The only time I actually found Marge kinda hot was.. when she was a cop for one episode. She should wear a pony tail and uniform more often instead of that blue cactus and green sack.

But seriously.. Simpsons should have been put to sleep 9 years ago. And this is not visibility, this is another insult.

    Jeez...

    People whine entirely too much.

Seriously, if you don't like The Simpsons here's a radical thought: Don't watch it. That's what I do when I don't like a show.

As a huge Simpsons fan, I

As a huge Simpsons fan, I have to stick up for it and say that, yes, it probably should have been cancelled looong ago, but it still has some great moments. Also, I think it has more gay characters than any other show on TV, except maybe The L Word.

I also wanted to point out, in case anyone reads this, that the video posted is totally "remastered" version of the kiss. The real one only lasts a second. This one is kind of gross in how it goes on and on. People who haven't seen the episode may be getting the wrong impression.

    Avid Simpson's Fan

"I’m Spelling As Fast As I Can" was in the 14th Season not the 3. And the Simpsons have had gay kisses before. A gay man kissed Homer in an episode and he pondered to himself if Marge's kiss later that nite was the best. In the coming out episode of Patty, Homer imagines him kissing himself.

frak! note to self: don't post on cold meds. yes, i meant to type "2003" not "season 3" - fixed now.
