Claire will "engage in sapphic experimentation" with her new roomie on "Heroes"Last month, IGN reported Heroes will feature a storyline in which Claire (played byHayden Panettiere) and a new character named Annie (Rachel Melvin, formerly of Days of Our Lives) will "share sleeping quarters (and maybe more)." Conceivably, the "maybe more" could have been a guy whose secret power is being a lothario, but of course, both IGN and I took the ball and ran with it, concluding that Claire and Annie will be involved in a lesbian affair.
Yesterday, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello confirmed that yes, Claire and her college roommate will at least, you know, make out and stuff. Ausiello writes:
Panettiere had this to say about the same-sex plotline: I love my job and I love where I am. Heroes has been such a massive part of my life. I've been doing it for four years, and at times you get restless; I think anyone would in any job. But I love what I do. I love my job. I love my cast members. They're all my family. I don't pay attention to rumors like that. That's why they're called rumors. 'Cause they're rumors.
Hmm. Let's recap: rumors are rumors, 'cause they're rumors. Uncomfortable silence. Conclusion: Claire is definitely going gay this season. I don't know about you, but I recall some foreshadowing about Claire's proclivities. Remember that scene in the last season where Elle and Claire boarded a plane to Pinehearst, and Elle flipped out and started to shoot lightning bolts everywhere, which caused the plane to spin out of control? Claire grabbed Elle's hand and absorbed her energy, which stabilized the plane — and Elle. Take a look at this screenshot. Don't you think they look a little too happy?
Oh, our little Claire likes the crazy ones. Well, don't we all? However, don't expect Claire's fling with her roommate to last — this is Heroes after all. Claire's peculiar status as determinant-of-the-future-of-humankind will cause her to remain the main target of those who want to use her power — for good, the bad and the really really ridiculously bad — which will most likely send her on the run, yet again. So will Claire ever find true love? Or will she be forced to be on the lam forever — or until NBC cancels the series? Submitted by on July 7, 2009 - 3:00pm. |

This i gotta watch ;)
Roommates and Experimentation
What's with roommates always experimenting with each other? But, in any case, I might tune in to see it, haha.

don't know..
happy to find out i was not paranoid when i thought something was going on between claire and elle.. at least i'm not the only one.
don't have too much expectations about this romance though, it's Heroes after all.
Wooooo.....
Saphhic Heroes
There definitely was something subtexted going on between Elle and Claire. Although I never cared much about the cheerleader, I used to wish that they would let these two have a lesbian storyline. It was Kristen Bell, damn, and they had the chemistry.
Now with Elle conveniently murdered by Sylar (I'm still mad at him for it) that fantasy isn't coming to fruition. And now we will have to make do with this? Man, it's gonna be hard.
BTW, does anyone else remember the time when Hiro and Ando travelled to India to recover Hiro's power. There they prevented this woman from getting married to a man against her will. She co-owned a bakery with her best friend (female). Was it just me or was there something sapphic going on between those two? They exchanged such gazes and when the woman tells her father that she doesn't want to get married to the man, she says, "Maybe a traditional marriage is not what I am looking for," and looks and smiles at her best friend.

I totally picked up on that
I totally picked up on that during that episode, too. I was wondering if it wasn't just my imagination, or overactive femmeslash-goggles, but I guess not since I wasn't the only one who thought something was being suggested there, at least.
As for this whole Claire and Annie thing, I'm all for it, even if it's just in a short lived experimental way. I'm not exactly expecting it to go anywhere - I mean, heck, it's not like Claire's boyfriend track record is too strong, anyways. Just please, please, please, please, Tim Kring, I beg of you, don't make Annie out to be some sort of manipulative, exploitative, evil character. That's not exactly the kind of representation we need more of.
P.S. I'm still holding out hope that Elle returns by some sort of time-traveling, alternative time-line thing that Heroes is known for. I know, impossible, but she was awesome and killed in the most idiotic and ill-justified of manners.
Yeah def. some good
Yeah def. some good subtexted scenes between Elle/Claire, every one of their scenes had more chemistry than with any other potential pairings I've seen on Heroes. I really loved Elle's character, I miss her.
I also remember that scene that you're talking about, that's how I interpreted the scene actually. They looked like they loved eachother but forced to marry a man cos of their culture-whatever stuff.
So long as you don't expect anything...
It's bad enough when the rumors say so-and-so is going to have a gay relationship - it usually ends like the OC - but they aren't even going that far, they are just going to make out, probably for a boy.
Just don't get all excited and then upset when it's quickly forgotten and Claire goes and sleeps with men forever after.
Also, let's not reward them - they are clearly going for sweeps lesbianism, let's not let them jerk us around like that. I won't be watching, because I don't watch Heros. Okay, if it's hot, I'll youtube their scene later. =)
Elle and Claire
I was just reading a great Elle/Claire fanfic about that episode when they had to hold hands. Like, come on! when I watched that I was just waiting for them to kiss... they had some chemistry going on there! Too bad it's Heroes.
I guess I'll be turning in just to watch this "relationship". I bet that Annie will turn out to be a new reencarnation of Sylar, or Ted, or Isaac or someone, in the body of a girl... or something.

Ha ha Claire goes to college
Ha ha Claire goes to college and makes out with her roommate. I thought you were getting better Heroes esp from the downward with your recent writing! It'll be different if she would maybe have an actual relationship with her, but the chances of that are like .001%.
I do like Claire not so much a fan of Hayden though.
I'm already a Heroes fan so
i stopped watching heroes
i stopped watching heroes last season cause it got too weird for me to follow, but i'll watch hayden kiss a girl any day. i love her. i wouldn't expect it to turn into anything other than a few episode arc (if even that much), but most relationships don't last on this show so it's not really out of the ordinary.
Me too...NEED A SUMMARY and a FLOW CHART at this point...
It's all I can do not to get LOST watching LOST. I totally needed my own personal HERO to keep me on track with Heros. So, as much as I love Kristen Bell, I couldn't manage to stay tuned. But maybe I'll take another peek this year. Does anyone have an idea where to get a semi-logical explanation of what's going on...to catch up?
Awe, just when I tought I
Ya Maybe
But I dont think its that big of a deal if you ask me. If she wants to "Experiement" with her roomate thats her decision..and ya,doesnt really matter. If something more happens that it happens. I think what ever it will be cool. ^_^
Hayden P in sapphic experimentation - art does imitates life
Just what I said.
<3 Claire
I am so excited!! I cant wait to see claire get it on with another chic! Yes!! Oh and I totally got the vibe from the Elle and Claire scene on the plane! I loved them together!!
--------------
"...loving someone makes you feel that you can say 'I love you' knowing that they might not say it back..."
Yeah...
I'd wager that the roomie is either a gender-switcher or a black widowish lifesucker.
omg i love hayden!
if claire goes dark in the hair department
like she was in the flash forward in the last season AND gets some lesbian love happening....then i might be tempted to wade through another season of heroes. yes i am that shallow. the writing just got so shit that it was almost a chore to watch my skyplussed episodes.
i definitely noticed the connection between claire and elle. glad it wasn't just me.
the other thing that has put me off so much is that i think tim kring has something against women. do you notice how ALL the girls get killed off? the only one that survives is claire, and that's only because she CAN'T die. wtf is that all about?
YaY! :)
Hmm
that quote from Hayden
that quote from Hayden Panettiere is actually about her rumored possible exit from the show and not about the gay storyline (which is probably the reason why it's not mentioned in that quote at all ;) ).
