Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock share a kiss and an award

Amidst the snooze-fest that were VH1’s Critics’ Choice Awards this past Friday, Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock spiced things up when they, after tying for Best Actress for Julie & Julia and The Blind Side, respectively, mock-fought and resolved by spontaneously smooching onstage.

Sandra Bullock, after exclaiming, “This is bull---t” for having to share her award, approached Meryl Streep with a wide-open mouth and forced her lips onto Meryl’s. It’s unclear whether Bullock was going in for a make out with Streep or trying to devour her face, but it is clear that the two leading ladies looked like they enjoyed it. Bullock even closed her silly acceptance speech with “I don’t know what to say, but Meryl’s a good kisser!” I’ll bet she is.

Other winners included Mo’Nique for Best Supporting Actress in Precious and director Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker.

Though the rest of the night was quite tame, comedienne Sarah Silverman and out singer Adam Lambert’s gay-friendly introduction for Best Comedy was hilarious. Silverman lamented that she was sick of people defining her solely by her attraction to the opposite sex, when there is so much more to her than her love for “scissoring with dudes.” Hats off to Miss Silverman for poking fun at America’s obsession with celebrities’ queerness, namely Lambert’s at the moment.

The show was basically a pep rally of sorts — led by head cheerleader Kristin Chenoweth — for the Golden Globes. Did you catch any of the buzz around the Meryl/Sandra kiss? Was it hotter than the 2003 MTV VMA Madonna/Britney kiss?

that's funny, I thought the exact same thing.. I think Sandra was hoping Meryl would slip her some tongue.. it's the only conclusion i can fathom aside from face eating.

She's not exactly a stranger to it...Haven't you seen 'Angels in America'? Emma Thompson Kissed her in that one.

I wish I was Meryl in both cases. I have a 'thing' for both Emma and Sandy... They're just so cool xD

Meryl played a lesbian in The Hours, so she couldn't possibly be afraid of being kissed by Sandra (seriously, who would?! lol)

Though I can say, just by looking at the pictures, that Meryl wasn't very comfortable, or at least it was totally unexpected. Hmm...as I'm writing this, I'm thinking: Meryl is a wonderful actress, so she could be "acting" when she was being kissed. U know, acting surprised and all that.

 

Anyway...I love Meryl (she's one of my favourite actors, along with Marlee Matlin).

it kinda looked like sandra took meryl by surprise lol, i dont think she was in on it till it was happening, and sarah silverman was funny aswell

The kiss was cute.

In spite of the fact that Sarah Silverman sometimes has an odd track record with jokes (I'm glad she doesn't seem to make rape jokes anymore), I believe she made her point very well.

But that kiss just doesn't look right. I love both ladies but ewwwwwww. Not who I want to see making out. They don't fit one another. Now Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman me likey. Or perhaps Meryl and... well I'm not sure who I'd like to see her make out with. I feel dirty when I think about Meryl in a sexual way. She's such a classy dame. I'm guilt stricken when I try to objectify her.

Meryl streep is my favourite actress in the whole wide world (excluding Marian of course).

Yeah that kiss was a bit peculiar. .. I am slightly scared of Sandra now!

50 million percent hotter than Madonna and Britney!

Also, people must not know that Meryl kisses anyone and everyone she meets on the lips. The only reason she wasn't all into it with Sandra is because she didn't know it was coming until after it had already happened, otherwise we would have had a full out make-out session on our hands.
