The real Allison DuBois gets a show on Sci Fi

I’ve been a huge fan of Medium since it premiered in 2005. I’m a sucker for all things paranormal and so this show was right up my alley. Plus, it stars the lovely Patricia Arquette in the role of world-renowned medium Allison DuBois, and what could be better? OK, a few things spring to mind, but regardless, I was happy to learn that the real Allison DuBois is getting her own TV series on Sci Fi.

The show (with the working title Soul Evidence) will follow DuBois and a team of psychics as they work together to solve real-life crimes. Specific details about the series are slim-to-none at the moment, though I’ll be interested to see how they work to make the show different from the slew of other psychic crime solving reality shows out there. We already have Psychic Detectives, Psychic Witness and Psychic Investigators (just to name a few), so it remains unclear what Soul Evidence will bring to the genre. (I suppose casting a well-known medium is always a good start, as well as veering away from the use of psychic in the title.)

In any case, the popularity of NBC’s Medium is sure to help the new show along, at least initially, but it remains to be seen whether the real Allison DuBois can hold the public’s interest quite as well as her fictional self does.

Will you be tuning in to Soul Evidence when it premiers or are you over the whole psychic crime-solving idea? And what do you think they could do to make this show stand out from the rest?

    I love 'Medium' so will probably give this Soul Evidence a try.  Medium deals a lot with the family aspect of 'Allison's' life, so the new one sounds like it would be more of the detail in the crime solving.

    "Medium" is my favorite show on tv...sure Patricia Arquette rocks and I'm a fan of her work...and true Mediums are amazing...but Allison Dubois is the real reason behind my love for the show. Besides using her gifts for good, helping save lives and bring clarity to confused and suffering persons...Allison brings compassion to the world, helps us understand, brings peace of mind, love and enlightens us with a sincere gift that gratefully many of us have evolved into appreciating...rather than fearing.

    To me, Allison Dubois is lovely in every way and I look forward to anything more that she shares with us.

    oh yeah could it get any better then to have allison  dubois sharing with us how she works cases, love all things dealing with the paranormal, its simply fasinating.

    I'm not quite sure about this. A reality show? Really? What is this obsession with reality shows? I always liked Medium, Allison's whacky dreams and visions are a semiotic treat (evene though I was never all that fond of the dependency on the husband and ocasional heteronormartivity hitting you over your head with a giant hammer). But a reality show? Really?

    While I wish Scifi was adding another original show instead of another "reality" show, at least this show will star a female lead.

    like maybe a cold case from 20 years ago before they had DNA testing.  If the real Allison DuBois can do that, I'll be impressed.

    Yep, count me in as a 'Medium' fan and one who will watch the new reality show. I'm curious to see how DuBois performs in the real world. The fictional show I watch because it's got snappy enough writing to keep me engaged, plus I love Patricia Arquette. She's not the sprinkles on a cupcake, she's the cupcake.

    hooray!  this will be amazing.  of all the psychics/mediums on tv, she is by far one of the most well-respected.  move over chip coffey, put away those fleece earbuds!   here comes the real deal.  i will be sure to tune in.
