Whitney Houston, we have a problem – with you turning down "Glee"Whitney Houston apparently doesn’t believe that children are the future — or at least not the children of Glee. The pop diva has turned down a role as a rival choir director in the upcoming season of the new high school musical comedy. As Whitney herself might say: Oh, hell to the no!
Still her loss is Eve’s (and our) gain. The hip-hop star has stepped in for the singer and will appear in a two episodes arc this fall. I’ve never seen the Barbershop movies, so I can’t comment on Eve’s acting, but she sure struts around impressively in her videos and has a role in the upcoming Ellen Page-Drew Barrymore collaboration Whip It!, so I’m sure she’ll do just great.
Still it’s hard to understand why Whitney wouldn’t wanna dance with somebody (had to do it) in the Glee crew. The show has built incredible buzz since its premiere preview aired in May. Also Whitney has a new album coming out Sept. 1, her first in seven years, and the new season starts Sept. 16. So you would think the two would go jazz-hand in jazz-hand together.
Though, I guess that’s what you get for expecting rationality from a woman who married Bobby Brown and then invited camera crews to film the train wreck.
Glee has already amassed an impressive array of guest starts (not including its awesome — hello, Jane Lynch, call me — cast of regular characters). Appearing this fall will be Pushing Daisies alum Kristin Chenoweth, Everwood's Sarah Drew and Broadway hunk Cheyenne Jackson. God, this is shaping up to be the gayest show ever. How fabulous is that?
So, what do you think of Whitney’s spurning of the Gleeks? And how do you think Eve will do showing us her spirit fingers? Submitted by on June 24, 2009 - 6:00pm. |

Not really a fan of Whitney
Not really a fan of Whitney Houston, so I'll just say too bad for her, because Glee sure is aweeesome. I think Eve will do just fine.
Josh Groban will also guest star, by the way! I'm really looking forward to his and Kristin Chenoweth's appearances. :)
Where's the love Whitney?
Chenocakes!
Cheno's going to be in it?! Sweet!
Well, it depends what you mean by friend...
Eve
Oh well
Not too big of a fan of Whitneys anymore. I think Eve will be more suited. She seems to be a bit more sassy too.
and thank you I now have "I wanna dance with somebody" stuck in my head!!
Whitney v. Eve
It's very sad because I used to love Whitney Houston, but at this point I can't say that not seeing her on Glee will be very upsetting. She's just not the same Whitney I grew up listening to. And as for Eve, I think her acting is okay. She's not the best actress but I think she will do a good job.
Dance
I don't know if anyone has ever notice this but Whitney Houston doesn't dance. Whitney is able to sing acceptionally well where people do not notice she doesn't dance. I believe this may be for a good reason. Whitney may be extremely gifted in one area
As an artist I enjoy listening to Whitney more than Eve, but apparently Eve has the completely package in the personality area right now nice figure to match. Whitney should have kept some things private.
Meh
I am not a fan of Whitney so I don't care. Her loss, the show is uber cool and so much fun. My partner and I watched it and it was the most fun we've had watching a tv show ever considering we love musicals and snarky comedy.
Let's see how Eve does!
I Will Always Love...
Whitney...regardless, I will always love her music. I hope for the best for her.
Eve is ok, not really a fan of her or Whitney's acting to be honest.

...
I'm not sure what Glee is.. but if it's on tv I get it.
Whitney is a diva, despite her own personal issues, she is a legend. And in my opinion is above tv shows really. It'd be like asking Madonna or Mariah, it's just not realistic to even expect it. The woman has sold over one-hundred million records. And stared in box office hits... and Cinderella. She's on a different level artistically.
She probably would have done it as a cameo appearance.
Whitney lookin good
Looks Great For Her Age?
How old do you think she is? Good Grief! am I to assume that you are under the impression that when you reach Whitney's age you should be prepared to go on Social Security or even die? Unbelievable.
If she looks good then it could be attributed to her recovery from addiction and NOT her age because she isn't "old".
Where are the moderators? Clearly agism is a subject that needs to be addressed on this site.
GLEE
I try to pretend like the Bobby Brown/drug addicted years didn't happen and revel in my many, many years of LOVING Whitney Houston. I've seen some of her recent performances and she seems to be recapturing her glory years.
I'd love to see her on Glee but I imagine she'd rather appear on American Idol which should be in its final rounds about the time her album is to drop.
I'd love to see Jennifer Hudson take a turn on Glee.

Please
Gleefully Oblivious
What do I think? Well it's really not what one "thinks" that counts, but rather what one "knows".
Given that premise this is what I know: I have yet to even watch that premier episode (despite it being available at the FOX website, or the numerous legal and illegal "watch TV Shows and movies for Free" online sites) that aired months ago and I am at a loss over this alleged "buzz" being generated as anything more than network propaganda.
Despite that, who really knows what Houston's motivations are at this point in her decision making?
Hey I am still wrestling with trying to reconcile Ilene Chaiken's ever deepening madness and delusion concerning the L Word cancellation and The Farm being rejected by Showtime.
I can understand her not
I can understand her not wanting to be on it, that show wasn't very good.
http://lesbiandaily.blogspot.com/ <---Check it out. :]
"I can understand her not wanting to be on it, that show wasn't.
Very good.."
I had a feeling that was the case. I mean there's only been one episode shown and despite the clips I've viewed where Jane Lynch appears to have some great one liners. I become skeptical when AE endlessly gushes over a program cause this site does that a whole lot.
Cheno!
Oh well, boo for Whitney, but more importantly-
KRISTIN CHENOWETH'S IN IT!
Ah. Now if only Pushing Daisies would come back.
I don't get why everyone is
I don't get why everyone is so in love and all over Glee? I watched the pilot and was bored out of my skull almost immediately and wish I could get that lost time back. maybe Whitney watched it and didn't like it either...

Eve
Damn
I didn't realize I was on Glee4Life.com. Why do you care? It's her life, her "career" let her do with it as she pleases. But aside from that, it was a fun read:)
