Watch previews of ABC's new 2009-2010 seriesThe alphabet network unveiled its new fall slate and it’s filled with cougars and witches and aliens, oh my. ABC’s new fall and midseason lineup of scripted shows includes six dramas and four comedies. These freshmen series will join the network’s established hits like Grey’s Anatomy and Lost and returning comedies like Castle and Better Off Ted.
A peek into the slate shows several large ensemble casts and a few big name stars. But are there any hits? Well, let’s take a look. Cougar Town: 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays Courtney Cox returns to comedy in this new series about “a recently divorced single mother exploring the honest truths about dating and aging in our beauty and youth obsessed culture.” Snap Judgment: It’s great to see Courtney back in the funny business after the decidedly unfunny business that was Dirt. Having said that, I totally don’t buy her as an unlucky-in-love cougar; I saw what was under that robe. Flash Forward: 8 p.m. Thursdays A mysterious world-wide event causes all of humanity to black out for two minutes and 17 seconds, during which time they all see a vision of a specific time in their future. The cast include Joseph Fiennes, John Cho and Courtney B. Vance. Snap Judgment: The network wants it to be their next Lost. Already it’s more relatable; I mean, who hasn’t blacked out after a lost weekend with a bottle of tequila? V: (Midseason) A re-imagining of the 1980's miniseries about the world’s first encounter with aliens who call themselves The Visitors. They claim to be friendly, but we’re not so sure. The cast includes Elizabeth Mitchell, Morris Chestnut and Lourdes Benedicto (who played Alicia, the lesbian love interest on Cashmere Mafia.) Snap Judgment: Elizabeth Mitchell, Alien Fighter? Sign. Me. Up. Eastwick: 10 p.m. Wednesdays Three women (Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price and Jamie Ray Newman) are drawn to a new mysterious man in town who just might be a handsome devil. The show is based on the 1987 movie and original novel by John Updike. Snap Judgment: Desperate Housewives + magic = Eastwick? Also, shouldn’t the devil have a better haircut? The Forgotten: 10 p.m. Tuesdays A team of amateurs work to solve missing persons cases after law enforcement has given up. Snap Judgment: So, basically, it’s Without a Trace without badges? Happy Town: (Midseason) The small Minnesota town of Haplin, “Happy Town,” has had almost a decade of peace since a series of unsolved kidnappings rocked the community. But then the town has its first murder after all those years and it’s not so happy anymore. Snap Judgment: Is that Amy Acker? Wait, Amy is on Dollhouse. Hey, Happy chumps, don’t steal Amy away. The Dollhouse needs her. p.s. You’re no Twin Peaks. The Deep End: (Midseason) New lawyers at one of Los Angeles’ most prestigious law firm face the trials (trials, see what I did there?) and tribulations of their first year out of law school. Snap Judgment: Billy Zane? Really, really? Oh, and I liked this show the first time I saw it when it was about doctors and someone was McDreamy. Hank: 8 p.m. Wednesdays Kelsey Grammer has a new show. This time instead of being a fussy psychiatrist or a fussy anchor he is a fussy downsized executive. Snap Judgment: Recession humor? Sure, I mean who can’t relate to having to let their stereotypically-named Latino maid go? The Middle: 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays Patricia Heaton returns to television behind her former co-star Grammer in a new comedy about “raising a family and lowering your expectations” set in Indiana, because it’s the middle of the country and the middle of nowhere. And otherwise the title wouldn’t make sense. Snap Judgment: Ha ha ha! Life is disappointing. I need to go talk to a cheesecake. Modern Family: 9 p.m. Wednesdays Completing ABC’s all family comedy block is this unconventional take on the modern American family. The show follows three families, including a gay couple who have just adopted a baby. Snap Judgment: This one actually might be funny, and I’m not even joking. So, what did you think? Any of the new shows catch your eye? Any of them make you groan, and not in the good way. Discuss. Also check out our previews of the new Fox series and new NBC series. The Deep End
I'm a sucker for anything involving lawyers or remotely law enforcement related...so I'll at least catch a few episodes. Some of these shows look like total crap though...makes me wonder if I could develop a few shows.
Oh...and my dad's name was Hank, so out of pity/funny coincidence, I might watch 5 minutes of it.
The lineup of ABC shows for
Amy Acker
Happy Town
Patricia Heaton
I'm so excited that Patricia Heaton has a new show. I LOVE HER.

So excited for V
Is it me...
Is it me... or does Kelsey Grammer look weird? Like he had a facelift or something. But anywho, his new show looks boring just the same. I'm kinda liking The Middle. There were a couple of things I really liked, although I can't say the show is particularly new and refreshing. But I might give it a try, we'll see. The Modern Family preview was really funny. Although it doesn't give a good idea about the rest of the show, but I like the part I saw. If the rest is as funny as that, I might really like it!
The rest of the shows didn't really seem interesting enough to start watching... I'll first see which one of them is actually good and popular enough to stay around. Yeah, I know I have to watch stuff on tv to keep them on tv, but I don't live in America, so that makes it a little harder.

Happy Town...
I might give Cougar Town a
I might give Cougar Town a shot because it is CCA, but will probably just watch V.
Hank and The Middle sound downright boring TBH. but then I am probably not even in their target watching population *shrugs*
Holy cow
New TV Sucks!
I miss the days of good television. When there were actual characters you could care about. I really want to like Cougartown, but I could never admit to liking a show with that name anyways. I will watch V because I saw the original, which I still remember how the ending of the miniseries shocked me to this day, so I long for moments like that. Happytown has promise with Amy Acker, but it might be one of those "bubble" shows this time next year. I hate to get invested in things, hello TSCC, and then have them cancelled. Oh, Modern Family looks pretty good. I couldn't even watch the previews for Kelsey Grammer's show or the one about Middle America. God help us!
Well
I'll probably check out V and The Forgotten. Not sure about the other ones.
Happy Town is like Twin Peaks without all the awesomess of Twin Peaks.
Bleh @ the last few shows

Who doesn't have a blog these days?
eurOut for the latest recaps of your favourite European lesbian storylinesThere are quite a few...
I'm definitely gonna give The Deep End a shot. Sucker for lawyer stories. Here's hoping it's good at least.
Flash Forward sounded interesting but the trailer didn't really impress me. Anyway, I'm also gonna try that one.
The Forgotten, Eastwick and Modern Family - a bit curious about them. The latter could be interesting having gay dads there.
Where are gay mums, tho? Come on!
+++libraries gave us power+++
Hmm let's see...
I'm gonna take Cougar Town, The Deep End, The Middle and Modern Family FTW!!!!
I'm fucking tired of Kelsey Grammer I honestly just cannot watch anything with him in it.
I think The Middle looks pretty funny and Patricia Heaton never disappoints me, and neither did 'The Janitor' on Scrubs, love that guy, and this role doesn't seem like a big departure from that....
Cougar Town ok....the lady at the bar at the very end of the trailer who was making some type of gesture behind the young guy Courtney was with....her...yeah if that lady is going to be in this show like on a regular basis as a recurring character tune in! I THINK that's the lady that plays Diane on General Hospital she's HILARIOUS and would shine on a show like this!!!
The Deep End, it just looks really interesting. Legal dramas do get me a lot but they're always about people who have it together...and yeah if its like Grey's Anatomy that's fine cause again that was interesting cause I always wondered what it was like for new doctors just trying to figure it all out....so....it works for me.
Modern Family the tiny clip was funny and I'm happy to see a gay couple represented on network TV, always nice. And I forget the red-headed man's name but I LOVE THAT GUY all the time! On EVERYTHING he plays on!

My Snaps
Flash Forward: The premise appeals to me, but the promo as well as the gender imbalance of the cast turned me off. Fiennes' character strikes me as very... 20th century.
V: Alien-invasion sci-fi + Elizabeth Mitchell (with badge!) = YES! (I do worry about the rest of the cast, tho.)
The Forgotten: Will check this out and hope that the "quirky band of misfits" thing they're obviously trying to work doesn't bug.
Side note: Why does ABC have so many midseason replacements?!
Flash Forward
Looks pretty good. The commercials during LOST were intriguing. Speaking of LOST, is that the actress that plays Penny? What's she doing in Flash Forward? Will Penny be missing from LOST next season too?
Oh and V scared the crap out of me as a kid, but if it has Elizabeth Mitchell in it - I'm there!
Sherri Saum!
So underrated. Love her on In Treatment.
OLTL
I love her! I actually know her from One Life To Live, I mean I guess a lot of people don't but I'm an ABC soap junkie so...I DEFINITELY do, I miss her....been YEARS since she left, I've wanted her back since....BUT this will do;-) lol
I'm always happy when my fave soap people find primetime roles ABC soap actors seem to be very lucky with that (Josh Duhmel (sp), Vanessa Marcel, Ignacio Serricchio, Colin Eaglesfield etc.)

Courtney
My picks
Cougar Town - seems to have just the right blend of comedy with a little of self-deprecation (from both the women and the men) thrown in. I love the part when Cox treats the guy a bit like a son. Also bonus points for Busy Phillips, her casting seems dead on...
Happy Town - I get that it's kind of a Twin Peaks rip off, but the trailer got me. Who's the Magic Man and how is the town involved especially the older ladies. Plus a lot of the cast are relatively unknown which is half the fun of new t.v. shows: discovering talent.
V and Flash Forward look okay but the previews only showed the "situation" and I'm into character development so we'll see...
Jesse Tyler Ferguson!!!!
Finally Minnesota!
Amy Acker in a show about my home state (however creepy) is a no brainer!
I'll bet they won't get the accents right though. :)
V
V looks interesting... plus it has Morena Baccarin (inara) from Firefly/Serenity. Always a bonus.
Also - 'law firm face the trials (trials, see what I did there?)' Hahaha. I did indeed.
modern family
Not Gonna Bother
I'm not planning on investing any of my time on any new show ABC puts out, and I've told them that much.
They cancelled Pushing Daisies and Life on Mars. After PD was cancelled we were promised that the shows taking its place would be new and innovating and then those shows were cancelled or they bring in other broadcasting company rejects (Scrubs anyone?). ABC promises big things, they try to reel you in and when they get you they start canceling off shows.
No offense to ABC lovers but Im not gonna do it this season. I'm livid they renewed Scrubs. I use to like that show but it should have died seasons ago and yet ABC keeps it around.
I'm not looking forward to the Goode Family either, a animated show by the people who did King of the Hill and Beavis and Butthead.
I'm disappointed all around by ABC so they've just really turned me off from them.
but hey, to those willing to invest enjoy the new shows....
Modern Family and V, cougat town
Gay couple with baby, YAY.
Elizabeth Mitchell, YAY.
Courtney Cox, funny YA.
My attentions span, not so YaY. But I think I did see Ion Overnamn in one of the new shows, that would be a YAY.
dude
Busy Philipps, Dan Byrd,
TV
Soooo will The Lesbians be the best friends of the gay couple on Modern Family?
Remember when we had our own show? (OK, I'll give you that)
Horrible, OK, and fan-freaking-tastic
I've only seen three of these new shows but i've now seen two episodes of each and here is my verdict:
Hank= Horrible (unfortunately Mr Grammer can't seem to shake Frasier and although that show was great it just seems sad that he can't move on from that character [or perhaps that is just Mr Grammer himself]. That sadness steals from the humor [formulaic] and all you are left with is stereotypes [e.g. disappointed mother-in-law] and recycled plots [e.g. botched Thanksgiving dinner]. And is it just me or does he seem a little too old for the role?)
Middle= OK (Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn do a decent job with relatable humor. I did get a few chuckles from the last episode when they are trying to wake up their teenage son, and when their braces clad dorky daughter can't seem to take a good photo to save her life.< So me!)
Modern Family= Fan-Freaking-Tastic (I almost peed my pants and fell off the futon this show is so funny. Aside from it being wickedly funny it also scores major points just for having an openly gay relatively well adjusted and happy couple with a child. OMG last weeks episode where they accidentally lock their baby in the car. ;D)
I will definately be tuning in at 9pm on Wednesdays for Modern Family.
Modern Family
That show is way too funny.
They got me hook ever since that Lion King theme with the baby X)
