TV Alert: "Top Chef" finale concludes tonightSixteen chefs entered, three remain. The season finale of Top Chef: Chicago airs tonight with lesbian chef Lisa Fernandes among the three finalists left to battle for the title. New Yorker Lisa, Chicagoan Stephanie Izard and Atlantan Richard Blais will now cook their “meals of a lifetime” to impress the judges in the culmination of the fourth season of the Bravo reality series.
The season started with three lesbian chefs, the most in the show’s history. The finale will also break ground with the most-ever female chefs competing for the top prize. The finale of the two-part season ender set in Puerto Rico has the contestants prepare their ultimate meal for the judges – host Padma Lakshmi, head judge Tom Colicchio and Food & Wine special projects manager Gail Simmons and former Queer Eye food guru Ted Allen. Something tells me they all know their salad fork from their dessert fork.
Chefbian Lisa’s presence in the finale was an upset of sorts. Fans of the show have branded her this season’s “villain” to the tune of 91 percent of those polled wanting her to pack her knives and go in last week’s penultimate episode. But Lisa has had some surprise defenders, including her bested final four cheftestant Antonia Lofaso. After her ouster, she told Eater LA: “Lisa really thought she was going home. I feel bad for her. I think she has a really bad rep on the show. You only see a small portion of who we really are. We had drinks the other night. She’s amazing at what she does. We’re two totally different chefs.”
The Top Chef finale airs at 10 p.m. tonight on Bravo. Fast readers can catch up beforehand with our Top Chef recaps.
So, foodies, who is going to be named Top Chef? Are you on Team Lisa, Team Stephanie or Team Richard? And, how on earth will we survive without our weekly dose of Padma? Submitted by on June 11, 2008 - 9:00am. |

Definitely Team Stephanie.
Team finally a woman hopefully.
Team
PadmaStephanie....although I still really wish Antonia wouldn't have messed up last week.Team Stephanie
I think it's gonna be her, or Richard. They've both been consistant, but Stephanie's adorable. I'm surprised Lisa made it this far after how many times she's been in the bottom two.

Stephanie all the way or
Stephanie all the way or Richard. They both have been great with their food preparations overall and they have wonderful social skills.
I wonder what they'll have to cook for the final?
Stephanie
Team Stephanie...I like her and she's Antonia's chosen one (kick.their.@ss. sad for Antonia in that moment, but kinda turned on too from "nice" Antonia.). Would understand if Richard won though.
Can't stand Lisa. I really think that quote from Antonia says more about Antonia than Lisa.
Does anyone know what Antonia's ethnicity is? I think she's gorgeous.
so
so does anyone here actually like Lisa at all?
I kinda just really hate her :-)
oh dear...
I'm sure she might have some fans out there...
But I don't like her. At all. I think she's gross. And I'm sorry, but her new haircut... just...blehalskfdj...doesn't go with her..lol
She's been in the bottom two how many times now? It's ridiculous, she shouldn't be there....
Oh well. I want Stephanie to win. Woo!
ok, i am coming out....
as a lisa non-hater!! yes, that's right! I actually kinda like Lisa!
Am I the only one? Probably...but while she is a tad bit (haha) surly and abrasive, I also think she had some amusing, sarcastic moments and I do not think she is evil.
That said? Team Steph for the win!!!
team stephanie

Team Stephanie. I
Team Stephanie.
I never watched "Top Chef" before this season, but I got totally sucked in and became a fan at episode one.
Stephanie for sure
Team Steph
I totally wanted Antonia to win too, but now I'm on Team Stephanie 100%. Richard is a great chef, but I think he'd be a boring/expected choice.
Plus Stephanie is too cute.
(I just wrote "Steph" and "Stephanie" way too many times here... seeing your own name is weird)
stephanie is too cute
I Hope.
Stephanie wins. I was rooting for Antonia, and was beyond pissed when she got the boot instead of Lisa. Stephanie is an uber-talented chef and deserves it. Team Steph!
Along with just about everyone else...
I am totally rooting for Stephanie. She's as cute as a button, and an amazing chef with a POSTIVE attitude. She deserves it.

VICTORY!!
YES!
That was a little too close for comfort for me--I lost count of how many times I yelled, "Ohmigod, if they let her win, I swear, I'm never watching this show again."
But, Stephanie won and alll is right with the world.
Whew.
I'm a little sad about Richard. I think he's a much better chef than he showed tonight.
As for Lisa...I'm still not a fan. I know there's selective editing going on, so it probably sounded worse than it actually was, but...for someone who got so pissy about not being congratulated after her
undeservedbronze finish last go 'round, to sit there during deliberations--while Richard is visibly upset--boasting about how well she and Stephanie did....it was just more proof that she wasn't Top Chef material.Yay Stephanie!
[Sidenote: Project Runway returns in a few weeks! WOOHOO!]

Geoffrey: You fool! As if it matters how a man falls down.
Richard: When the fall is all that is left, it matters a great deal.
- The Lion in Winter
yey
I'm happy stephanie won
They must've finally considered a chef's work & consistency throughout the season, that was too close of a call. Lisa apparently knows her stuff when it comes to Thai/Vietnamese -her sole semi redeeming factor
Finally!
the best Chef won. W00T!!
the best Chef won. W00T!! Stephanie Izard!!!
And really in this final episode Lisa was a close second. So major props to her!

the devil is in the details
oh good
aw, yay. I was not home tonight to watch the show (the only one I missed all season!) but I didn't have enough willpower to wait to find out who won.
i wonder if stephanie knows she has such a loyal following, haha. She really is just cute as a little button, I want to run up to her and give a big hug.
yay
