Tori Amos' girl posse

by Dorothy Snarker

The scarlet-haired, piano-straddling, sneeze-catching fairy princess of song is back with a new album, a new look and new multiple personalities. Fun!

Tori Amos' American Doll Posse doesn't hit store shelves until May 1, but already the singer is introducing fans to "The Girls." Simmer down, simmer down. Not those girls. These girls: American Doll Posse girls Santa, Clyde, Isabel, Tori and Pip.

She has even recorded a message telling us to look out for the ladies. I'll tell you right now, the one with the chicken freaks me out. But the one with the boots? Rowwwr! Tori has also released the track listing. The first song is "Yo George." Hmmm, which W -- I mean, George -- could she be talking about? I can't wait. Is it May yet?

i love tori ,~~~~~~~~~`

i am excited and scared at the same time....

just to comment on her recent albums....

i didn't like scarlet right off the bat....but eventually it grew on me and now it's one of my most favorite album...

but i just can't really get the beekeeper...at all....i guess i'll just have to wait for that "enlightening" moment

so i don't really know what to expect for this album...

awesome

i had heard about the new album awhile ago and if you go to www.toriamos.com the picture of her is a bit in yer face. i couldn't wait for it. i know she planned a may release so it would coincide with my birthday

i've heard so many people say they don't get beekeeper. interesting. i bought it right before i left for a research trip to a remote place and found i had it on heavy rotation the entire time. i was even asked if i wouldn't mind putting on one of the other hundreds of discs i brought. i couldn't listen to it enough.

it's interesting she's revisiting the multiple personality aesthetic. i found it interesting for STRANGE LITTLE GIRLS and approaching the words written by men from a woman's point of view (a separate woman for each song) but i never got into that album, i think mostly because she was doing covers and it's her writing that gets me most of the time.

so dorothy, does the chicken lady scare you more than the suckling pigs on PELE? lol

....from the poster formerly known as aqua...damn spammers....

Tori and the petting zoo

Oh yeah, that Pele pig totally freaked me out. It was a little too Grapes of Wrath crossed with Animal Farm for my taste. Not to mention, because she looked so hot, it completely destroyed my childhood innocence about pigs fostered by repeated readings of Charlotte’s Web.

New Tori?!?!

Thanks for posting this, I had no idea!!!

I am crossing my fingers for this album -- I love love love Tori, but The Beekeeper was just plain terrible!  It sounded like someome doing a very poor imitation of Tori.  It really bummed me out, and I thought maybe she'd just run out of songs, you know?

But I'm excited that she's taking on characters again, and I checked out the track listing (it's up on her site -- there are over 20 songs!!), and some of the titles sound very intriguing....

I know I'll be at the record store May1!!!

Hmmm...

I was a huge Tori fan but completely lost interest after listening to Scarlet's Walk. Maybe I'd just outgrown her (maybe she'd outgrown me), or maybe it was just that every song sounded the same on that record. Since then I haven't been able to rekindle my passion for Ms.Amos (though I still listen to all her previous albums, specially From The Choirgirl Hotel) over and over again. Suppose I might give her new stuff a try. But I am afraid of being disappointed.

Over the centuries, mankind has tried many ways of combating the forces of evil... prayer, fasting, good works and so on. Up until Doom, no one seemed to have thought about the double-barrel shotgun. Terry Pratchett.

No more Ireland, I beg of thee, Tori.

If this isn't any better than The Beekeeper, I will be so upset. I liked exactly 2 songs on that album, which sucks, because she's my favorite singer/songwriter. I seriously wish she would stop doing the theme albums and get back to just writing songs without any necessary direction. It makes her so much more clear as a lyricist.

Up until the punching, it was a real nice party...

Listen to Tori

AOL Music has as a few sound clips from American Doll Posse streaming on its site.  The first single, “Big Wheel,” can be heard in its entirety and “Bouncing Off Clouds” and “Teenage Hustling” have 30-second samples.

First impressions of Big Wheel? “I am a M-I-L-F, don’t you forget.” Really, did Tori just refer to herself as a MILF? I mean, it’s true, but one shouldn’t brag…

Introduced to Tori by my first girlfriend

Alright, so I'm way late. I just happened to be surfing around, and found this old article / blog... thing.

Anyway, *points to pic*

As I'm sure you can tell, I'm a big fan of this album. It was definitely what we needed after the... whatever it was that was The Beekeeper. While it had some good songs, as an album, it was her weakest. Supposedly, that had something to do with her husband saying something about being more positive to her. I hate Mark.

This album has proven that she hasn't lost her touch. I'm interested to see where her career goes after this, though. She's already announced that this will be the last tour for a while... whatever a while means. I know she's working on a musical, though. I think that's her way of staying in the business, but settling down a little bit to raise Tash. Or, I could just be a moron who thinks way too hard.
