I love the fact that Miley can reconcile her strong faith to her belief that gay marriage should be legal! If there were more Christians like her, the world would be a much better place :)

This 16 year old gril has more sense than Miss CA, who is an adult. Miley is the real Christian here. Kudos to her because she is an icon for a lot of children, and I think this is a great example to set.

I'm impressed that she's showing integrity and conviction which I wouldn't expect from the average 16 year old.  And it's nice that she's looking beyond Leviticus.

Miley gets a lot of flack but overall she's really not that bad.

It's always nice to see those who actually understand what being a Christian means.

I wasn't a Miley fan, but I am now (although nothing will make me listen to her music).

I agree, that she is really showing what a true christian is and I think it was brave of her to speak out on the issue. I hope it will encourage the younger generation to support gay marriage and gay rights.

I knew I liked Miley Cyrus for a reason. 

I have never understood why there has been so many Miley haters out there. I think she is genuinely a sweet girl who is just doing what she enjoys to do. I have always heard that she is extremely sweet to her fans and she puts on amazing concerts. So this is just another on my long list of reasons why I like this girl. You go Miley! 

As much as I also hated to admit it, I was happy with Miley on this one. I always appreciate someone in the spot light lending their support of the gay community, but to have one as popular as Miley, and a pretty adamant christian at that, was a GREAT thing to see. Way to set a GOOD example for young people, for once, Miley! I'm just waiting for all the pissed conservative Disney parents to get outraged about this one.

Side note- However, this does not change the example she sets for young girls with her occasional inapprpriate clothing for a 15 yr old, or racist picture taking. I hope she grows out of that. I think she will. She's just a kid.

I knew there was some mysterious reason why I was compelled to buy some Miley Cyrus tunes off itunes the other day!

Miss California should go poke her eyes out with those hideous earrings she's wearing...

This is a really great thing. Just like Ron Burgundy, she's kind of a big deal, and young people look up to her. Any positive nods she makes towards the LGBT community can and will be noticed by kids who see her as their role model.

I can't say I really had an opinion about her before but I am horribly biased in favour of any LGBT ally. So Miley, hi five girl, don't leave me hanging.

She is a rolemodel for so many young people whether we like it or not. I think celebrities being pro same-sex marriage should achieve nothing but appreciation regardless of what we think of them as singers, persons etc.

The fact that she is a seemingly strong christian and positive towards the LGBTQ community is even greater news. Hurray and let's hope children from ultraconservative families will still be able to adore her! ;) 

but all opinions can be re-evaluated.

I found out about Hannah Montana in 2007 thanks to my now 8 year old cousin (I think he's gay, he told me that he wants to be a girl, like me, when he gets older). Never watched the show.

Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus seriously bugged the crap out of me before. But now, i honestly owe her some respect. =P it's so great tha she said that because the kids who looks up to her willl have a chance of being less homophobic. 

She's not taken seriously by a lot of people but I think what she did was a huge thing for her, because of her religious choice and the fact that she's under the eye of all media that kind of statement must take a lot of courage to do and I really respect her for being able to think smartly and separate religion beliefs from people wrights.

She did a great thing by releasing that statement.

See, this is why I like Miley Cyrus.

i mean i wasnt a miley fan to begin with but as months go by and she keeps talking, she's just began to be increasingly annoying. and she really went to far with that radiohead comment. and so what if Miss California doesnt even know California isnt its own country, she doesnt have to be pro gay marriage. if she isnt just ignore like we all did before the pageant.  im sorry i could care less if she does or doesnt like gays or gay marriage.

i don't know too much about her but she does have great influence and oddly i was actually wondering yesterday what would happen if Miley or another Disney star said anything on the matter. i often daydream as to what i would do in diff. ppl's places whether i have an iterest in them or not, just wondering what actions i'd take. i wondered if disney stars had to stick by some guidelines cus of Disney or something and then the next day turns out it would make no diff. had i been in her place cus she did a good thing anyways weird coincidence

Has always been fairly supportive of the gays.  Hell, they have a gay day (or is it week) there supporting pride!  They may not run around spewing it everywhere, but disney was always pretty good about supporting the gays.  lol.  

As for Miley, doesn't anyone think this seems a little beyond her intellectual level?  We're talking about the girl who fubared with the whole Asian mess.  I think there's a very good chance she wanted to make a statement, and it was written out for her because of the last catastrophe that occured when she opened her mouth.  

That said, I do see fallout of the good kind for us this time.  So for that, I can only thank her.
