"Sex and the City" film catches fever

They’re baaaack! Yes, the fabulous foursome of Sex and the City is back. The first teaser trailer for the SATC movie came out yesterday. I’ll admit it; I got a little sentimental when I heard the theme again. I half expected to see Carrie in that pink tutu dress getting splashed by that bus. And as much as I want to toast the movie and the gals, I can’t help wondering: Will it work?

I watched all six seasons of the hit HBO series. I even hosted a premiere party or two, complete with appletinis. And when it ended in 2004, I thought it went out on a pretty darn-near-perfect note in terms of wish fulfillment. So now, almost four years later, what exactly is left to tell? Well, the trailer doesn’t let too much slip, unless a woman trying on fancy white dresses means something to you. [To see the trailer in hi-def, click here.]

So, what do you think? Does the sight of Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall together again make you squeal?

How about SJP’s flat-as-an-ironing-board 42-year-old abs?

Or the prospect of Sex and the City: Now With More Lesbian, thanks to Cynthia?

Perhaps Dreamgirl Jennifer Hudson (as Carrie’s assistant) is telling you to see this film?

And finally, am I the only one who is reading this scene as a younger, gayer version of the fab four cruising Carrie? Sorry, that’s probably just my Wishful Lesbian Thinking cropping up again.

The movie is slated for a May release. For me, the teaser worked. Hearing SJP’s trademark voiceover once again made me want a cosmo and some serious girl talk. How about you — after seeing the trailer, are you more or less ready for the continued adventures of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha?

Sex is back!

I am uber excited for the new movie to come out! I was a huge fan of Sex and the City and have missed it dearly. My only concern is...was it too late to make a movie? The show ended awhile ago and a movie is just now coming out. There is a certain time frame that that can happen and I think that the movie just made it. Hopefully. I am sooo excited to see the four of them together on screen. They all have such great chemistry together. Can't wait.

I'm not sure why I loved

I'm not sure why I loved the show so much., but I did. HBO would have these 10pm-4am-ish type marathons every once and a while and that's the only time I really watched it, hoping after each episode there would be at least one more.

It's not really a lesbian-targetted show and doesn't fall into my usual genres of sci-fi or cop-drama. Still, I'll let my sister drag me to the theatre to see it come May, pretending I'm doing her some kind of favor when in actuallity I'll be squeeing like a fan-girl on the inside.

Also, I'm not even into fashion and those outfits in the teaser looked awesome. Want.

(p.s. Christina Aguleria's Samantha impression is bombingest)

Yay!!Sex & the City!!

The terrible 4 are back!! I can't put into words how much, how much! i love the show. I can't say how much i've laughed with the stories of this crazy girls..it just came to my mind for instance the episode in which Carrie gets mugged and a thief takes her Manolo Blahniks. Im still remembering Carrie pleading for her shoes, running through the streets of NY in a desperate way and walking into an Asian salon to yell out loud that she's been robbed haha. All the episodes are priceless! can't wait for the movie to come out to theatres!

Ugh

Way too much Carrie in the trailer.  There needs to be far less of her and far more of the other three.

Looking forward to it!

One of my favorite series! I have it all on DVD, and watch it still every once in a while. I hope is not a crappy thing, but I would go see it anyway, because I like them as actreses all together.

Even if the trailer sucked I

Even if the trailer sucked I would be dying to see the movie. I feel like the characters in the show are my best friends. I know so much about their lives and they spent so many late nights in my livingroom [on my tv.]

I agree...

I thought the trailer sucked too, and was a disappointment. However, I absolutely LOVED the show and cried when it ended. So I'll definitely be there on opening day to see it hit the big screen.

Can't Wait

By the time I was semi old enough to watch the show, I was in my freshman year of high school, it was in its' last season, and I kept missing it for another popular show that came out the same year (yes, i'm talking about you L Word). I saw parts of it but once my mom bought the first season the same year, I was hooked! I can't wait for this movie to come out! I really hope it does well, and I'll definitely be going to see it in May.

How is this going to work,

How is this going to work, when a huge premise of the show was dating, and they all finished it's run all coupled-up?

More Samantha!

I'm both excited and nervous about this movie...I adored this show during its run, but the television to movie transition has always been a rocky one. Plus, I really, really hope it's not two hours on Carrie getting married. I might shoot myself.

We need more Samantha!

While I watched SATC I

While I watched SATC I always got a little annoyed by its message, did it not bother anyone else that these were successful, intelligent women, yet their whole life still revolved around men and finding men?  Having said that, I still watched it.  Why?  Mainly for Kristin Davis if I'm honest.  And she is looking fine!  I will probably see the movie, and then complain about its ideas.  But I will probably enjoy it, and find it rather entertaining, as I did the show, it just bugs me a bit!

I had to double-check to

I had to double-check to make sure your post wasn't written by me, because that was pretty much exactly what I was going to say. I loved the show from the very beginning - it's one of very few shows I remember watching the pilot for on TV! That was years before I came out, so technically I should've been able to identify with their men-trouble... but I never did.

My best friend's obsessed with the show, and her life seems to strangely resemble Carrie's... I don't know - maybe I'm just jealous that there isn't a good show out there I can identify with. (not saying that I need a show about the non-excistant love life of a 20-something lesbian... I'd just like a strong female lead I can identify with and who doesn't spend all day cursing the phone for not ringing - preferrably gay, but maybe that's asking too much).

I, too, LOVE Kristin Davis and had the biggest crush on her. She's so cute!

I like Carrie's pink shirt and white vest. But then, I pretty much like any shirt/vest combo. Or just a plain old shirt. Or vest. I'm not picky.

I didn't watch this show, I

I didn't watch this show, I never got into it like that. I watched an episode a season here and a season there, and know the basic premis of it. But nonetheless, I might watch the movie, doubtful it will be in the theater, but we shall see. It seems like this year is the year to announce the upcoming movies for television shows: X Files, Dead Like Me, Sex in the City, and speculations of a Xena and Buffy movie. It must be in the water, hahaha.

I'm Sold! Count Me In!!

I tried to be subtle last time with Tina Fey (and boy that certainly didn't work) so I'm not even going to try now, I'm barely able to contain myself!

As long as those four ladies are going to be in it (or any other movie with any other name), I'm IN!!!

And before I burst, just let me say this KRISTIN DAVIS!!!! OMG!! *THUD* She could just sit on a chair for the entire movie and say nothing and I swear to you, I'll swoon anyway! There's just something about her that makes me giddy.

With that said, I'll now go sit in the corner and take deep breaths.

P.S. My only pet peeve with this show is Mr. Big - he annoys the crap out of me.

Are you me?  I mean,I liked it al right, but certain parts, like the ones you pointed out, bugged me a lot.  And yeah, I was mostly watching because Charlotte is so effing cute.  (Carrie gets on my nerves almost all the time, Samantha is alright, Miranda is pretty cool, though).

yeah i kind of always wished charlotte was secretly gay

YEEEE

SO excited for this movie. i disagree with some of you...the trailer was very much a teaser...i don't think we can make any presumptions about the movie based on that. it definitely sucked me in.

i find it funny how so many lesbians love charlotte. i'm actually quite partial to cynthia nixon...aka miranda (of course)...but more in the last three seasons. she is smokin' hot...as is charlotte...and i love SJP...i think she's beautiful.

i echo the carrie wedding concerns though...i don't mind if that's part of the movie, but please let it not be the whole thing.

now if only they'd make a xena movie my life would be complete. :)

drool

I so can't wait...I"ve been foaming at the mouth since the show went off the air..catching it here and there in rerun heaven....I mean this was one of the few that showed women in a good light...or better yet..women who have sex....and not be total whores...because Hollywood likes to remind us every other year... finally a movie I'll be willing to shell out the 20 bucks for just for the ticket to see.
