Samantha Bee and Jason Jones get cooking with their own show

The Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee is leaving her cozy fake news confines for the broader comedy of broadcast TV. Bee and her husband, fellow Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones, have signed a deal with CBS for an as-yet-untitled sitcom.

The couple would both star in and script the series. According to Variety, the show would be a comic behind-the-scenes look at a celebrity chef (played by Jason) and the two women (one played by Samantha) who run his cooking empire. No word yet on who would play the other woman in his life.

A cooking comedy? Slice me off a piece of that. Of course, past attempt at kitchen humor have turned out undercooked. Yes, Kitchen Confidential, I'm talking to you. Heck, I'm probably the only one who even remembers that show even existed.

The Daily Show has launched the careers of several of its former correspondents, including Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell and Mo Rocca. No, Rob Corddry, sit down — The Winner was no winner, not even close.

As excited as I am for Samantha and Jason, I'll be sad to see them exit Jon Stewart's fiefdom. Samantha and her spot-on sarcasm and welcome female perspective in particular will be sorely missed. Though, I for one, know I'll be eternally grateful to her for introducing me to the sport of NILF hunting.

War is, hellooo, ladies. Oh, Samantha, I know I'll miss you most of all.

Samantha Bee

That was one of the funniest sketches I have ever watched. And once she points it out, its kind of like "Wow, she's right. There are a LOT of NILFs." She will be sorely missed.

Wow!

That was an awesome clip! Such a shame I don't get those channels, it would make news, indeed, much more interesting! ;)

Awesome

It's a shame to see Samantha leaving, but looking forward to her new show.

It sounds awesome

I remember...

Kitchen Confidential. It starred Nicholas Brendan of Buffy fame. So, I gave it a shot. Although, to be fair I watched the entire series online nearly a year after it was cancelled. Needless to say, at least it had Bonnie Somerville and that hostess chick...

can't work out how diff it is to UK TV, I mean every year for Children in Need the BBC News Readers do some kind of performance e.g. Rocky Horror, James Bond etc.. but thats like makeing fun of itself, though I guess its kinda the same,
