Meryl Streep and Tina Fey are trying to work together on a movie. My first thought, after I finished hyperventilating, was, “Oh my God is this really happening or am I dreaming? In which case, wake me up now before that guy from Titanic and that gal from Juno come steal my secrets.” My second thought was, “What can I do to help make this happen?” And then my third and final thought before passing out was, “Squeeeeeeeeee!”
According to the Los Angeles Times, the two actresses hope to star together in a mother-daughter comedy tentatively titled Mommy & Me to be directed by frequent Meryl co-star Stanley Tucci. The film is in its earliest stages, without a script or writers yet. But with those stars attached, come on, it seems like someone would be interested. Heck, I’d finance it myself if I had several tens of millions of dollars to spare.
Both women have clearly proven their comedy and acting chops, Tina with a roomful of Emmys and Meryl, well, she might live with a couple boys named Oscar. And both have done well recently with more comedic films, Baby Mama and Date Night for Tina and It’s Complicated and Julie & Julia.
Still, if this is a dream and those Inception guys have come to get information from me, while they’re in there they’re welcome to steal my “Dream Collaborations” list and make them happen. Along with Tina and Meryl, I’d love to see Jodie Foster and Lena Headey (scowl off!), Kate Winslet and Helen Mirren (classy English lady off!), Olivia Wilde and Zoe Saldana (too much gorgeous off!).
