Meryl Streep and Amy Adams get cooking in "Julie & Julia"

Women and food — if there are two better reasons to live they absolutely escape me at this moment. So then imagine my delight at the new film Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and the culinary genius of Julia Child.

The movie based on a book based on a blog tells the two true stories of both New Yorker Julie Powell (played by Amy) and her inspiration the famed and arguably first celebrity chef Julia Child (played by Meryl). The trailer features some of the most delicious scenery chewing I’ve seen from Meryl in ages.

To quote Liz Lemon, I want to go to there. Like now, like immediately. Like, why isn’t it August 7 yet? The movie follows Julie’s year-long quest to cook all 524 recipes in Julia’s 1961 classic Mastering the Art of French Cooking, while simultaneously telling the story of Julia’s rise to fame. In real-life, Julie chronicled her culinary adventure in her blog, The Julie/Julia Project, which became the bestselling book Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen.

The trailer looks nothing short of delightful. Meryl mastery of Julia’s signature warble is amazing. Amy is adorable. Stanley Tucci (as Julia’s husband) is droll. Oh, and we haven’t even seen Jane Lynch yet, who plays Julia’s sister. Heck, even the poster tagline is great: “Passion. Ambition. Butter. Do you have what it takes?”

So, are you as excited as I am to take a bite out of Julie & Julia? Bring on a heaping helping of Meryl, Amy and Julia, tout de suite.

So Excited!!!

I cannot wait for this movie. Julia Child is the best television chef ever! Amy Adams and Meryl Streep and Butter!

One of my favorite Julia Child moments is when she's making omlettes and she overcooks one a bit, and says "don't worry, they won't know the difference" Ah, public television, you've raised me well.

wow, maybe I'm too excited... nah.

Awesome!

I adored the book and so I am very excited for this movie. I hope they leave in the detail that Julie and her husband are Buffy fans! There's a great passage about them watching the final episode and what she was cooking to go along with it if I remember correctly...

I've only watched the trailer 7 times, don't judge me!

Words cannot express how excited I am about this movie. I've been waiting for it since November (it was pushed back because of Doubt). Meryl Streep is amazingly talented (hence why I love her) so I can't see how this will be bad. Plus Julia Child was awesome and Amy Adams is adorable. Basically it needs to be August 7th. Now.

Amy Adams is pretty much required viewing these days...

Partly because she's so good and so fun.  But mostly because the woman I have the hots for is good friends with her mother...heh.

Meryl!

Meryl slays me. And I did a stint at the Cordon Bleu myself. Can't wait!

I'm excited for this movie, but where is the biopic of Alice Waters' life? Check out www.chezpanisse.com for more about the woman who revolutionized the way Americans eat, and www.lesbianinthekitchen.wordpress.com for more about the small steps you can take to revolutionize your kitchen :)
